Nutrisystem Success With Foods Delivered Right to Your Door

Thursday, October 31, 2013

Nutrisystem is a plan of total convenience while on a journey to reach your weight loss goals.  Once you decide on the program, you choose the plan that meets your lifestyle and health, getting connected to the menu foods where you make your selections. You can go with the member favorites and do nothing or make your personal mixture of preferred foods to meet your taste according to the food choices presented.  You are allowed a choice of 28 breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack or dessert choices that are ordered and shipped right to your door once you click the “submit” button.  How easy is that? Just read what Susan from Florida has to say and see if the plan can work for you.

Testimonial by Susan in Florida

Susan was overweight her entire adult life and weighed as much as 300 pounds in a size 24. Her breaking point was on a camping trip, trying to go tubing and could not fit in it to enjoy the activity. She is a young, married woman with no children, yet, and an adorable dog named Samantha.  She decided she needed to shed some pounds and chose the Nutrisystem program because of convenience.  Making food changes was not an easy task; it is hard work but she was determined to follow the plan and lose weight once and for all! She loves chocolate, so she was skeptical of sticking to the plan; however, they do have choices to satisfy most all cravings, including her desire for chocolate. Watch this Nutrisystem Chocolate Cake Taste Test.

Photos of Susan before and after losing 80+ pounds on Nutrisystem

After feeling defeated, fatigued and embarrassed about her weight for so long, Susan was looking for a convenient and successful way to shed her excess weight.  She struggled with various ways to lose weight until she got married and starting gaining again. Although she was 300 pounds at her heaviest, she was done to 260 when she started Nutrisystem. Along with the plan, Susan and her husband began a regimen of walking to gain some fitness, which helped in her weight loss journey. As she felt more stamina and began to decline in weight, she increased her fitness levels and activities. As she states, Nutrisystem was a commitment to change her life permanently.

From the first box of foods that were delivered to her door step, Susan had all the tools she needed to succeed.  She learned portion control and better food choices, even through the holiday seasons.  There was no cheating if she wanted to reach her goals.  The first month showed a loss of ten pounds and extreme higher energy levels.  With her busy schedule, Susan was able to load up on at least 4 servings of fresh vegetables and two fresh fruits daily.  With the foods allowed each day in addition to the fruits and vegetables, she never felt hungry.  Then when the compliments came, along with her progress, she felt so much better about herself with confidence and encouragement.

Nutrisystem food costs less than $10 a day. It can cost you even less if you look for discount coupons in sites like GeekAlert, WeightLossTriumph, and MyCoupons.com.

Is it easy? Susan confirms that sticking to the Nutrisystem plan, along with about 30 minutes of daily physical activity is an easy commitment to reach your goals.  Although it is not a quick weight loss plan, losing a pound or two a week, it is a permanent loss for good health and vitality.  At her ultimate goal, Susan lost 108 pounds and went from a size 24 to a size 4.  Because of her consistent physical toning and exercise, she also has muscle and no extra sagging loose skin. She says that it definitely takes hard work and commitment, but if you are determined to look and feel better, you can achieve your goals the way that Susan did on the Nutrisystem weight loss plan. Maintaining the weight is a lifetime challenge and she keeps track of her progress after Nutrisystem to utilize the tools she gained, along with continual fitness activities to guarantee the weight does not creep back up!  Susan’s sister also joined the plan after her second child to rid that “baby fat” and lost an incredible 70 pounds.

Craftsman 8 1/4 radial arm saw for sale. $75-

We also sold a small table of ours that was used to begin with, and Gerry had re -painted  a year or two ago back, and sold it for $15. It held photos in frames on the top and bottom. Going to now make a shelf above one of the living room windows and put photos up there. Will update with a photo of that once it's done!

Rashell’s Success Story on Weight Watchers

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

Weight Watcher’s has been around for many years where it got its start in the personal kitchen of Ms. Jean Nidetech.  She wanted a healthy way to lose weight, needing the help and support of friends and family to stay on track.  Ms. Nidetech began inviting people over for weekly meetings where they shared health and nutrition tips that led them to a weight loss. Since those kitchen meetings, the word spread worldwide where groups developed by the millions to gather on a weight loss journey.

Rashell’s Successful Path

Rashell was a young lady, age 43 that had a beginning weight of 289 lbs, high blood pressure and cholesterol, along with being pre-diabetic.  Excess weight was a lifelong problem for her but seemed to accelerate after she married the love of her life.  She wanted so much to be fit and enjoy activities with her step-children, husband, pets, family and friends, causing her to decide on a weight loss plan.  Everyone was so supportive in her life, especially her husband who was open to new creative ways of cooking and eating.

Rashell began her journey on Weight Watchers in 2011 and to date has lost 137 pounds.  With the weight loss, she has also gained control of her cholesterol levels and blood pressure.  She is no longer pre-diabetic.  A typical day in the life of this young woman included:

·         A protein breakfast of egg substitute with sausage or bacon and veggies.
·         Lunch often consisted of a fresh salad to include a protein, veggies, pecans and craisins, topped by low-fat or fat-free dressing.
·         A typical dinner would include a Weight Watchers or Lean Cuisine frozen meal accompanied with veggies and/or a salad.
·         Snacks throughout the day included low-fat popcorn, fresh fruits, low-fat, lo-cal yogurt, pudding cups, sugar-free jell-o, just to name a few.

Rashell states that she did not do much exercise throughout but did enjoy a daily walk each morning and sometimes again in the evening.  She claims that this was not a diet but a lifestyle change for permanent weight loss.  She also credits her success to a special treat she allowed herself each Friday as a way to say “a job well done.”

Discounts to Weight Loss

Securing a coupon or other discount of savings is frequently more of an incentive to a weight loss journey to make that crucial step towards a life changing decision.  Being an educated and observant consumer, you can often hear of special televised offers and commercials ads.  Online, you can also Google for savings and may secure some options at http://www.weightlosstriumph.com/weight-watchers-coupon-codes-review-promotional-savings-discounts.html   You can find such values as a six-month savings plan, $25 off a three month savings plan online, 30 percent off meetings and more.  View your choice of options and take note of expiration dates to ensure the best discounts and values. Another site you can look at for Weight Watchers promotions is CouponCabin.

Considerations on Weight Watchers

Following the weight watchers plan can be time consuming and tricky initially, since you count points and not calories.  To determine points, you factor in portions, fat, protein and fiber.  Once you become more familiar with the program, you learn what and what not to eat, along with proper size portions.  Your best bet to success is to get yourself a small electronic points calculator and take it with you everywhere you go, especially when shopping.  You will always be equipped with the important tool for victory in choosing the appropriate foods for a successful weight loss journey.

October is National Cookie Month

October is National Cookie Month, and  is the perfect time to
celebrate all the little joys that cookies have brought into our
lives. From the special ones that we leave for Santa Claus at
Christmas time to the ones we munch on to celebrate the big and small
victories, or just when lounging on the couch. Everyone has a
favorite cookie, as well as a unique way of eating them. Whether you
break them apart, dip them in milk or inhale them whole it is time to
celebrate the happy feelings that cookies bring to our day to day
lives.

Cookies The One Income Dollar Loves:

Skeeter Snacks-

Skeeter Snacks
was born out of the
frustration that the snack market offered no well-priced, great tasting
cookie for those kids who are nut allergic. Specialty stores offered them
but apparently nut free was also gluten free, wheat free, taste free and
the price point was unaffordable. Dave Leyrer and Pete Najarian wanted a
snack that was affordable and tasted great.

The delicious treats are available in 6 mouth-watering varieties- Chocolate
Chunk, Chocolate Cubed, Skeeterdoodle, Golden Oatmeal and all-natural,
whole grain Cinnamon Grahams and Chocolate Chip Minis.

Another Home Update

I've been keeping Gerry busy with projects around the home. All my '"visions" and his "sweat and labor".

He took out the *credenza we had in the office/spare room, cutting it down to a much smaller size. Did some adjustments with that , as well as refinishing it in a Minwax dark walnut stain and covering that with a Minwax polyurethane. The he also reduced the size of the bulletin board and made it smaller as well, and built a shelf above the new desk/work area.
I think he did a wonderful job! Having him re-do the closet doors now in that room as they were white and yellowing, so he has to sand them and re-paint but going with a lighter brown to match or closely match the walls in that room.

* Credenza he originally got from his work as they were throwing it away and buying new furniture for the offices there.

Winter Heating Cost Tips 2013

Monday, October 21, 2013

  1. Turn down your water heater. Most conventional water heaters are set to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Lowering the temperature to 120 degrees or lower can reduce your water-heating costs by 6% to 10%.
  2. Remember that hot water uses fuel too. Take notice of how much you use while bathing and washing dishes, and make an attempt to reduce consumption.
  3.  Consider having a solar water heating component installed. This small, easily installed system is virtually maintenance free and warms the water your family uses on a daily basis, using the free heat from the sun.  And save the receipt because anything you do to be more efficient may be considered a tax write-off.
  4. Eliminate drafts. According to the Energy Department, drafts can waste 5% to 30% of your energy use. Use caulk or weather stripping wherever possible and look around the house for drafts (using a candle to indicate air flow near windows and door jambs).
  5. Change filters or consider using a permanent filter. Disposable fiberglass filters trap 10% to 40% of debris while electrostatic filters trap around 88%, and are much better at controlling the bacteria, mold, viruses and pollen that cause illnesses, allergies and irritation.
  6. Buy a timer for your thermostat or “smart” thermostat ($50-$100) which can be set to change the temperature for you when you know you won’t be at home, etc.
  7. Buy low-flow shower heads and/or more water efficient faucets throughout your home.
  8. Insulate wherever possible. Under doors and over windows (affordable, disposable plastic window coverings are available at most hardware stores and once applied, are virtually invisible). This includes your pipes and water heater (insulate “jackets” for your water heater are available for $25-$75 and are especially helpful if your water heater is in a garage or unheated area).
  9. Use curtains wisely. During the day, leave them open to allow warm sunlight in and close them at night to insulate.
  10. Reverse your ceiling fans to push warm air downward.
  11. Maintain your furnace. Oil-fired boilers should be cleaned and tuned annually, and gas systems, every two years ($100-$125). By maintaining your heating unit, you can save between 3% and 10% on heating bills, says ACEEE.
  12. Research breaks. Many utilities offer discounts or rebates on energy-saving products. Call and ask. Loans are also sometimes available from the Government for major improvements that will incorporate energy-efficient products in your home. And save those receipts because again, anything you do to be more efficient may be considered a tax write-off.
  13. Perform a home energy audit. Your state or local government energy or weatherization office can help you identify a local company or organization that performs audits. Some utilities offer free or discounted home energy audits. Contact yours to find out if this incentive is available.
  14. Stock up on warm blankets and quilts and quilt covers. We recommend buying online like www.justbedding.com.au instead of going to department stores as they often have lower overheads and heavily discounted sale prices in the lead up to Christmas.
The auditor will assess your home and then give you an estimate for upgrading your home for maximum energy efficiency. Again, save those receipts and write the upgrades off!

Battling Student Loan Debt

Sunday, October 20, 2013

Before student debt came along, people only had to worry about regular credit card debt, and that was avoidable with a little self-discipline. These days, everything is costing more money, some of us barely have enough to get by. To make more money, we need a better education. In the long run it doesn't seem like much, but the debt it builds with it seems far too great to conquer. Let’s take a step back to the 1940's.

Back when your grandpa went to college, he could leave with a degree and his bank account still intact. These days, you’ll be lucky if you haven’t gone bankrupt. A four-year degree can rack up to $100,000 or more depending on the university, the degree, and the city budget. If there’s budget cuts then everything and everyone suffers, and that’s the economy we had in 2010 and still do today. If college is on the horizon, you may want to start saving A.S.A.P.

529 Savings Plans and prepaid college plans are one way to go, but they don’t cover everything, and unforeseen expenses are the worst. It’s best to start saving early and don’t stop until you graduate, because the money you save you will need. If you’re not sure how to go about organizing your personal finances, or if you’re worried about the debt you may incur, find a credit counseling agency to talk to about your woes. Consolidated Credit can help you out with a simple phone call, and can give you the tools you need to succeed in battling student loan debt.

Our Weekend Trip To Prince Albert/Saskatoon

Gerry took Friday off this weekend so we could make a trip to the city to pick up up our flooring in Saskatoon and do some shopping in both Saskatoon and in Prince Albert, on the way coming back home.
Things were all clear with the drive going there but we hit snow coming back. Of course people just can't drive the road conditions, and some we seen driving way too fast on the other side of the road from us. Doesn't make you very happy as they are risking getting us into an accident too!

We had to make a stop in Prince Albert and drop Jake off at the kennels before we drove on to Saskatoon, so you can see here, when he went out, all the dogs were "on his tail" so to speak.

Once we got him dropped off at the kennels, it was on to Saskatoon, about another hour's drive.
We made our stop while there at Home Depot, picking out our chestnut oak laminate flooring for our kitchen, hall, laundry room and spare bedroom. There was nice large selection of flooring here as well as the inventory was on hand.

The 45 boxes of flooring was 1,000 lbs., which helped with the weight in the truck for the drive home the next day on roads already being snowed on and messy.
After we picked up our flooring, we managed to grab some grub and do some other shopping before we headed back to Prince Albert, to stay for the evening.
Driving back to Prince Albert was another hour coming back from Saskatoon, but allowed us to stay a bit closer to home, before we headed out the next day.( 4 hour drive Prince Albert-home).
We got ourselves checked in at the Days Inn in Prince Albert for the evening. We actually got $20 in Stay and Play money for the casino close by and another $10 from the casino for signing up for their Players Club (free). Was nice to have $30 each in free casino money. We did win but of course played it back! But we had fun! The hotel was packed when we went though and breakfast from the continental breakfast nook, the next morning, was brought back to our room as it looked liked a whole team was staying there when we were. Friendly staff, clean, and they even allowed us a later check out. Recommended for your next stay while in the area!

Home Improvement with Home Depot

Wednesday, October 16, 2013

This Friday we'll  be heading off to Saskatoon, and while there, we will be shopping at Home Depot Canada. When you become a homeowner, this soon becomes your favorite store. It's surprising just how many things that are needed in the simple maintenance of home and property, or what fun things you can find when you are doing improvements.
Gerry and I will be replacing the laminate and tile flooring in our home, and will be sure to share photos with everyone of our Before and After shots.
Right now it is a "mishmash" of different colors, and it would be nice to have an even color and feel throughout our home.
Thankfully there is quite a selection at Home Depot and as such, we hope to get some higher quality laminate flooring, that will not only look nice but that will also last. While there, we will be sure to snoop around some too  because you never know what you may find when shopping at the Home Depot.

Book Review: Bullets and Bread

Review by: Cynthia

"Bullets and Bread" is a unique book that deals with feeding Americans on the battlefield and at home.  I enjoyed reading and learning about the people, the food of the era, what they had to eat and what foods they liked.

This book is divided into three sections, history, memoirs and recipes.  I enjoy cooking and baking, and can remember my grandmother on the farm cooking large amounts of food.  They would even invite the salesmen who came around to eat meals with them.

For those who enjoy photography as I do, there are many photos in the book of famous and everyday people of WW 11.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys WW 11 history.  It has interesting facts that I wasn't aware of before, it is an easy read with a good variety of facts and recipes.
