Stocking Stuffer-ILA DUSK Personal Alarm
When I first heard of the Ila Dusk personal alarm, I knew this was an item I had to promote for a stocking stuffer this year. I think every woman should have one of these personal alarms hanging off her purse. The personal alarms are sold in Canada from the Abbott Collection Giftware.
This item is a personal alarm with a unique woman's scream. When activated the alarm emits a scream for help at a piercing 130dB. It comes in a range of fun and fashionable designs, includes a bag clip and key ring and is activated by pulling a chain. This will stop any attacker in his tracks- and run the other way!
Great this year for grandmas, aunts, sisters, moms, your daughter or best friends.I personally think it's just such a great stocking stuffer to show you care and you want that person to always be safe. The Ila Dusk retails at $29.99

Stocking Stuffer: Book Review and Giveaway: Chilling Tales from the Porcelain Seat
Saturday, November 26, 2011
Although we may not all be "bathroom readers",the book Chilling Tales from the Porcelain Seat would make a great stocking stuffer or quirky gift and is suited for outside the bathroom reading as well.( I enjoyed reading it while riding my exercise bike.)
Roto-Rooter has compiled a bathroom reader titled Chilling Tales from the Porcelain Seat with narration from the Ghost Hunters hosts Grant and Jason. The inexpensive, short 150 page book is complete with a little potty humor, some unusual finds and DIY disaster stories.
I enjoyed the book, as it told the history of Grant and Jason and how they got to have the Ghost Hunter show, as well as some good plumbers stories and tips.
Roto Rooter would like to also give one of our readers from Canada or the USA the opportunity to win one of these books as well. A random draw will be made by Random.org on December 9,2011 from all entries received.

Book Review:The Frugal Foodie Cookbook
Tuesday, November 22, 2011
I enjoy reviewing cookbooks and frugal books. The Frugal Foodie Cookbook offers both.
Lara Starr is a baker, blogger, and a cook with a calculator. Lynette Shirk is a four-star Frugal Foodie who has cooked at Masa's, Postrio, Chez Panisse, and Williams-Sonoma. Together they have cooked up a recipe-filled guide to eating better than ever on less. The Frugal Foodie Cookbook will show you how to creatively and cleverly use ingredients and leftovers to produce wonderful, inexpensive meals for any occasion.
I greatly enjoyed reading this book as it gave some great cooking tips and was interesting to read. I’ve always been a bit of a foodie. I enjoy trying new things, and creating new recipes. Yet being a foodie can be a bit expensive, after all fresh and obscure are not cheap. However, The Frugal Foodie Cookbook really does a great job creating fun, new food on just about any budget. The book gives helpful do-it-yourself tips, and provides delicious recipes that are not only inexpensive to make but surprising easy. Eating and cooking have never been more fun after this read.

Cyber Monday Is November 28th
For those of you that do not know this is one of the biggest online shopping days of the year. Since the stores are bombarded on Black Friday internet sellers wanted to give shoppers deals too in order to increase business. The term first came about in 2005, and has recently found increased popularity among shoppers. This is most likely due to a greater number of people shopping the internet each year rather than fighting the crowds at the mall. Cyber Monday was created by Shop.org after internet sales showed an increase of 78% the Monday after Thanksgiving. If you are new to Cyber Monday be sure to check out all the great deals online, and enjoy a mod free shopping experience.

Stocking Stuffers:Review and Giveaway: Burts Bees Lotion ( Canada only)
It's that time of year. The time that I am already starting to notice that my skin is drying out.My hands, and my legs in particular. After every shower or bath, I always use lotion. Not all lotions are created equally though. We know they can all "talk the talk", but can they "walk the the walk? "Well, Burt's Bees Richly Replenishing Cocoa & Cupuaçu Butters Body Lotion can.
I tried this new lotion last night after my bath.I squeezed it out of the tube and loved the fact that it had a nice scent.I love the smell of their products. It was nice and thick- another plus, and went on without any greasy feeling. After a few hours I could feel how my skin felt moisturized, and by morning, it still had that soft feel. It's really a plus for your winter skin care routine.Dermatologist-tested, and would make a great stocking stuffer this year!

Become a Smarter Shopper for the Holidays
The holiday season is upon us; which means spending lots of money on the season’s hottest trends, right? Luckily, this is not necessarily true. You can still get this season’s latest and greatest beauty and fashion trends without emptying your wallet. The trick is to become a smarter shopper.
First, consider cashing in on any reward points you may have from credit cards or other sources. Often, you can trade points for gift cards to your favorite stores. Second, use coupons. There are coupons for everything these days from beauty products to clothing. Many of your favorite stores may already be emailing you coupons almost on a daily basis, and instead of deleting these emails you should be printing them to save some cash. Finally, look for rebates. This is not to say, buy something simply because it offers has a rebate, rather if you are planning to make a purchase look to see if any stores or companies are offering rebates on that particular product.
The holidays can be stressful with everyone being stretched a bit thin when it comes to money. However, by becoming a smart shopper you can save yourself hundreds of dollars. So, before you hit the stores this season to shop for the people on your list make sure to turn in those rewards, print or clip those coupons and hunt down rebates. You will soon be singing along to your favorite carols if you try these three ways to save.

Customised Vertical Blinds – Things To Consider
Monday, November 14, 2011
When it comes to decorating tall, French and patio door windows, vertical blinds are a very good choice. For those not in the know, these hang off a rail at the top of your window and can be adjusted well to block out or allow light into the room, and also to help control privacy.
Vertical blinds are extremely flexible when it comes to appearance, and can be customised to the homeowner’s heart’s content. Some may be happy buying the blinds and leaving them as they are, but if you have your own ideas in mind you can have them ordered and made to your specification. If, on the other hand, you’re more confident in your own abilities then you could customise them yourself. If you do choose to do this, here are a few ideas and things to consider.
Rail Length
This is more necessity than choice, as the size of the rail is usually dictated by the size of the window. The majority of rails fit most standard sized windows and doors, however the specific sizes of overly large or small windows and doors will decide whether this is necessary or not. It’s always wise to measure your windows and doors before purchasing a rail – either standard or customised – just in case. After this, you should know whether you’ll be able to purchase a standard rail or whether you’ll need one manufacturing to your specifications.
Colour
It’s not always easy to match up everything in your room, and this is often where the DIY element of home improvement comes in. There are so many things to consider when making sure your room corresponds, such as wall paint, pieces of furniture and even the rugs on the floor. Often, people like to keep everything similarly coloured, or at least a colour that complements the existing furnishings, so it can be assumed that this is something you would also bear in mind with vertical blinds. It’s usually much easier to match up the slats from the blinds, as most rails are produced in a generic white colour.
Another option would be to purchase vertical blinds in a more contrasting colour to a room. Whilst this won’t match up well, the way the window treatments stand out will really complement the existing furniture and décor anyway, so that shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
Pattern
Patterned vertical blinds are readily available from most vendors and can really add more character to a room. The chances are that a lot of traders will have ready printed patterns that could come somewhat close to what you are looking for. However, if this is not the case then many will have an alternative option – either a method of printing or a way of ordering your customised blinds in. No matter how you get there, there is a way to get the perfect vertical blinds for your home.

Remembering Our Veterns

Patriotic song giving tribute to our veterans and soldiers overseas
Patriotic song In America by recording artist Sunny James
is giving tribute to our veterans and soldiers overseas.
The song talks about what freedom is and standing strong as one to keep this country free and living in harmony.
I enjoy sharing the song at events that give tribute to our verterans like Veterans Day, or giving tribute to our soldiers so far away from home fighting for others freedoms.
It's touching to have people tell you that your creation brought tears to their eyes.

Canada observes the Remembrance Day
During Canada Remembrance Day, certified ceremonies are detained at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. These events instigate with the dingdong of the Carillon. While this is played, active members of the Canadian Forces, the Ottawa diplomatic unit, Ministers of the Crown, unique guests, the Royal Canadian Legion, and associate-stately assistant disembark. The broad anthem, “O Canada,” is played. As with most armed ceremonies, there is a gun greeting, a bugling, and bells tolling. To pay their respects to the war over, the free place poppies on top of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The Silver Cross sister chairs a garland at the pedestal of the memorial in behalf of other mothers who have gone children to the war.
If the US has its Veterans Day, Canada observes the Remembrance Day, a special day for all those who served in the armed navy during the First World War. In Canada, Remembrance Day is a festival for central government employees, while it may or may not be a general festival depending on the location. In Western Canada and Atlantic Canada, it is a general holiday, while in Ontario and Quebec; central-registered companies may assert it a detailed holiday or designate it such on a different day.
While the holiday was meant to pay respects to those who died during the war, it is also but right to show back to Canadian soldiers who're deployed in other countries by sending Canada Remembrance Day objects such as gifts, cards, custom chocolates, bear bears, photo frames behaviour pics of their loved ones, and little pillows.
You can commemorate Canada Remembrance Day with promotional substance printed with the Canadian poppy. Among the giveaways you can make use of are custom stress relievers, buttons, stickers, notepads, pillows, mouse pads, balloons, and small flags.
Families heap together during Canada Remembrance Day so objects such as custom paper plates, cups, apparatus, tablecloth, tumblers, paper napkins, and other revel essentials will come in near. Commemorative Canada Remembrance Day stuff such as custom cloth napkins and buttons can be embroidered and stamped with poppy patterns as giveaways for the episode.

The Kentucky Fried Chicken concept was pioneered by Colonel Harland Sanders (1890-1980), whose cooking career began at age six. Sanders held jobs ranging from streetcar conductor to insurance salesman, but his cooking skills were a constant throughout his life. In 1930, Sanders operated a service station in Corbin, Ky., and filled the stomachs of hungry travelers who stopped in to fill up their gas tanks. Sanders soon moved his restaurant across the street when he could no longer keep up with the demand from travelers who he had been feeding at his kitchen table. In 1935, the Kentucky Governor made Sanders an honorary Kentucky Colonel for his contributions to the state's cuisine. Over the next decade, the Colonel perfected his secret blend of 11 herbs and spices and the basic cooking technique still used at KFC today. When Sanders was 65, a new interstate highway forced the closure of his restaurant and he was left with only his recipe for fried chicken and a $105 Social Security check. The Colonel hit the road and struck handshake deals with restaurant owners who agreed to sell his fried chicken. What began as a dream fueled by the Original Recipe, a no-quit attitude and a Social Security check grew into the world's largest chicken restaurant chain.
