Frugal Meals and Cheap Groceries on One Website

Start saving money on groceries before you even enter the store with Flyerside.com . At Flyerside.com you can shop and compare local grocery store deals you might otherwise find in flyers scattered on your table.

Price-booking, or shopping by an item’s unit price, takes a lot of time and work, yet it’s one of the best ways to save money on groceries. Flyerside.com has done this work for you and shows you which items are cheapest based on a five-star scale: 5 stars is excellent, 2.5 is average, and 0 means wait for a better deal.

You can search for ingredients on your grocery list, or look more broadly at what’s on sale and type in categories like “meat” or “produce.” Also, you can search by store, so if you’re a loyal to a certain store, you can see what their best sales currently are so you don't miss a chance to stock up.

The site also has a bonus feature that shows you what kinds of recipes you can make from the cheapest deals from your favorite store. It even calculates how much you’ll save on those recipes if you buy the recommended ingredients! Currently, all the recipes come from Allrecipes.com  where you can see the cooking instructions and reviews of the recipe.

The site is fairly new, so not every U.S. zip code or store is available yet, and the site does not currently include Canadian locations or stores. The founders are working to expand the site to include Canada and they also welcome emails to help them improve the site. If your favorite store isn’t included, just let them know so they can add it.

Money Saving Tips With Internet Online Shopping

Monday, January 25, 2010

Learn great money saving tips with online shopping as they could really give you huge savings if you practice them well. Internet online shopping has been gathering popularity as you can easily sift through many online stores in the shortest time frame to get the best deal, at the click of a mouse button. With discount vouchers, discount codes or promotional codes, you can save even more when shopping online.

5 Essential Money Saving Tips With Internet Online Shopping :

1. Always aim for the best deal and save more for the item(s) you desire. Do not immediately settle down with your purchase on the first online store that you come across. Scout through a few of them and make your price comparison to get the best deal. Lookout for sale items especially. Sale prices can be dramatically lower than the standard prices and help you to save big.

2. Always use coupons or discount voucher codes if you know where to check online. There are many websites out there that offer thousands of coupons to almost every online store. Typically you pay 20% more for an item for shipping fee, and if you are able to save that much with discount vouchers, you are essentially getting free shipping for your items. Every time you get to the last checkout page, just key in the promotional code into the little box will do.

3. Always keep an eye for online rebates given by retailers that can help to save a huge percentage on the selling price. Simple fill out a little form and cut out the UPC code. Use these rebates and save big.

 4. Always look out for sites or items that come with free shipping. As mentioned above, shipping fee is normally 20% more than the item price itself. Saving on your shipping can be tremendous if your item costs a lot.

5. Do not miss out those state retailers that do not charge sales tax for your items for your state. The money saving here could be significant too. With money saving tips above and if you have practiced them well, you can add up and see how much you have easily saved for yourself. The best part is, you don’t even have to walk into a store to save a bundle. Spend some time to search online and I am sure you can find more money saving offers and tips out there. Start saving and enjoy living debt free today!

How to Save Money on Gas, Food, and Home Remodeling

Saturday, January 23, 2010

During these tough economic times, people are searching high and low to find ways to save money on gas, food and even remodeling projects. Knowing where to look can not only save you time, but also a great deal of money.
Where to find the best priced gas:
Gasbuddy.com
GasPrices.mapquest.com
FuelGaugeReport.com

How to save money at the grocery store:

Make a grocery list before you go shopping. Not only will you save time, but you won’t buy things that aren’t on the list.
Check out the weekly grocery store ads before you go shopping and stock up on items that can be stored. Canned goods, pasta and grains have long shelf lives and poultry and meat freeze well.
Don’t buy pre-cut, pre-bagged items.
Buy ziplocks for a couple bucks and bag small portions of chips, veggies, fruit, etc.
Don’t waste money on pre-cubed, pre-pounded or pre-seasoned meats or poultry. While these can save you prep time in the kitchen, they cost quite a bit more than plain cut meat.
Look for family packs whenever possible, as the price per pound is much lower.
Coupons do count! A few dollars per week adds up to real savings over the course of a year. File all your coupons in a convenient place where you will remember to bring them to the grocery store.
Follow the basic rule of shopping: If you won’t eat it, don’t buy it…even if it’s cheap!

Remodelling Tips:

Do a quick internet search for “discount kitchen sinks” and you’ll see just how much information is out there on finding discount sinks.
Keep your eye out for liquidation centers or bargain building centers. Sometimes these are known only to contractors, but start asking and you might just find them.
Check out a bargain building supply store. These often carry both new and used discounted sinks. These stores can even carry higher end items such as Blanco sinks and Danze faucets. Used sinks can save you a great amount of money, just be sure that you inspect it for any noticeable flaws.
Talk to local contractors who may have contacts with local builders. They also might have a heads up when it comes to any pending sales on household building supplies such as discounted sinks, countertops, etc.
Keep your ears open for word about a going out of business sale or an auction of kitchen materials. You can probably find this information in the local classifieds for ads on auctions and end of business sales.

Review-The Slanket

Friday, January 22, 2010

What is a Slanket?

"The Slanket is a gigantic fleece blanket with sleeves. A very soft to the touch, lightweight, but warm fleece blanket with large, loose sleeves designed so you don't feel like you're wearing the blanket, simply wrapped up in its wonder. The Slanket is designed to keep your entire body covered and cozy while you still retain the use of your hands. Simplistic and practical, its innovativeness opens up possibilities, but still can replace any normal blanket."

Gerry always wanted to try the Slanket...and after hearing that he was going to be able to review one, he was quite happy. When it arived, it had been a long day's work with some overtime. He was more than happy to slip it on and get comfy on the couch. It is so comfy he said- and so thick and warm.Hours later, he is snoring on the couch, still with his Slanket around him!

Slanket also not only comes in singles, but for children, for travel, and a Siamese for doubles!
The price is affordable and it comes in a wide range of colors and patterns.

We give Slanket- a thumbs up!

Review-Tupperware

I was recently the lucky reviewer for some great Tupperware products.I was really impressed.
Tupperware has sites in both Canada and in the USA.
I remember Tupperware from way back in the day- mom used to get invited to Tupperware parties and I would go along. It was always fun even back then to see all their products being passed around at the parties. And then mom got her order in and I used to think even then, as a young kid, they had great products.Fast forward some 30+ years and Tupperware is still going strong. They even have a great work from home opportunity.
I was amazed at their continued quality of their items as well as all the new products are are always being added to their product line.
Our family gives Tupperware brand- the full thumbs up!

Well, you can start slow by just taking that spare change you have laying around and putting it in a jar and just let it grow over time. It won't take long before your change jar starts growing and you now have money saved.

Imagine when you count the amount of change you've saved, after six months of dropping your change in your jar, you are astounded at how much money you have collected in just a short period of time. You can do it, just start saving your change today! Don't wait to save, it doesn't matter that you're starting out small by saving your change. It only matters that you just start saving!

These five tips should help you when you start saving your change:

1) Get yourself a jar to put your change in. Nothing fancy needed, the idea is get yourself a jar so you can start saving your change now!

2) Make it a goal to collect all your change and put it in a jar on a daily basis from either your purse, wallet, clothing, vehicle or any other place you may have your change.

3) Put your change jar in a special place in your home where it is not tempting for you or anyone else in your home to remove change from your savings jar.

4) Make it habit to keep all the change you receive when making purchases so you can place this change in your change jar.

5) Plan to count your change every six months and deposit your change into a special savings account at your bank. This will assist you in keeping track on how well you're saving money by saving your change!

You may think this idea of saving money by saving your change may not work. I'm here to tell you that it will! Over the years I have used this method to save money and it has worked very well for me. In fact, I have several change jars around my home that I always use for my change. I have been able to save lots of money by doing this. It is easy and I have trained myself just to drop my change in my jars, which helps me to continuing saving money on an ongoing basis. So, if I can do it, I know you can.

So, save money by saving your change today, so you can help yourself to improve your finances today and for your future.

Repairing Your Credit DIY Style

The number one thing that the big credit card companies like VISA, Mastercard, and AMEX and large mortgage lenders such as Quicken Loans look for when qualifying someone for a loan is whether or not they will be able to pay it back. Bad credit says that you are a high risk consumer and should be charged at higher interest rates as a result.

However, having bad credit is not the end of the world. While it may take some time, your credit score can in fact be repaired and the result can translate into all kinds of saving whether more attractive interest rates on credit cards or affordable mortgage quotes on a home loan or refinance home loan.

In most situations, there is no need to hire a credit repair service or a lawyer to restore your credit, as you can do for yourself pretty much anything they can do at minimal cost. The following are some helpful tips on how to go about fixing your credit:

Pay your Bills

This is definitely a no-brainer. Easily the best way to start improving your credit score is to consistently pay your bills on time every month. All it takes is one late payment to lower your credit score and any additional delinquencies, charge-offs, and/or accounts gone into collections can significantly impair your credit score.

Get Your Current Credit Report

Be sure to get a current copy of your credit report. Annualcreditreport.com is a really inexpensive and safe site for this as it’s the only authorized source where you can view your credit report from each of the three major credit reporting agencies- Experian, Transunion, and Equifax, online for free. Be sure to closely check your credit report often to ensure that creditors are correctly reporting on your accounts. Absolutely dispute any incorrect information. Consumer reporting agencies are legally obligated to investigate items in question within 30 days. Once the investigation is completed, the reporting agency will send you a written report of the outcome as well as a free credit report if the dispute results in a change.

Pay off Old Debt

It is vital that you payoff off any outstanding debt if you want to raise your credit score. It is important to mention that paying off a delinquent account will not instantly remove it from your credit report. Any charge offs or negatives on your credit score will remain for seven years after the date of being paid off. However, you can request reporting agencies to state next to the charge off or negative that the account has been paid in full.

Some people experience a drop in their credit score immediately after paying off a collection, however, it will only be temporarily. This happens because when an old account is paid, the date of last activity is renewed and reevaluated in the credit-scoring formula causing the chargeoff or negative to look more recent than it actually is. Again, this drop is only temporary and your credit score will increase in time.

Manage Your Credit Wisely

This means apply for credit sparingly. Don’t apply for every credit card or loan that comes your way. Too many inquiries on your credit report can affect your credit score negatively and possibly reduce your score to the point where creditors won’t offer you the best terms.

Guest Post: How to Have a Frugal Valentine's Day

Ah Valentine’s Day, the day to declare our undying devotion and love to the special someone in our lives. The media would have us believe that the only way we can show our love is by emptying our pocket books as we purchase diamond rings, dozens of roses and expensive Belgian chocolates. What’s a frugal Romeo or Juliet to do? Here are some ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day without breaking the bank.

Wow your sweetheart with a special dinner – their favorite meal prepared by you. Cover the table with a table cloth (a solid colored sheet will work in an emergency). Add a few candles to the table and a single rose or carnation as a centerpiece. Put on some soft, romantic music in the background and you’ll feel as though you are being serenaded in a fancy restaurant for a fraction of the cost. You can go all out with your Valentine dinner or keep it simple. Only you know what your true love really appreciates. For those of you in the warmer areas, pack a picnic lunch instead of a special dinner. Spread a blanket on the ground and share a romantic picnic lunch in your backyard or a public park. Pack some romantic finger foods like grapes, cheese & crackers, strawberries dipped in chocolate, etc. and declare your undying love while feeding her these delicacies.

Speaking of delicacies, what Valentine’s Day would be complete without some sinfully rich chocolate treats? Don’t give your money to your local chocolate shop when you can whip up some fancy treats in your own kitchen.

 Chocolate Covered Strawberries

1 or 2 dark chocolate or milk chocolate candy bars

enough strawberries to satisfy that sweet tooth

Bring a pan of water to boil on the stove. Break up the candy bar into small pieces and put them in a glass bowl. Set the glass bowl into the pan of water being careful that it does not tip and gently stir the chocolate until it is melted. Dip each strawberry into the chocolate and put on wax paper. Refrigerate until the chocolate sets and then enjoy!

Make your sweetheart a coupon book good for a special service you can provide. Some coupon ideas include home baked cookies, I’ll do your chores for a week, a special massage, etc. Let your imagination be your guide and he’ll remember this Valentine’s Day each time he redeems one of your coupons.

Create your own special Valentine’s Day card. Using a few sheets of red paper and a doily you can find at your local craft or dollar store, you can give a Valentine’s Day card that is all you. Why not write a special poem or a heartfelt sentiment on the inside of the card.

If your Valentine’s Day includes some quiet alone time with your special someone, don’t forget to schedule a massage and a sensuous bubble bath. Add some soft romantic music and some scented candles, dim the lights and set the mood.

Make this a Valentine’s Day your love will never forget.

Well, I must say I am happy to be able to be able to offer more giveaways for everyone.

Am off tommorow to Saskatoon, Sk,( 6 hours south of here). We are taking both girls for appointments in the city.Erika has a dermatology appt and Ria is looking at a consultation for laser eye surgery. It will be a quick trip there and back. One overnight stay. I don't like travelling in the winter- a person always worries about the roads.Dog had to go to kennel and my sister is stopping over to feed the guinea pigs.

I will write more and post more once I return by Wednesday.

Whats Your Cash Personality When You Need Quick Cash

Big spenders...

High rollers– Money brings recognition from others, which goes hand in hand with the power that the high roller strives for. Their motto is work hard, play hard, and a quick cash investment is a thrill

Hunters - Success is a result of luck rather than a fully informed decision, due to the heart ruling the head. This along with impulse spending results in an ‘in-the-moment’ lifestyle and only an average – above-average income.

Entrepreneurs –These people are about the ego-boost that comes with success. So they work a lot, and take full advantage of the benefits of such a lifestyle. Nothing but the best of the best for the entrepreneur.

Drive-by spender – Most likely to fail thanks to a careless disregard for their future, the drive by spender needs goals. They often have a lot of debt and could have either a great or really low income. Either way, they’ll spend, spend, spend! They’ll be reluctant to admit problems or take advice due to embarrassment about their situation.

Safe as (cash filled) houses

Fence Sitter – These people taking the easy, no-risk option of putting their money in a savings account, because they are too scared to put make quick money decisions and put their money into investments.

Perfectionist – Low in confidence, the perfectionist finds fault with any cash investment. They’re always chasing the unobtainable, because they set such high standards for themselves.

A healthy cash balance

Human piggy bank – This person does not splurge on luxury with their vast savings, instead saving for a rainy day. Being as vigilant with their penny-pinching as the human piggy banks are can often cause rifts between them and those close to them.

Producers – With a good work ethic, the producer often feels frustrated because they only maintain a lower income and do not reap the benefits of all their hard work. This is due to poorly thought out financial decisions.

Optimist – Money is there for a purpose – to be used and enjoyed. Not always rich, but usually content, the optimist has little or no anxiety and uses money in impulsive but low-risk ways.

Bringing home the dough...

Achievers – Conservative with risky investments, achievers are hard workers who are proud of the work they do. They believe that their hard work (and their hard work only) will bring financial success and cash in their pocket, which they will untrustingly guard with their life.

Head of the class – With a healthy balance between work and play, people in this category take risks that are planned and will bring a profit. They play an extremely active role in their finances, and even though they don’t earn the most, they are most definitely the wealthiest.

So which one are you? It can be hard to tell, but take step back and check out your financial

behaviour. Are one of those who are in need of a bit of spare cash to tide you over until next payday? Or maybe you have a history of bad credit following you around like a bad smell? Get a bad credit loan.

And to get you on track of your fast finance needs it’s a good idea to take a look at the resources available through advisors, legitimate money advice columns and personal experiences from friends to help u have more money in the long run.

Sean Teahan co-founder of Cash Doctors,Australia’s preferred short term lender, shares his insights on money matters. Founded in 2005 Cash Doctors has helped thousands of Australians with their fast cash loans but that’s just the short term solution. Cash Doctors also help people in the long run by providing budgeting tools, e-books and individually researched articles on money matters and financial tips. The aim is to assist people in achieving instant and long term financial freedom.

Review and Giveaway! The Daughter in Law Rules! Book

Sally Shield's book: "The Daughter in Law Rules!" is one of the better books I've come across. I loved the easy to read format, the graphics, book jacket, and it even comes with a little book mark.
Although I do not see alot of my mother in law, I enjoyed reading through all the little ways to "cozy up" to your mother in law. I passed this book on to my daughter who has a current boyfriend and really seemed keen on reading it. She said there should be one for cozying up to the Father in Laws too.
Her book is important for two reasons; one, it helps raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and two, it helps marriages.
55% of women surveyed have expressed a measure of

tension with their in-laws, especially during holiday-time. I believe The Daughter-in-Law Rules will make a helpful book to any wife!

A bonus about this book? This book helps raise money for The BCRF®. Think Pink!
