An Afternoon At the Great Pumpkin Smash and Two Bucket List Checks

It was Gerry's birthday today so we did lunch with the "kids" and went ourselves  to the Great Pumpkin Smash. Who says things like this are just for kids- because yes- there were alot of adults without kids too! It was a beautiful day and I also checked off two things from my bucket list:

**The pumpkins at this event were locally sourced. Many would otherwise be unharvested for market or come from a failed crop, impacted by frost. None of the pumpkins smashed at this event will be painted, so they can be used for livestock feed.

-ax throwing- although I totally bombed at it- LOL 

Couldn't really give this one my all because of a rotator cuff injury last year, and my bad back...wanted to be careful.. but it wasn't easy throwing it high enough and forget about making it stick in there!

Even Jack and Sally were there from Nightmare Before Christmas! I made sure to get my picture taken because our oldest daughter Ria is a big fan!

Bucket List Check: Bull Riding Event- 2022 PBR Canada Cup Series Event

Brock Radford Wins PBR Canada Cup Series Event in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Surging to No. 3 in the Heated Battle to be Crowned the 2022 PBR Canada Champion!

Since moving to Medicine Hat, Alberta a few months ago, we have been able to take in some great entertainment, and there has been so much to see in do. The 2022 PBR Canada Cup Series Event hit last night and what a great event it was. The Co-op Place was where is was held and man - our first time there- huge place! From the moment we got there, there was an excitement all around. The bulls were all brought in and housed near the arena, and once the event started, the riders were introduced. 

The PBR (Professional Bull Riders) was created in 1992 when a group of 20 ambitious bull riders decided to flee the rodeo scene and bring more attention to professional bull riding. Headquartered in Pueblo, CO, the PBR expanded in 2006 and brought the brand to Canada.

The PBR’s cowboy athletes have to be physically strong, mentally tough and well conditioned to survive the week-in, week-out rigors of the Toughest Sport on Earth! Good physical and mental preparations are critical to success in the sport and also help mitigate the effects of inevitable injuries.

Bulls range from roughly 1,200 pounds to more than 2,000 pounds!

The rider must ride with only one hand. If any part of the rider’s free arm comes in contact with the bull or their body, the rider is disqualified and the clock will stop. If the rider is bucked off or the clock is stopped for a disqualification prior to the 8 second buzzer, the rider receives no score.

The event was a perfect bucket list check off,  and highly recommend to see at least once in your lifetime.

Following a one-week break, the 2022 PBR Canada Sup Series, presented by Wrangler, will next travel to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and SaskTel Centre on Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29. Action for the PBR Saskatoon Classic, presented by Redhead Equipment and CASE IH, will get underway nightly at 7:00 p.m. MT.

Duct Cleaning- It's Worth It!

A few weeks ago we had a local duct cleaning company come and spend a few hours cleaning our ducts. 

Being new home owners to a place that needed a good cleaning when we moved in, and us with allergies, it was well worth the $300 to have it done. Guy said there was pet hair and lots of dirt and dust in them. It's good to be able to turn on the furnace and not worry about what's blowing in the air from owners past!

Always Something to Do Saturdays

Never seems like there is a dull moment here in the city, especially Saturdays- or most days for that matter- always can find something happening, and always someone raising money or trying to make money.

Today we stopped at a car dealership's carnival of sorts, but soon found out it was mostly geared towards kids and young families, but we did grab some of Tully's mini donuts ... 14 for $6.. and so tasty!

Also went to a huge indoor fund raising sale to support Police Service Facility Dogs, and got to meet the dogs as well. It was pay what you wish so that was pretty good,  and did find a few treasures. We also had given a few boxes of things for donations. 

Found an "in excellent shape"  queen bed frame with headboard and footboard- through Facebook Marketplace- and only paid $20! Will be for our daughter's mattress for when she comes to visit. Always has kept her mattress on the floor but then the bed feels cold she says. Since furniture is a big expense, it's great when one can get a great deal on it.
