I must say, as we enter into September, I am wondering what  is going to happen with letting the snowbirds pass into the USA this Fall. We are double vaxxed and are self contained. We had been traveling to the USA for the winters up until Covid started, every winter. We stick to ourselves all the time, and practice all the safety measures. Really do not want to be here another Winter. Winter sucks- and as of today, the border remains closed till September 21.

Recently had another contest win... won 2 free store pizzas and a PS5 from a Dr Oetker sweepstakes! Apparently the PS5 is so popular that they still haven't sourced one yet! So am waiting or at to see if they will be giving a cash prize instead.

Bought my niece's car.. smaller than the one I have now, but we needed one that we could flat tow with the RV. Now we just have to sell my other car. Since niece's car was cheaper than mine, as soon as I get it sold we'll be ahead of the game!

Gerry did his own DIY truck fix recently.  He had his emergency brake lock on him and was having truck problems. By watching a Utube video, he was able to fix his problem without spending money to have someone else look at it!

Keep hearing on the news how the prices of groceries are suppose to be going up- mostly due to a lack of crops producing. How can the prices get any higher- oh wow! Not good .

I always try to stop the colds I get in their tracks before I get them, although there have been times when Erika has gotten a bad cold and a vaporizer has helped un-stuff her. Today's Random Thoughts

We got a surprise at the beginning of last week, when a town truck pulled up and unloaded a Yard of the Week sign for our yard. Gerry keeps the front and back yard looking nice, plus does yard work for a few other people around the town.. so was nice. Unfortunately though, like the non- existent  blueberries in the bush this year, the raspberries in the yard aren't looking too great.. but still time for them to turn around. 

Was my 55th birthday yesterday- flowers, supper and cake from Gerry- can't beat that!

Won another contest too! A Corona paddle board with a $400 value! Just waiting for it to arrive.. but will be selling. Saving money towards a screened in porch for deck.

Ordered ourselves a reclining sofa and chair- but we are so remote that Gerry will have to drive 4 hours to go pick it up when it arrives.

Still looking for another car as well to tow behind our RV for this Fall. The newer one I had got we found out wasn't tow-able, so just searching now and waiting for one to come available. And.. hoping Biden opens the border for the snowbirds this Fall.

Gerry picked up some older pieces of furniture that needed some TLC, for cheap, at a Re-Use it store. The brown one was $20 and the other two were $10 each. Will be sure to share the After pictures when he is done and we put for sale. The brown one he has started on and is old- had about 4 layers of paint on it as well! 

Got us a new shelf too for our photo albums. We had got a new tv stand last month and it was smaller than the older one, so it didn't hold all the albums. I didn't just want to stick them away in a closet, so ordered this shelf from Walmart online. We really like it!

And with that.. another week starts tomorrow, so do enjoy yours!

Today's Random Thoughts

Took Jake out for a walk today to go see the blueberries..and it's no wonder we have bears wandering - looking for food and trying to keep away from the burning fires everywhere. 

We were lucky enough that the road opened to the city- because fires had it closed for a while... Jake had had a vet visit earlier this week. He ended up having 2 warts removed, a teeth cleaning ( none needed to be pulled) and an xray on his leg which showed he had fractured his leg sometime within the last 2 weeks, but it was already starting to heal. Those things, coupled with medications and $80 for tax alone, was a bill for close to $800. We're grateful we had money saved for emergencies and that we were able to get him the care he needed.

And part of my prize pack arrived for my contest win of a $1600 valued bbq, and swag pack. My daughter Erika had tagged me in an Instagram contest and both of us won the same prize pack! I am having to sell the bbq though as it's too big for us- but we will still buy another smaller one, and use the rest of the money towards something we can also use. Winning sure is fun! Do you enter contests as well? It's easy to get discouraged but just keep going- your turn will come!

I have been reading a few other blogs lately and will say I feel blessed that we don't have our water metered. We play a flat rate monthly of $70 which includes our unlimited water consumption AND our weekly garbage pick up. Is your water consumption metered? What do you pay for your garbage to be picked up?

Today's Random Thoughts

Our bathroom vanity is finished and the medicine cabinet- but Gerry got started on the project before I had a chance to snap the BEFORE picture.. But what we had was a dark brown vanity and medicine cabinet and he sanded down all of it, primed and painted. We did order a new vanity top. Sold the old one for $80 and this one was $300 - that included the sink and taxes/ free shipping.

Gerry keeping busy this summer too with grass cutting jobs and helping seniors!

Had to take Jake to the vet once again. This time he either got a bug sting OR he got a sprain. Vet saw swelling but wasn't sure from what. He could not stand on his foot though for a good day + ...we had to carry him, and vet is only in town once a week. We got lucky, they had a cancellation, and we got him in for a check up. Vet gave him a shot, plus a few pills for arthritis swelling, and within 24 hours or less he was a new dog! Costed $143 but worth it for us !
