Review and Giveaway: Blender Boyz (Canada and USA)

Friday, August 16, 2013

Summer time means sipping cool blended drinks by the pool, or sipping cool drinks and dreaming about a pool. Recently, my daughters have had a chance to review Blender Boyz fruit smoothies, frozen coffees and cocktail mixes, and they could not say enough good things about them.

The mixes are made with real fruit and coffee and come in pre-measured packages which makes assembly super easy and convenient with absolutely no measuring and practically no clean up. There is a huge variety of flavors to choose from such as strawberry banana, iced cappuccino, tropical paradise, berry blend daiquiri, margarita and Pina Colada mixes just to name the very few.
Once you are ready to make your drink you can customize it by trying some new ingredients or even just substitute yogurt for coffee and getting an entirely new taste experience. This is a great product for those looking for easy and convenience with a side of smoothie. Online ordering is available!

Blender Boyz has offered to give away 2 mixed cases of Blender Boyz smoothie and cocktail mixes PLUS a Hamilton Beach personal blender to one lucky reader in the USA and one in Canada.
Random.org will be making the draw on August 27, 2013 from all entries received.

Good Luck to All!

Miller's Landing, Bass Lake, California

When in California we will be  spending some time at Miller’s Landing. We hear it's  a great place to hang out, put your feet up and enjoy the Californian summer sunshine. If you don't  feel like simply basking in the Californian scenery, there are plenty of things to keep yourself amused. Many people rent ski boats and Sea Doos in order to have some fun on the water. There are so many things to do on the water that you will never be bored, and it is the perfect place to introduce kids to water sports as well.

Furthermore the resort has a little Marina at which you can rent a boat or even dock a boat you already own. However many people are simply satisfied looking out at the sunset overlooking the Marina. The resort has several cabins for rent, which give you a lot more rustic and unique experience (with modern accommodations) than what you would get in a standard hotel room.
The resort features a general store and little restaurant/grill which grills up the perfect lakeside treats such as hamburger, hot dogs, patty melts and ice cream. Located on Bass Lake in the beautiful Sienna National Forest, we are really looking forward to our stay there.

It's also good to know they are a pet friendly resort, but our Jakey will be sadly staying behind once again.

Sunday- July 21st Plus an August 16th Update

Well, the end to another weekend- today being very wet and cool. I even cut the furnace in. I know not too frugal of me, but I have problems with my circulation and hands and feet were freezing. Had to.Just to take the chill out. I'm not very good when the weather turns cooler.

We sold our garden tiller today. The garden was not coming up too well this year, and the peas Gerry already had to take out because they weren't growing well and what did come up, dried up. We've decided for the little bounty we've gotten out of it since we have been planting, and the amount of work required to fight the weeds, that after this planting is done for the year, we will cover it back in with grass. Even our raspberries have not taken yet .

Gerry did finish the siding though, so I'm posting some before and after shots of the front, but think we may still add some white siding for the skirting and cover over the older white boards.May be able to get some on local trading post on Facebook- someone may have some leftover pieces to sell.

Took down our white ceiling fan in our bedroom and replaced with one I got on sale in a dark brown, at Canadian Tire, for $34.99-  40% off. Just trying to sell the white one now, and Gerry taped in our room to get ready to paint tonight. Going from light yellow to a beige. Walmart had paint on sale - $25 a gallon, and we bought 2 with money he had made from selling something else we had.

Gerry's  also had to to do some fixing up in the main bathroom. Trailer shifted again and caused some cracking and peeling of the paint, so has to touch it up- again. Have this happen every few months.Frustrating.

Me, I've been entering alot of online contests lately, when I'm not out walking, spending time with the dog, blogging or doing the day to days.  I've won 2 x $25 gifts cards in two giveaways this month and a coupon for a  bag of candy. Have fun dreaming of the prizes to be won! Erika enters quite a bit as well and has won a few prizes under $200 this month. Going to Greece next month from one of the contests she won a few months ago! 1 week island hopping trip plus got $2,000 in Visa gift cards.

Have a great week everyone....

August 16th update:
Decided to add siding to the front part of the trailer and covered over the skirting. Just on the front part-$109 -gives it a nice clean and new look- to go with the new siding.

Yosemite's Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad

On our upcoming Californian vacation we will be checking out the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. This  is right up Gerry’s alley, (being his job is a traffic supervisor at the mining company he works at), but I think I can have a lot of fun there as well.
This is a great chance of experiencing travel of ye old past in a Logger Steam Train, although not as fast as modern transportation, it sure is a lot more interesting and much better than sitting in traffic. We are very much looking forward to this trip around the woods.
There is also a  moonlight special, which is a tour which occurs in the evening, and  is very popular, as there is something uniquely wonderful about the enjoying a old fashioned train ride underneath the nights sky.
There will be plenty to do on this Yosemite Mountain adventure. Gerry and I are really excited to pan for real gold at Gold Rush City. Here, the instructor will show you how to search for this yellow treasure, just like they had in the past. Who knows, maybe we will strike it rich and pay for our next trip with the gold that we find? Even if we won’t, it will still be a lot of fun just to look for it. We are very excited about this stop on our trip.

Sometimes you just want to enjoy a delicious dessert without worrying what it will do to your health and your waist line. Luckily there are some foods out there that not only taste sinfully delicious, but that are also good for you.

Recently Gerry and I have reviewed Enjoy Life Foods Decadent Soft Baked Bars. These bars come in four great flavors such as S’mores, Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Sun Butter and Cinnamon Bun. Whole Foods Market - Fresno, Ca.

Thursday, August 15, 2013

When we travel, we always try to stop by a  Whole Foods Market for some healthy and delicious meal and snack options. They aren't at every town/city we travel through but we do seek them out when we are on our travels. It often ends up being a lot less expensive than eating out, and it is a whole lot healthier. On our upcoming Californian vacation, we will be stopping by, Whole Foods Market in Fresno.

We can stock up on some foods that we take back to the hotel with us, and that way we have healthy and delicious options no matter what time of day, plus you don’t even have to get dressed to go out in search of foods. There is something for everyone. Whole Foods Market offers fresh meats, fruits and veggies, amazing pre-made salads as well as fresh juices.  Their bakery can even rival any quaint mom and pop shop, and their bread is not only healthy it is also amazing.

When you travel it is really easy to make unhealthy choices. Thankfully, with markets like Whole Foods it is really easy to make some healthy choices as well. If you stock up on easy to grab snacks you will always have healthy alternatives at your very own fingertips, no matter where your travels and adventure may take you.

Review and Giveaway: Purex Plus Oxi (Canada only)

Sunday, August 11, 2013

Laundry is a double edged sword. We all hate doing it, folding it, and putting it away, while at the same time we love the clean feeling and great smell of freshly laundered clothing. We do a lot of laundry in our house, and both my daughters come over to use our machines.

Recently we tried Purex plus Oxi liquid detergent. Purex is very affordable and with the added clean power and Zoust stain remover. No need to rewash your clothing. Plus your whites do not get that dull gray color that you can sometimes get with other detergents. Best yet you can use it on all types of clothes that you put in the washing machine, and it is hypoallergenic and good for sensitive skin. With all the laundry that out family does it is great to have an affordable product that goes a long way to keep our clothes clean.

We'd love to share one free product coupon with 2 of our readers
2 lucky winners will be chosen by Random.org drawing on August 25, 2013 from all Canadian entries received.

The Radisson Hotel- Saskatoon, Sask.

Saturday, August 10, 2013

Before we head out on our Californian adventure, we will be spending the night at the Radisson Hotel Saskatoon.

It's a 5-6 hour drive for us to the Saskatoon, from where we live, so staying in the city before our flight just makes everything so much easier for everyone involved.

The Radisson Hotel Saskatoon has a central downtown location but has a quiet side to it as well. It  boasts some spectacular views of the South Saskatchewan River Valley. Plus is so close to nature that you can take advantage of its walks and jogging trails all year round.  Apart from the great location the hotel also offers some great amenities such as a heated underground parking lot (amazing in Canadian winters), 14 meeting rooms, high speed internet access in all the rooms, a fitness center and a water works recreation complex featuring a pool, a water slide and a whirlpool.

The hotel rooms offer all that you have come to expect from a world class hotel including complimentary features such as coffee, newspaper, internet access and local calls-all this, with great views of the river or the city center.

We are looking forward to our stay as it will be a relaxing prelude for our adventure.

California Here We Come!

Friday, August 9, 2013

Well, we cannot stay grounded for long and as such Gerry and I, are off for another adventure to visit Yosemite National Park and  area. We love national parks, and while in California we hope to do the Majestic Mountain Loop. This loop involves a visit to three majestic national parks; Yosemite, King’s Canyon and Sequoia. There are different itineraries and timelines that hikers can follow, just to make the experience completely their own. For us the cherry on the cake will be  Yosemite National Park.

When in Yosemite, many people visit the famed valley with the El Captain the world’s tallest monolith, and one of the top rock climbing destinations in the world. Additional claims to fame are the gigantic Sequoia trees, some of which are over 3000 years old. Yosemite falls is the largest waterfall in North America with postcard worthy views.

This trip will not only be about wilderness, as we will visit civilization as well, in Fresno, Oakhurst, and  Visalia, California. We can't wait to go- will be leaving the first week of September and will be sure to keep everyone in the "loop."

If anyone has traveled in these areas, we would love to hear from you.

Review and Giveaway: Okabashi Footwear (USA and Canada)

Thursday, August 8, 2013

Sometimes it is good to try something new, even if it is just flip flops.
Gerry and I recently reviewed Okabashi flip flops, and believe it or not, it was Gerry’s first pair of flip flops ever! We both reviewed the Indigo style which comes in styles for both men and women. These are not you cheap foam flip slops. Okabashi massage your feet; have great arch support and an ergonomic foot. Their material contains an antimicrobial agent, anti-slip features, and anti-odor. They are 100% recyclable and have a guarantee for over two years.  You can even throw them in the dishwasher to clean, how easy is that?

We definitely saw a huge difference in the comfort that these shoes offered compared to the regular foam flip flop. You would not be afraid to take them on a walking trip. Even Gerry is now a convert to these shoes.

Okabashi would love to give away a pair of their footwear to one lucky reader -man or woman- from Canada or the USA. A random draw will be made by Random.org on August 23, 2013 from all entries received.

To Enter:
Leave your email and tell Okabashi which pair of their footwear is YOUR favorite style.
