Having City Fun Without Leaving Town

Not all of us can live near the hustle and bustle of the city, and some of us don't want to. As much as we love the rural life sometimes you can crave the excitement of an urban area. Here are some ways you can have a little big city fun without having to leave your small town postal code.

Dinner theme nights:

If you cannot go to the hottest restaurant in town, make the food come to you. Talk with some friends and maybe have an international potluck, or even try something you saw on the food channel. It can be a great a frugal way to try a new dish.

Check online for entertainment:

Casinos and Bingo parlors are a source of entertainment for many folks, however if you do not have one in your town (or just don’t feel like going out) you can head online and check out live casino reviews at online-live-casinos.com. Try out some games, but make sure to set a budget, and stick to it.

Be a tourist in your own town: 

Sometimes we can get too comfortable where we live, and it may be hard for us to see what others find spectacular in your area. It may be the time to hit the local information center and see what they recommend to people stopping by, and then check it out. You may discover some wonderful things that you didn't know where hidden right in your very own back yard.

Review: Sabatasso’s NEW Thin and Crispy Gluten Free Pizza

Today it seems that more and more people are opting for the gluten free lifestyle. While there are many reasons why people would try to give up gluten, most of us can agree that it can be very difficult sometimes to find gluten-free foods to love.  Not only do they require trips to specialty stores, some of them do not taste like the real thing. Good news that what were once considered gluten rich foods such as pizza are no longer off limits.

Recently, I had a chance to review Sabatasso’s NEW Thin and Crispy Gluten Free Pizza. While the crust was chewier than most regular pizzas we've tried, it was nice and thin. I did not think you sacrifice taste at all with this gluten free pizza. Best yet, it is available at Costco, so you can easily pick it up on your regular grocery run, without having to check lots of natural food stores. Good for you food - convenient and delicious and  no longer hard to find.

 Gluten-free does not have to be a dirty word, with delicious taste and accessibility check out Sabatasso’s new pizza, whether you are already living a gluten free lifestyle or are just trying out a healthier alternative.

Day 3-Vancouver

Well, we didn't do too much today. I have a cold and was taking medication that was suppose to be non drowsy but really made me tired- and it's been like that for the whole day!

We will be leaving though tomorrow, to fly back into Saskatoon for the evening, before leaving for home on the 28th.

Today we only went to eat a few times and went from the airport area,where we are staying, into the far end of Vancouver for a one hour harbour cruise with Harbour Cruises. We really enjoyed and highly would recommend. The boat is covered  so you can view from the deck or inside the boat. As well they do a play by play commentary so we learnt alot about the harbour.

We did want to see a few other things, including the zoo, but just too far out of the way from where we were staying.Also was disappointed to go to Canada Place to check out the Imax and find it to be closed. 

Will be packing up tomorrow and saying good bye to Vancouver.

We both must say that although we enjoyed the top attractions in the area, we won't miss the busy city. City life is not for us.

Review: VikingCycle Dark Age Motorcycle Jacket for Men

There are a few things in men’s fashions that have stood the test of time- a well made suit, a good pair of jeans, and a leather jacket. Everything else seems to date the wearer to a specific decade, however these three things look right at home from the Mad Men era of the 1950s and 60s to the modern day, with minor modifications of course.

Recently, Gerry had the chance to review one of these three main stays in the man’s wardrobe a VikingCycle leather jacket. This was a black leather motorcycle jacket which was fabulously priced at under $100, which anyone who has ever shopped for a leather jacket knows is a great price.

The jacket is made of quality cowhide leather with very nice antique brass hard ware. The lining can be zipped out which makes this a great jacket for all types of weather, which is good living in Canada. There are also zipper vents on the front, the back and the sleeves, which are very practical and also add a little extra something to the look and the feel of the jacket. Of course there are several zippered pockets which as every man know are a must, especially when using this jacket on a motorcycle. When ordering there is a sizing guide to follow, and we found that the jacket does fit true to size, which was great, no surprises.

The jackets are have a heavy feel to them which is a must when riding a motorcycle, as it offers maximum protection in the event that you meet asphalt, but it is nice to have great looking jacket that offers this type of protection. Day 2- Vancouver

We had another rainy day here in Vancouver, but that doesn't stop alot of folks from going out and seeing the sites. After all this is Vancouver- and it is known for it's rain. The vegatation here is amazing though. Such nice trees and plants everywhere. 

We headed yesterday to the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park- a must see and a place I've wanted to see for a long time. It's a must see area, and so well put together.

I must admit I took no pictures while actually on the bridge. I almost didn't think I would mentally make it across.. but did better and was more prepared walking back across. It sways and sometimes more than others, depending how many people are walking on it, and on which sides.Something that you have to mentally prepare for. I just kept thinking of that guy that walked across the Grand Canyon and how he must have felt on that tightrope!

Above the ground- in the TreeTops  Adventure.

After our stop at the Capilano Suspension Bridge we headed a bit more up the road to Grouse Mountain. Another must see! Took the Skyride to the top of the mountain. Once up there, we enjoyed the Lumberjack Show, very entertaining and comical.The weather was terrible but they really did not let that damper how they entertained! Hats off!

The Grizzly Sanctuary was also at the top.But missed the Eye of The Wind due to weather and visibility.

The Refuge for Endangered Wildlife is principally comprised of a five-acre mountaintop habitat that is home to two orphaned Grizzly Bears, and a three-acre Timber Wolf habitat located at the base of the mountain, which we saw on the ride down.

All in all a great place to visit. Make sure BOTH are on your list of things to do when you stop in Vancouver.

Back for the evening at the Delta at the Airport. So relaxing!

Delta Airport Vancouver

Will be laying our heads tonight and Wednesday night, at the Delta Vancouver Airport. The Delta Airport is situated on the waterfront, overlooking an adorable marina. If there is one thing that Vancouver is known for it are the mountains and the water, so its nice to have a great view of one of them.

Delta Vancouver Airport is accented by the charm of boats floating in the 138-slip marina on the banks of the Fraser River. Connections with nature are everywhere. More than 20 kms of riverside trails surround this haven among Vancouver airport hotels. Yet it lies only 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver and on the doorstep of the Vancouver International Airport.

There are some wonderful restaurants very close to the property, including one that is a pier situated in the middle of the marina. There is also a bar as well as a lovely restaurant in the lobby of the hotel.  For those looking to stay fit while travelling, the Delta Airport also features a great fitness center which includes a pool. The fitness center is open 24 hours a day.

The hotel rooms have the features that I always look for while travelling, such as free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a good television, etc. Items like a tub in the room, a hair dryer and complimentary in room coffee, can be the little things that make your stay great. Be sure to also check out makes their hotel great for families travelling while in Vancouver.

Day 1- Vancouver and Area

We seemed to have a full day of rain today. Good thing I heard what Vancouver weather can be like- so if your visiting, check that forecast before you come here. You may need to bring umbrellas. Lots of gals out today with their stylish rain boots, and umbrellas.

Stopped in Stanley Park today. Beautiful place to stop while on your stay here. See the Lions Gate Bridge -(behind me in the background here), Rose Garden, the Totem Poles, and much more! Check out the Stanley Park Horse Drawn Carriages and even the Vancouver Aquarium!

Also visited the Vancouver Lookout today. It has a great 360 degree view of the city, with an elevator that goes along the outside of the building.

Arrived Last Night-Vancouver

Made it in to Vancouver late last night. Well, at least late our time back home. They are two hours behind us, so a bit hard to get used to the time difference. Back home I am usually up by 7:30, so guess what? Got up at 5:30 today. Gerry slept for a few more hours and I played around on the lap top, but my tummy is telling me it's way past breakfast, so Gerry is just showering and we'll be heading down to the continental breakfast here at the Days Inn near the Vancouver airport.

It was nice getting in to the airport last night and having only about a 5 minute drive over to the hotel, as it was raining and dark. Not a good combination when you don't know the area and looking for your hotel.
I think as well the weather is calling for rain all day today, so glad we brought a combination of clothes.
