Day 3 of Our Trip To Vegas
Sunday, October 31, 2010
There wasn`t a post from me for yesterday as we spent most the day travelling.
I didn`t feel the greatest on the plane and took gravol a few times -but made it here in good shape otherwise.
We picked up a rental car and had to get a gps as well. For some reason, ours was not working-grrrr-so that costed us $50,but you sure need it to get around in the city.
Didn`t realize at the airport either that they charge you $25 per bag each way for luggage.Another unexplected expense. And gone are the days when you get anything on the plane expect for a beverage. What ever happened to the free pack of cookies or pretzels??
Weather has been cool in the mornings but hot by late afternoon.
We`re doing good but tired by the end of the day from all the running around and they are on PST here so we are all messed up with our eating and sleeping times.
-have to pay for internet service at the resort here- $25 for 3 days
-spent too much on the slot machines- and didn`t win anything,(I know -not very thrifty of me- that is one of our weaknesses though and we are in Vegas after all)-LOL
-went to Ethel M`s chocolate factory today and the Cactus Gardens...it was a non making chocolate day though so didn`t see them making chocolates but did get to sample and see where they made them...lots of nice cactus outdoors too and wild bunnies running amongst them.( free to see both)
-Saw the Auto Show Collection -lots of cars-had free tickets we were able to print off online
-Went to Walmart to pick up some food stuff and were amazed by the selection at the super centre. We just have a very basic one back home and no food in ours.
-Went to the Greg London Las Vegas show tonight...that was truly the hightlight of our day. I had never heard of him before we recieved tickets to the show, but he said he has only been playing in Vegas for 3 months but has been in the business longer. It sometimes take a while to get to the top, but this guy is truly getting there one step at a time. His musical impressions are amazing and his band and dancers really add to his show.My favorites were his impressions of Elvis and Kermit the Frog singing with Ozzy Ozbourne- truly, truly a great evening for us both!
Long day, and late night, but you`ll hear from me again,as we continue our Vegas travels.
Day 1 of Our Trip
Friday, October 29, 2010
Well, we made it to Saskatoon for my doctor appt.
Checked into our hotel room which we had gotten free with our Areoplan points, and told we were recieving a room upgrade to a suite- so that was a nice surprise.I learnt that the cost of a regular priced room was $130 plus taxes, compared to $210 plus taxes for this suite-wow! We are staying at the Best Western in Saskatoon,Sk. and it is quite nice.Friendly staff and nice decor and layout.I love the king sized bed, but we have entrance to our room at street level so you can hear everyone that walks by your door...that`s not such a good thing. Still, the suite was such a nice treat compared to your regular sized room.
We were able to sell a few things we had for sale to some foks in the city through Kijiji.Living in a small town you can`t always find a buyer for some things, so I listed a few things on there, got some buyers and dropped them off here. Money went towards our trip.$210.
I had a gift card with some $$ left on it from before, so that paid for lunch at Pizza Hut.
Had a Red Lobster one too, but the wait was half hour just to get in tonight,so we went to a fast food place instead... will have to use that card another time.
Leaving tommorow around 2pm to Vegas....won`t get there till 8 pm...then it will be picking up the car and getting over to our resort at the Grandview at Las Vegas. Will be nice to get away from the snow we have here and the cold weather.
Till next time....
How To Prepare a Gourmet Thanksgiving Feast on a Tight Budget
Thursday, October 28, 2010
When one thinks of Thanksgiving, the traditional feast is most likely the first thing that comes to mind. From the delicious mashed potatoes to the giant stuffed turkey, from the cranberry sauce to the green bean casserole, the traditional ideas of what foods are to be served at Thanksgiving are rather engrained into our heads. Unfortunately, preparing all of those pots of food is not only time-consuming, but can cost your wallet a pretty penny.
Thankfully, all hope is not lost, as throwing a Thanksgiving dinner doesn't have to be a cost-prohibitive affair. Regardless of whether you're on a tight budget, or simply hoping to reign in some of the unnecessary expenditures that often accompany the Thanksgiving holiday, saving money on the meal is rather easy to do. You may even find that a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner spices up things in your kitchen!
While many people are hesitant to serve something other than the traditional bird and stuffing, the entire point of this holiday is to focus on giving and sharing with those around you. Your friends and family may expect you to serve turkey, but why not mix it up this year? Have you ever shared a Thanksgiving feast around a freshly-baked pizza? Maybe this year could be a “Tex-Mex” themed buffet? By using your creativity, you could theoretically make this Thanksgiving meal an absolutely unforgettable day for everyone, while saving your cash.
If you're dead set on serving the traditional Thanksgiving foods, why not consider asking your friends and family to pitch in? Most guests generally inquire as to whether they can bring anything along anyhow, so why not take advantage of their offer and assign each guest a dish to bring? You can take care of roasting the turkey, while the other guests at your meal bring a side dish or dessert. If you do decide to go this route, consider assigning specific dishes to each person, as to avoid five different green bean casseroles showing up on Thanksgiving, and not a single pumpkin pie.
Should you feel uncomfortable about asking others to pitch in, you'll need to whittle your menu down to make things more simple. There are tons of different dishes that are associated with Thanksgiving, but you are not obligated to serve every one of them. Choose to serve one protein, two side dishes and dessert, and call it a day. So long as potatoes and turkey are on your guests plates, they likely won't even notice anything else is missing.
Remember to make your own dishes, rather than purchasing them prepared, as you'll save yourself the wasted money, and likely end up with a better dish. Furthermore, for savings on the basic ingredients, farmers markets and local stores often offer better deals than the big-box supermarket chains. Regardless of what foods end up on your final table, the most important thing is that you will be spending time with those you love. Truly, what could make for a nicer Thanksgiving than that?

Las Vegas' Greg London - Impressions That Rock! ( Sponsor: Riviera Hotel & Casino)
I must say, I had never heard of Greg London till recently when looking at shows in Vegas. Although he's not one of the bigger acts, I think he should be! From what I've seen on video, this guy is a blast and very entertaining, and we can't wait to go see his show!
Greg London ICONS at the Riviera Hotel and Casino is said to be the best show, entertainment and attraction in Las Vegas for those looking for a great attraction.
Greg London is a masterful musical impressionist whose spot-on impressions have earned him numerous recognitions as one of the most talented entertainers performing today. Nevada Magazine named Greg London the “2009 Entertainer of the Year” after a readers’ poll vote, and he was awarded “Best Show of Northern Nevada” for Greg London’s “ICONMAN.” Also London received an award for “Best Adult Contemporary Song” at the 2009 Hollywood Music in Media Awards. Recently, London has opened a show on the Las Vegas Strip called “Greg London’s ICONS” at the Riviera Hotel and Casino.
Among the “ICONS” that are part of London’s fascinating repertoire are Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Tina Turner , Ray Charles, Sammy Davis, Jr., Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson, Macy Gray , Tony Bennett, David Cassidy, Dean Martin, David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks of The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Freddie Mercury/Queen, Barry Manilow, Elton John, Joe Cocker, Bruce Springsteen, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Jim Morrison of the Doors, ZZ Top, David Bowie, Axl Rose, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan, Robin Gibb of The Bee Gees, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Garth Brooks, Randy Travis, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Julio Iglesias, Tom Jones, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ozzy Osbourne, Kermit The Frog, James Bond (Sean Connery version), Austin Powers and the “Phantom of the Opera.”
We can't wait to see you Greg and will tell everyone about you after the show!
8 New Ways to Decorate Your Pumpkin (To Last Until Thanksgiving)
I absolutely love the holidays. Having the family together is a feeling that I will always cherish, so the preparation that is involved is always worth it. In fact, I truly enjoy decorating. Transforming our home into a haunted house or a Thanksgiving feast really gives me a true sense of accomplishment! However, one complaint I do have is the short-lived nature of some of our decorations, especially since we're getting closer to Halloween. It would be great to be able to use the pumpkin that I have for Halloween for Thanksgiving as well, since the two holidays are so close together! Here are some ideas I was able to come up with for making that Halloween pumpkin last;
Put aside the knives. If you want to keep your pumpkin for the long haul, its important not to carve into it. There are various methods for making a carved pumpkin last longer, but none of them will help it last more than a couple of weeks. And there is nothing worse than seeing all of your hard work mold and fall apart after just a few days.
Paint it. It seems a shame to let your great idea for your jack-o-lantern design go to waste, so rather than carving it out, just paint it on! The great thing about paint is that you can use different colors to liven up your design. Plus, when Halloween is passed, you can just turn the pumpkin around and paint a Thanksgiving-themed design on the other side.
Temporary Tattoos. Grab some holiday-themed temporary tattoos and decorate your pumpkin with them. They're easy to apply and just as easy to remove (little rubbing alcohol and your good to go!) so you can use your pumpkin after Halloween.
Ribbons and bows. For a quick, no-fuss, and great looking centerpiece, in festive colors. This is particularly fun because after Halloween, you can remove the ribbons and use new ones for your Thanksgiving theme!
Creative display. Get pumpkins of various sizes and find unique ways to display them around your house, both inside and out. If you have a front porch with even a couple of steps, make a cascading display with pumpkins of various sizes, shapes, and colors to greet visitors to your home throughout the fall. You can keep it interesting by adding potted flowers amidst your presentation.
Unique centerpieces. Decorate your pumpkins with flowers, leaves, and other fall-themed foliage and place them on your table. They make a great conversation piece and a lovely addition to your fall get-to-gethers. If you have an interesting large platter, you can also use them as the focal point for a fruit or dessert display - a great way to add color and an eatable touch!
Candles. You don't have to cut your pumpkin open to use it as a candle holder. Remove the stem of the pumpkin and use the resulting dip in the top of the pumpkin to cradle your candle. Decorate around it for a unique candle-holder and display.
It is a fruit, after all. Whatever else you decide to do with your pumpkin, you can make sure to use the whole thing by creating desserts and snacks from the insides. Roast the pumpkin seeds or make them into pumpkin-seed brittle. Pumpkin pancakes are always a hit around our house, and who can say "no" to that old standby, fresh pumpkin pie?
Whatever you do with your pumpkin for the fall holidays, be creative and have fun. Getting the most out of your decorations is a great way to save money and provide a festive atmosphere for your family and guests during these great holidays.

5 Tips For Huge Holiday Savings
As anyone who has been responsible for purchasing gifts for an entire family during the Christmas season can attest to, the cost of the holidays can easily add up. Fortunately, when armed with the right approach and resources, you'll be able to save yourself some money, while still giving great gifts to those around you. Here are a few great tips for managing your spending this Christmas.
Look through the coupons in local publications. Though coupons are no longer as popular as they once were, many retailers still use these little slips of paper to advertise great deals in their stores. Furthermore, many online websites catalogue coupons which are currently valid for both online retailers and physical stores. Retailmenot.com, Couponmountain .com, and Couponmom.com are a few great resources for finding current coupons and discount codes that will save you green.
Use price comparison websites to find the best deal. Your local retailer may tell you that their prices are truly the lowest, but by taking to the computer you can determine whether there is any truth to his claims. Comparing prices on expensive items online can easily save you several dollars, as prices at different retailers often vary greatly. Shopping online can also save you significant amounts on sales tax, as online retailers without physical stores in your state of residence are not obligated to charge you tax. Some useful websites for comparison shopping include Shopping.com and Pricegrabber.com
Use an alert service to notify you about new deals. Many different websites offer alert services, which will allow you to receive a notification when a new deal is available. You may want to consider using Google Alert to setup notifications regarding possible sales you'd be interested in. Furthermore, consider signing up for the digital newsletter of stores at which you frequently shop. All sales and coupons will likely be included in this newsletter, and receiving it by email will allow you to be more proactive in purchasing items quickly, before they go out of stock.
Be an early buyer. Because shopping during the Christmas season can be a pain, many people put off their Christmas shopping until the very last minute. Unfortunately, in doing so, you'll miss many of the best deals of the season. By hitting the shops early, you'll be striking while items are still in stock and before last minute price changes have gone into effect.
Shop through cashback websites. Cashback websites allow you to earn money back on purchase you would have made otherwise, often times giving you several percent back. What could be easier than that? Reputable cashback sites that have been recognized by the national media include Ebates.com and Myrebates.com.
Regardless of what method works best for you, by using some of these helpful tips you'll be sure to incur big savings on this year's Christmas gifts. Furthermore, all of these useful tips can be used to keep saving on your purchases year-round. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving!

Review and Giveaway: Board Book Albums
My mom loves photography so I thought it would be fitting to have her review one of the board book albums from Board Book Albums.
" I thought the photo album to be rather unique, it would make a perfect gift filled with photos for different relatives. With Christmas coming up I am sure great grandma would love an album filled with family pictures.....an ideal gift for someone who has everything. Another idea is take pictures of grandkids' birthday parties and give the album to them as a belated birthday gift. Now, who doesn't love photos? The book itself is very sturdy and will stand up to lots of handling, the plastic pages are perfect for keeping the photographs from getting all marked up. I think these books would make the ideal gift for anyone. I like the small size that I got."
Each white photo album is 7" x 7" with 10 white pages inside the cover. Each album holds 20 4" x 6" photos and has a cover photo frame that holds a slightly smaller photo (about 4" x 5", so you can just trim a 4" x 6" photo to fit). Each white Take Your Pix ™ board book album is blank with no lettering and comes with a removable baby photo in the cover frame. The solid white albums are perfect for wedding albums, scrapbooking and decorating yourself. Kids can have fun decorating their own books with stickers, stamps, or markers. Grandparents love to give and receive our albums as gifts! The white albums are also great for wedding showers gifts, bridesmaid’s gifts, and wedding reception favors.
Board Book Albums would like to give away one album to one lucky winner from the USA or Canada.

Five Low-Cost Dental Care Options
Dental care can seem overly expensive in our current economy and worth postponing, especially if you don’t have dental insurance. However, dental hygiene is extremely important to our overall health, including regular visits to professionals like this dentist in Silverton, Oregon.
Even if dental insurance is not currently available, there are several alternatives worth researching to find low-cost or even free dental care.
National Programs
Affiliated with the National Institutes of Health, the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) organizes regular research studies involving specific conditions. Those who qualify for a study receive free or low-cost dental care.
The Health Resources and Services Administration provide federally-funded clinics that allow you to pay what you can afford based on your income. These services include dental care along with other preventive care, and centers are located across the country.
Associated with the American Dental Association, the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped provides dental treatment and preventive services to disabled and elderly people in need. All of the dental work and services are voluntarily provided by professionals in the industry.
State Programs
State programs might be easier to identify and access, especially if you call your state’s health department. Before calling, do some online research if possible in order to identify a contact person to talk with regarding your specific situation. Your contact person may be able to direct you to free or low-cost dental services in your local area, as well as how you can get them.
State services like Medicaid and State Aid, also known as Children’s Health Insurance Program, provide dental care for those under 21 who are considered low-income. Most states provide emergency dental care for those over 21 years of age through these programs.
Non-Profit Organizations
Preventive dental care is generously provided by dentists on a volunteer basis through non-profit and charitable organizations. The following list highlights a few of these organizations:
· The United Way
· Catholic Charities
· Mission of Mercy
· The Children’s Dental Center
· Project: Dentists Care
· Give Kids a Smile
Many of these organizations operate around the country and possibly in your local community!
Local Schools
Dental schools offer free or reduced-cost services through related clinics. Future dentists and oral hygienists work under the careful observation of licensed dentists and provide a wide variety of services. Basic care, like teeth cleanings, are often provided at no cost.
Arrange to Pay
Preventive dental care is extremely important for your overall health and well-being. If your financial circumstances have changed since you last visited your regular dentist, talk honestly with him or her about your options. Your dental professional may have connections for free or reduced-cost care, or may work with your situation using a payment plan that’s best for you both. There are also third-party payment plans that don’t incur fees, which also may be a possibility.
A change in your financial circumstances or a lack of dental insurance doesn’t mean you can’t receive good basic dental care. Your health is worth it!

“Phantom—The Las Vegas Spectacular” ( Sponsor: BASE Entertainment)
It's going to be so exciting to see one of Vegas' top shows: “Phantom—The Las Vegas Spectacular”
courtesy of our sponser BASE Entertainment. We know if you want to see class act entertainment, that Vegas has it.
Read the fun facts about the production- and stay tuned as we tell you about our experience.
Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition ( Sponsor: Premier Exhibitions)
Four years ago, Gerry and I were in Las Vegas with Erika, and had our photo taken on this very staircase from the Titanic Artifact Exhibit.
Thanks to the great folks at Premier Exhibitions, we will be returning again. They have added another artifact to the collection, and it will be nice to see, as well as bring back memories.I loved the movie and have a copy of it here at home.
I remember what stood out in my memory the most about the exhibit was the piece of ice they had that you could touch to see how cold it really was that ill fated evening for those poor people.
At Luxor Hotel and Casino
Re-designed for Luxor, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition brings to life the story of the ill-fated Ship through authentic artifacts, dramatic room recreations and hand-on interactive experiences. See the artifacts, hear the stories, walk the deck and feel the iceberg at Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition.
Beginning its 10-year residency at Luxor December 20, 2008, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition has since provided visitors the opportunity to become a passenger and experience the tragic events of April 15, 1912. The Ship’s historical journey is laid out in chronological order: from the construction yards, to her maiden voyage, first and third class room re-creations, the Promenade Deck, the Grand Staircase, the fated sinking to modern day recovery efforts.
Unique to the Exhibition at Luxor are more than 20 never before seen artifacts including gaming chips, passenger personal papers and decorative sections from Titanic’s famed Grand Staircase. The Exhibition also showcases the largest piece of the Titanic ever recovered – the ‘Big Piece.’ This 15-ton piece of the Titanic’s starboard hull was raised 12,500 feet from the ocean floor and took more than 80 years, and two attempts, to surface.
I look forward to telling you all about it!

How To Make Extra Money For The Holidays
The holidays are a time of great fun for all. Many families take the opportunity to travel during the Christmas season, while others gather in their homes and open endless piles of gifts from one another. Partaking in the fun of the holiday is something everybody wants to do, but unfortunately the holiday season can place a painful strain on your personal finances. Thankfully, whether you're looking to finance your trip to the sunny beach this Christmas, or simply hoping to earn some quick cash for gifts, many options are available for those looking for some extended spending power.
Traditionally, the holiday season is the busiest time of the year for retailers. Stores are stocked with more merchandise during the weeks leading up to Christmas, and the traffic in shopping centers rises exponentially. In order to prepare for this shopping rush, many companies hire seasonal workers. Working as a seasonal worker generally means you'll have limited hours and your job will disappear after the holiday season, making this a perfect job for busy moms. Most stores will advertise for seasonal workers well in advance, so consider dropping off your resume before the season officially arrives.
If the thought of working in a busy store sounds unappealing to you, consider whether you have any marketable skills. Many shoppers look for unique, personable gifts during the Christmas season, meaning handmade goods experience a boom in popularity during the holidays. Whether you are a skilled baker or an expert knitter, consider selling your goods and products to the glut of spenders looking for the perfect present. If you find it difficult to sell your items in the “real-world,” you may want to consider placing such gifts on online classified sites, such as eBay or Craigslist. Other solutions include websites that feature handmade gifts, such as Etsy.com.
If arts and crafts aren't your thing, you may want to consider offering personal services during the holiday season. From babysitting to housekeeping, many busy families need additional at Christmas time. To advertise your services, you'll likely want to use a classified ad in a local publication, such as the newspaper.
Freelancing can also be a source of cash during the Christmas season. Whether you're got great writing skills, really know your way around Photoshop, or are great at editing and proofreading, freelancing jobs are rather easy to procure online. Nevertheless, if you've never spent time freelancing before, it can be difficult to find work on freelancing websites teeming with qualified workers. Consider using a site such as Fiverr or Gigswood, which allow you to offer small services and get paid immediately after completion.
Regardless of how you choose to earn your pennies, you'll likely find that a plethora of options exist if you're willing to search for them. While working during the holidays can be a pain, remind yourself why you're working hard. When you're frolicking on the beach with your family, the stress of all of your work will feel one million miles away.

Carmelite Monks, are with a Roman Catholic monastery in the silence and solitude of the Rocky Mountains of northern Wyoming.

The Carmelite monks have mastered the ancient art of coffee roasting, laboring with steadfast determination to make each cup of coffee simply superb. Taste the monastic perfection in each brew, which makes all the difference.
Gerry loves his coffee. I personally don't drink coffee but love the smell of it!
We recieved a sampler set of coffee from the monks that included great flavours like royal rum pecan, cowboy blend, french vanilla and a few more great tastes! Gerry tried a few and loves the coffee. He said it was very smooth, aromatic and no bitter after tastes like some coffees have.

California Poison Control Observes National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week
Monday, October 25, 2010
California Poison Control System (http://www.calpoison.org) is observing National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week and warns consumers that lead can be found in a variety of products available to children.
“Lead poisoning is an important cause of learning disabilities, anemia, as well as growth problems, and children exposed to lead may have attention and aggression problems,” said Dr. Richard Geller, Executive Medical Director for the CPCS. He added that children are most commonly exposed to lead by ingesting paint chips or dirt that is contaminated with lead, especially if one or both parents have occupational exposure to lead.
Dr. Geller said ways to prevent lead poisoning in children include having them wash their hands frequently, washing their toys often and providing a diet high in iron and calcium. Children who are undernourished can absorb more lead into their bodies than children with well balanced diets. Consumer lead testing kits can be found at most hardware stores and may be of use in detecting lead in the home. For more free poison and safety tips, text the word TIPS or PUNTOS for Spanish to 69866.
Dr. Geller offered the following 10 lead poisoning prevention:
1. Make sure your children do not chew on painted surfaces, such as toys or window sills.
2. Report chipped or cracked paint to your landlord if you live in an older home built before 1978.
3. Cover paint that is peeling or chipping with duct tape until it can be removed.
4. Ask your doctor to test your young children for lead even if they seem healthy.
5. Children's necklaces and bracelets, adult watches, as well as religious jewelry from Mexico, have been found to contain lead.
6. Keys frequently have small amounts of lead in them – do not let babies play with or teethe on your keychain.
7. Run the faucet for a few minutes before using cold water for cooking, drinking or preparing infant formula (this can help flush out the lead which can build up in sitting water), especially if the cold water hasn't been used in the past two hours.
8. Avoid eating foods that are canned outside the United States.
9. Traces of lead have been found in some candy and its packaging imported from Mexico containing chili or tamarind.
10. Folk medicines (especially home remedies) imported from another country also contain lead. These include: pay-loo-ah (fever and rash treatment); azarcon (also called Maria Luisa, Liga, Alarzon, Greta, Coral and Rueda); Asian folk remedies, including Ghasard, Bali Goli and Kandu; and Middle Eastern folk remedies, including farouk and bint al zahab.
Call California Poison Control System at 1-800-222-1222 for more information on lead poisoning. Trained certified pharmacists, nurses and poison information providers to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The service is free, confidential and interpreters are always available. Using Up Your Boxed Cake Mixes
My mom had bought me a Taste of Home mini cookbook, which had a recipe in it for Devil's Food Cookies.
I love baking, even with only the 2 of us here, it's good to freeze it for times when one doesn't have the time to bake.
What I liked about this recipe is that it was quick, had minimal ingrediants, plus I realized that you could probably substitute any cake mix you had and change around the flavour of the cookies.
This one called for devil's food cake mix and chocolate chips, but one could use a another flavour and mix in nuts or coconut or raisins, in place of chocolate chips.
The cookies were light and fluffy and almost reminded me of eating muffin tops.
Very good recipe to try.
Review and Giveaway:( Canada Only) : Royal Canin
Feeding 6 cats for my mom is a big expense- so it's nice to have the opportunity to review some cat food!
My mom's cat Scratch was "asked" to be the taste tester for this review.( Scratch is a big cat- tipping the scales at almost 30lbs.)
Scratch's favorite was the protein food.
Royal Canin has developed three exclusive profiles to meet each and every cats natural preference. These profiles are based on palatability smell, mouth feel (texture, shape and size of kibble), and post-digestion sensation (the way the food makes them feel after eating).
Royal Canins SelectiveTM line for cats is made especially for the fussy feline and targets your cats natural preferences.
- 85%* of cats will find their preferred food among the SelectiveTM formulas, versus competing products that rely on a variety of flavours.
- The SelectiveTM line addresses the existing frustations of fussy cat owners with three varities to satisfy your cats natural preferences: Aromatic Attraction, Savour Sensation and Protein Preference.
The SelectiveTM line is available in three distinct formulas, each offering a complete nutritional solution for fussy cats:
o SelectiveTM 31 Aromatic Attraction, with its specific aromatic profile- mom said Scratch was most drawn to this one first.
o SelectiveTM 34/29 Savor Sensation, with two kibbles of different shapes, compositions and textures that act together in the mouth- this one was a second favorite
o SelectiveTM 40 Protein Preference, with its precise protein, carbohydrate and fat ratio- this was the one that was the biggest hit.
The SelectiveTM line for cats wil be available in stores across Canada starting mid-October 2010, including Pet Valu, Global Pet Foods, Petcetera, Mondou, and several other independent pet stores. The Discovery Pack (which offers samples of each SelectiveTM variety) is available for an MSRP of $5.99, while bags of Aromatic Attraction, Savor Sensation, and Protein Preference range from $18.99 to $35.99.
Royal Canin would like to giveaway away 1 of 2 Discovery Packs with a free coupon for a large bag of the cat's favorite food- Canadian residents only please.

It Paid To Complain
Sunday, October 24, 2010
I believe it was last week we had gone out an early birthday supper for Gerry's 50th,( as we had a restaurant free supper meal voucher for $20).One local hotel chain sends these out on your birthday month every year.
We had gone there and waited over 65 minutes for our meal,( and still hadn't gotten it). The restaurant was a bit full but we noticed the people behind our table got up and left and complained and another table did in the corner as well.
We were able to stop our waitress finally and ask her what was taking so long for our meal? Well, she went to the kitchen and never returned. We got up, and told the hostess at the front that we waited over an hour and were leaving. We ended up going to Subway for a quick sub as we were starving by this point, and once home, I sent an email off to the hotel's manager.
We did go back the next day and had our meal, learning that for some reason, the waitress had not keyed in the order to the kitchen for a few of us, and they were most sorry.
A few days later I recieved a call from the manger , who apologized and offered us a compensation for what happened.
We were told we could pick up an envelope at the front desk yesterday.
To our surprise, we recieved a $50 gift certificate, ( which we are using tonight), and a free hotel stay,( which we are giving to my daughter to use for her and her girlfriends for a night out, when she comes up here for Christmas from college).
All in all, it did have a happy ending.
