Review: Ethical Bean Coffee

Review by: Jon

With eight distinct roasts to choose from Ethical Bean Coffee Located in Vancouver BC,roasts only the best Fairtrade Certified, Organic Coffee.) They lovingly roast them in them in their carbon-neutral roastery powered by green-energy, and then deliver them to you brimming with possibility.
Their roasts include: Mellow,Lush, Decaf,Rocket Fuel, Classic, Sweet,Bold and Exotic.

Our staff reviewer, Jon, loves his teas and coffees and was quite happy to try two of the  Ethical Bean Coffee they sell.

Just like the name, "Mellow" is light and mellow. It's the perfect flavor if you're craving a cup of coffee on a relaxing afternoon. The aroma and taste are equally nice.

On the other hand, "Lush" is a stronger coffee but just the right amount of strong. Again, the aroma and taste were great! Not to mention it's the perfect flavor to get you up and going on work days!

In comparing the two, Jon liked the "Lush" coffee better as he prefers a stronger taste.

Phoenix's Hard Rock Cafe

While in Phoenix,( and in only about a week before we leave), we will be stopping by the **Hard Rock Café. These are always a lot of fun as you know a little what to expect from the franchise yet, each location throws in some unexpected regional flair. You will see some great Phoenix oriented Rock memorabilia in the restaurant and gift shop so it will be a great cultural experience as well. What makes things even more exciting is that they are introducing a new menu, featuring over 30 new offering including, desserts, salads, entrees and drinks! What WILL we try??
This menu was under over 14 months of strict culinary development and was extensively tested so it is sure to please the clientele. To see how extensive the development process was, you should know that over 27 different types of buns were sampled before brioche bun was selected. Research has also shown that many of the menu items were huge crowd pleasers and these stayed on the menu with maybe a little modification or two to better the dining experience.
We are very much looking forward to going to the Phoenix Hard Rock Café, and checking out the new menu and the local culture scene, with drinks on the patio, we can finally welcome spring.

Review: Hanger Jack

They say that necessity is the mother of invention.

Gerry recently got Hanger Jack to clean up all his cords in the garage. He likes getting them off the floor, and not worrying about tripping on them.

Such a simple invention and yet so smart. Easy to install, the Hanger Jack can be used as a hanging space when you need it, but it also folds away when you don't. It is great for those of us that are constantly using door knobs, doors and any crook and crannies they can as a hanging surface.

Some great spaces for it are closets, laundry rooms and garages, or really any space that you need it in.

It  really is easy to install and a easy way to get things off the floor and surfaces and save some valuable space. Such an ingenious idea, that you wish that you thought of it!

Review: Eagle Creek Luggage

We are off to Arizona so very soon, and with all the excitement comes the dreaded packing. Since our secondary piece was destroyed by the airlines last trip out, we were in need of a new secondary piece and thus came the perfect opportunity to review.

Eagle Creek Adventure 4 wheeled Upright 28 is built tough and great for a traveler. It is very light weight which is a must since airlines make you pay dearly for any extra pounds. And lighter luggage means you can put more things in it, and this bag is so deep and roomy!

I always tell Gerry he packs more than I do!

The zippers on this luggage are two way and lockable which is a huge convenience. It has multiple pockets for storage and organization which is truly wonderful as well as interior compression wings. Anyone who is used to the old school bags that you have to drag around, or even luggage with two wheels, will most definitely appreciate the four wheel system. You can go back and forth, side to side with no effort at all. Definitely a life saver when you are trying to navigate the challenging hallways of airports or any public transportation terminals.

The company offers a full range of travel accessories and bags which can stand the test of travel, wherever your journeys may take you. We can't wait to use our Eagle Creek luggage! And remember when YOU shop with Eagle Creek, They Donate. 5% of Purchases $150+ Will Help Preserve Alaska

While your also looking at the bags on their site, be sure to check out the packing check lists. These come in handy for all kinds of trips and destinations.

March is National Peanut Month

What would the world be without peanuts? There would be no peanut butter and jam sandwiches, and no crunchy additions to chocolate bars.
Peanuts are also a great and healthy snack all on their own, so since March is National Peanut Month, try to sneak a few extras into your diet.

Please visit our friends as well during National Peanut Month:

·       Organic Dark Chocolate Peanuts – Just in time for Peanut Month, dark chocolate has become all the rage in the health industry. Noted for increasing blood flow to the brain and helping to control blood sugar, dark chocolate has been recommended by the The Journal of the American Medical Association to protect against iron deficiency and help prevent heart disease. Decadent and satisfying, SunRidge Farms' peanut clusters are made with dark cacao grown and harvested only on sustainable organic farms. Enjoying Organic Dark Chocolate Peanuts this March is a great way to celebrate both Peanut Month and your health with guilt free snacking.

·       All Natural Milk Chocolate Peanuts – If you're one of the many people who enjoys milk chocolate then this crunchy and satisfying snack is right up your alley. These non-GMO, preservative-free treats bring you the beloved combination of crunchy peanuts and succulent chocolate, perfect for lunches, parties, and anytime in-between. Plus, peanuts feature an array of health benefits and are full of the healthy monounsaturated fats. They are the perfect companion for Peanut Month.

·       All Natural Yogurt Peanut Clusters – Rich and sweet, these all natural peanuts are covered in luscious yogurt, which contains no artificial colors or flavors. If you need an energy boost this March, then this is a great snack for you. Peanuts are packed with protein, containing 38 grams per cup, making them the perfect pick-me-up for any afternoon lull. Yogurt is loaded with vitamins, including calcium and B12. Combining these two power foods can help motivate you to finish your day strong.

The best way to enjoy National Peanut Month is to celebrate all the healthy benefits that peanuts offer! A new study by the Peanut Institute reports that eating peanuts daily can decrease both blood pressure and cholesterol.

And Kind's dark chocolate peanut butter +protein bar is  so delicious, people mistake it for a candy bar.  Best part is that unlike candy bars, all of the ingredients in this guy are all natural and to boost, each bar has 7g of protein!

Everybody does food drives.  Although impactful, they can become monotonous. DoSomething.org has the Peanut Butter and Jam Slam that's just as impactful, but shakes things up a bit. Enter the country’s largest peanut butter drive. Peanut butter has a long shelf life, is high in protein, and is often requested at food banks. Beginning March 11, young people ages 13-25 can sign up to run a peanut butter drive in their community. To sign up, visit DoSomething.org/pbj

Peanut Butter Pit Bull from Rescue Chocolate-

These bars put together one of humankind's most popular flavor combinations: crispy peanut butter with dark chocolate. The bar is vegan, kosher, handcrafted, organic, and fairly traded. But if all that were not enough, the profits from all Rescue Chocolate products are donated to animal rescue organizations. A rescued pit bull, named Mocha, is the cover girl and inspiration for the company. The blurb on the chocolate bar urges consumers to look beyond negative breed stereotypes and to judge all dogs as individuals. With their tenacious work drive and high intelligence, most pit bulls are only interested in pleasing their owners and giving lots of love.

Guest Room-Floor Done!

Gerry spent most of the day, (except when I dragged him out to get groceries), putting down the new floor in the guest room. ( He just went over top of the lino we had in there).

We liked the flooring we got so much from Home Depot a few months back, when we did most of the trailer that we decided to pick up more flooring this last visit to the city, and do the guest room as well, (which shares the addition with our porch). A job well done!

Update on the Bathroom

Gerry spent a better part of yesterday afternoon fixing up the washroom off our bedroom.

You may remember me telling you not long ago, about our frozen line. Which cause an over flow a few times with the duel flush toilet and wrecked our washroom floor.

Gerry replaced that flooring yesterday, and also the toilet, with a regular flush. Sold the old toilet for $30.

My mouth is getting better after going to the dentist last week- am on penicillin and ibuprofen for infection. have an appt. this week to have it re-looked at to see what things better.

Found out last week if I do win my case on my portion of pension from ex husband, I won't be able to claim any of it till I'm at least 55, and only then a percentage. In the meantime, still going through a long process.

Gerry and I have been talking more of motor homes. May look at some closer to home next time we are looking. We looked last time while in Calgary. Gerry seems to think it would be better to get something that is newer and buy now while he is still working, to make payments on it. I agree it would be nice to have now as well, but wanted to get out of debt with our mortgage and truck payment first, ( which have about another 4 years left). I also would like to spend less, to see if it's something we really want. It would be easier to sell then afterwards if it isn't something that costs too much for something else to buy. Renting them is very expensive.

Gerry was talking of selling his snowmobile the other day- says he doesn't use it much. I only go out with him when it's warmer, and not much really. Even he doesn't make alot of trips out during the winter. So there are a few things to think on right now.

Have a good day everyone....

If You Gamble, Do It Responsibly

While some people have a fairly negative attitude to gambling, nowadays the majority of people consider it to be mainly harmless fun. The vast majority of people are able to enjoy gambling at a casino online for what it is, and although a few people might go a little astray that is no reason to restrict it from people who are able to gambling in their stride. There are interesting parallels between responsible gambling and responsible drinking. Most people are able to enjoy drinking alcohol without being silly about it and drinking to excess and most people don’t spend any more money on it that they can afford or that they wish to.

Gambling sensibly is really all about using your common sense. It is obvious that you shouldn’t spend any more money on gambling than you can afford to lose, but an alternative way of viewing this is that the money you spend on gambling isn’t money that you have actually lost, it is money that you have spent having fun and entertainment. For instance, when you go to a gig you don’t consider the amount of money that you have spent on your tickets is lost money, you think of it as the money you paid in order to go to the concert. You might subsequently wonder if it was worth the money if the concert wasn’t a good one, but if it was really good then you are going to be pleased that you paid only what you did.

Gambling is the same; the money that you have spent on it is simply the amount that you spend for enjoying the process and thrill of gambling. Effectively we are saying that you don’t gamble to lose and you don’t gamble to win. You gamble to have fun. When you win, then that is a bonus and when you lose you haven’t lost at all. The same applies to live gambling or gambling at an online casino; gambling responsibly is easy.
