Looking To Make A Difference To Others? Perhaps One Of These Benevolent Jobs Are For You

Friday, June 28, 2019

Working is something that we all need to do. A lot of the time we moan about having to get up and put in the graft, but if we didn’t have that stuff to do throughout the day, we’d probably struggle to find a purpose. Often when we have days off, we become bored and then eager to hop back into the grind. We’re at our happiest and more content with ourselves after feeling the accomplishment of completing a hard day’s/week’s work.

That said, some ways can amplify the satisfaction and feeling of reward with regards to our professional lives. Yes, making a ton of money and not worrying about making ends meet is a goal for many, but there’s more to life than the numbers in our bank accounts. If you’re more of a selfless and benevolent person, then you’ll know that making others smile, laugh or simply improving their day is a wonderful feeling. Well, how about working in a field that means you can do just that? If you’ve always wanted to spend your day - or even a few hours - helping others, then let’s have a little look through some jobs that could suit you down to the ground.

Online Advice

A lot of people struggle with life – they struggle a lot. Sometimes it gets to the point whereby they have no idea where to turn. They’ve exhausted all of their own ideas and need someone else’s input. That’s where you can come in. There are lots of charitable organizations that need people to come in and listen to issues about anything from money troubles to addiction. You’ll be trained a little about certain topics, but in a lot of cases, just being there for others when they seemingly have nobody is a priceless thing.

Teaching Assistant

Kids need to learn. Teachers need to be able to teach them. Sometimes a sole individual isn’t enough to get the job done. A teaching assistant job is super rewarding as you get to see young ones flourish and become more knowledgeable by the day thanks to your efforts. As the population grows and grows, the demand for more people to come in and guide kids won’t be dropping anytime soon.

Care Worker

Older people and disabled people need to have a lot of assistance with day-to-day tasks. The disabled live such a handicapped life compared to those that are of able body and mind that it really makes you stop and think about just how lucky you are if you’re in a more fortunate position. Elders deserve a life of peace and happiness as they live through their final years, too. There are also heaps of Caregivers jobs available as it’s something that will always be necessary. You can work for a private company or with public service.

Work At Food Banks

People need to eat and, unfortunately, not everyone is in a position to feed themselves and their families. Thanks to some wonderful people with big hearts, food banks have been set up for those in a terrible situation. They are offered some meals and snacks to help them get through the day thanks to generous donations from those in better positions. Making sure you’re apart of something like this will not only benefit society as a whole but also will reward you personally.

The Essential Guide To Your Twilight Years

Wednesday, June 26, 2019

While you might be decades away from retiring just yet, it’s never too easy to start thinking about your twilight years. When you retire, you will no longer be working for your living, and not knowing where your next bit of money is coming in from is terrifying. While you are still young, whether you are in your thirties, forties or fifties, you need to work out a plan to help maintain your levels of comfort in your retirement. While you might not be whisking yourself away on around the world trips when you hit your twilight years, you’ll still need the cash to maintain a lifestyle that you are used to.

Your twilight years are not solely about your finances although they do take up a major part of your planning prior to your retirement. You need to consider your health, your mental well being and your social life. Take a look at this essential guide to help your twilight years be the most prosperous chapter of your life.

Money

Before you start thinking about that wanderlust itch you’d like to scratch the moment that you wave goodbye to your full time job, it’s time to get your financial planning head screwed on. While you might like to think of yourself as a whizz with numbers, the world of pensions and investments is a whole different ball game. Consider securing the services of a financial advisor to help you commute your pensions from your previous roles. If you’ve had four or five different jobs throughout your career, then the chances are that you have four or five separate pensions due to mature at the same time. Instead, you can commute these into your current scheme, making the retirement process and payment of your pension much easier.

You will probably get the option of taking a yearly amount from the pension pot that you’ll get paid monthly, or you can choose a decrease on this monthly amount if you’d rather take some of your money as a lump sum come retirement day. Most people choose to take this lump sum, and why not? You’ve been working for thirty five years, so it makes sense that you should want a little reward. When you take this lump sum, put away a fifth of it. Don’t be tempted to spend it and don’t even look at it. Squirrel it away in your savings account, safe in the knowledge that it is there for a rainy day. The remaining four fifths are to do with as you please. Fancy a cruise? Go for it. Want to experience some fancy restaurants? Get booking. Considering a new sporty car? Test drive it.

If you haven’t begun to look at your finances for your future, it’s vital that you start. If you have money wallowing in your savings account, you might want to look into more lucrative investments that, while riskier, could see you with a stronger return on your money. You might fancy investing in wine, the stock market, Forex or property to help boost your savings pot for your twilight years. Only ever spend what you can afford to lose and ensure that any investments you make are spread across low, middle and high risk investments.

Social Life

When you retire, it can come as a shock. You might have the date penciled in for years, but the moment you switch your laptop off for the final time, you take the leaving gift from your colleague home and you enjoy some leaving drinks, the emptiness of the next day can be daunting. Gone are your work colleagues, as is the office camaraderie and the challenge of having something to do every day. Not having the structure that work gives you can be hard to get used to. Some retirees begin to feel depressed and isolated as the days of enjoying your own free time that sounded idyllic turns into something rather more boring and monotonous.

As you grow older, you may find yourself struggling to make the social calendar dates that you once had penciled in. Perhaps you’re feeling the niggles and aches of old age. Maybe you are struggling with feelings of isolation. And maybe you feel like you are too old to go out. Nothing could be further from the truth. Your twilight years should be one of the most exhilarating parts of your life. This is your time to do whatever you want now that you have given your bit to society and the world of work. Consider heading out to social events and joining clubs to meet new people. If your hearing is a little worse for wear, feel safe in the knowledge that participating in social gatherings is easier with Miracle-Ear. These tiny and innovative hearing aids can help boost your confidence and help you feel younger again.

Just because you haven’t got the same contact with your work colleagues any more doesn’t mean that you can’t meet up outside of work; it just might require a little more effort to make work. If you find yourself at a loose end for too many days in the week, consider what you want to get out of your retirement. If you want to have a go at a new hobby, go for it. If you want to learn Japanese, book yourself on a beginners course. If you want to learn the piano, get yourself down to a free taster session. And if you want to partake in a skydive, get sponsored and raise some money for charity. Age is nothing but a number, so don’t let it put you off from trying new experiences. As a retiree, you should feel empowered to try new things, see new vistas, and immerse yourself in new cultures.

Health

As we grow older, we inevitably have to endure more health niggles. Perhaps your hip has a spot of arthritis in it. Maybe your back is aching a little more than it used to. Or perhaps your eyesight is failing. This is part of ageing, but you can also prevent your faculties from failing you completely! Keep your mind active by talking to friends, visiting family and staying active. Eat well and partake in a spot of exercise. Just because you might not be training for a marathon anymore, you might fancy heading for a walk every day, going to older people’s gym sessions or having a go at pensioners soccer.

Your twilight years should be the most amazing chapter of your life. Follow this guide to ensure that you are ready to tackle the challenges of retirement head on.

Extra Money Lying Around? The Tops Ways To Save It!

Tuesday, June 25, 2019

One of the most difficult things to do is save money.  When that carrot is dangling in front of your face, you just can’t resist grabbing it.  You work hard all week and feel like you deserve to spend what you made. Of course, you deserve to pamper yourself, but we must learn to be frugal with our money.

With the easiness of swiping a credit or debit card, shopping online, or having instant access to an ATM at almost every corner, it is no wonder so many people are in debt.  The temptation is always there! But, you can muster up some willpower and take advantage of some easy ways to save money.

High Yield Savings Account

How great would it feel to know you have money sitting in a savings account that is continuously growing the more you leave it alone?  Sure, it can be tempting to grab a few bucks out of it when needed, but if you just let that account sit there, you’ll reap the benefits of interest growth.  Many of the best high yield savings programs are available for you to browse and see the pros and cons.  Set aside some money every week from your paycheck and have it deposited right into this account.  It will be money that you don’t expect to see every week but have the peace of mind in knowing that it’s getting bigger and bigger each week.

When you finally retire to that paradise you’ve always dreamed of, you’ll be able to pat yourself on the back for letting money accumulate in your high yield savings program!

Cut Back at Home

Think of the many luxuries that you may have at your house that you just are not utilizing but spending a lot of money for.  If you have cable, do you really need all the channels that are being offered? What specifically do you watch and can certainly do without?  There are so many channels that you are paying money for that you don’t even know exist.

The same can be said for your cell phone.  How many added features are you paying for each month that you don’t use?  Go through your bill and see where all your cash is going and give them a call to change your rates.  If you have a landline at home, it is also time to rid yourself of that payment. If you have a cell phone, there is no need for another device at home.

Go Green

Did you know that most states offer energy efficient savings programs for your home?  And, they perform these services for free? Many of these companies will change your lightbulbs to energy efficient ones.  You should also set your thermostat up on a device that you can control the temperature. It is unnecessary to be paying for heat or keeping the house freezing cold when no one is there.

And, of course, taking public transportation can save you money on gas each month.  Not only will you be saving money, but you will be helping the environment as well.

Stay Home More Often

No, I am not saying that you can use this reason as a sick day from work.  People don’t realize how much money they spend during the weekend on going out to eat or participating in other fun activities.  You spend a lot of money each week on groceries, so be sure that you are not letting all that food to go to waste. Plan a game night each week at someone’s else and everyone can bring something.  This way you won’t be overpaying for alcoholic beverages and you can use up some of your groceries. And, while you’re at it, see what you can do to save money shopping.

Credit Card Craziness

Credit cards are so wonderful, but so dangerous at the same time.  If you find that you are always in debt and struggling for cash, you need to ditch the credit cards.  The interest rate that you pay each month for your purchases is out of this world. It becomes near impossible to get out of debt if you are constantly chasing your credit card payments.  And paying the minimum may look like a quick fix to keep the creditors away from you, but, you are extending the length of your credit card payoff by years.

If you can’t pay off your purchase when you receive the bill, don’t make the purchase.  This can be a difficult skill to master, but if you know money is an issue for you, this is a sacrifice that you will need to make.

Exercise Outside

Many people love the luxury of going to the gym and getting their daily workout in.  While other people, pay lots of money for the gym each month but never attend. The outdoors offer many choices for ways to stay in shape that costs you nothing.  Whether you want to go for a run, bike, kayak, hike, or even head out camping, there are plenty of activities that you can participate in with your family for very little money.  And, believe it or not, it’s actually fun, too!

You Can Do This!

None of the suggestions mentioned above are going to require major life changes.  There are hundreds of way to save money.  Save up now and reap the benefits later on in life!

It's Okay To Admit You're Vulnerable

Sunday, June 23, 2019

It’s okay to admit you’re vulnerable. We can often forget this when we start to take steps to live our healthiest life. We think we need to kick butt and achieve everything, one perfected task after another, until we come to the goal we most wanted. We might expect to lose all of that weight by the end of summer. We might finally wish to move to a new pad before the year is out.

Of course, these are goals with actionable steps. But sometimes it can be harder to see what really needs to be worked on. Sometimes, a little mental tuning and care is what we need most, but because it’s hard to actually see that in front of us, it’s hard to be aware of it.

This is especially true if you’ve recently experienced something very trying. Our brains can often want to compartmentalize and try to recover from the issues we are experiencing. It’s not always easy to do that. But with that first act of admitting you are vulnerable, the following steps can come:

You Might Need Closure

It can be hard to imagine that we are still holding onto the issues of our past, but sometimes, they won’t let go of us. You might need closure to avoid the damage they have been doing to you. It could be that using law firms, such as those headed by Jason Hadley, could help you seek a final end to a toxic workplace exit or another form of personal protection. Closing the chapter on one part of your life can be so much more rewarding, and can help you divide that time from now. Avoiding closure might leave you to continually ruminate on those issues. That is often not a good policy. If you can focus on this, we’d recommend doing so.

Tailoring Your Social Needs

It can be that despite needing to admit you’re vulnerable, you realize you can’t say that to any of your friends. It’s okay to admit this to your closest family, and also to use this as a means to realize that your friends aren’t as close as they might have seemed. Tailoring your social needs can help you get away from the issues that might have plagued you so far, or to start to find your worth and understand just how your social scene could be bettered from here on.

Strength vs. Weakness

Pulling away from something that is hurting you is not weakness, it is strength. Admitting that which you’re worried about is not weakness, it’s strength. Sometimes, you need to focus on that which is important to you. Remember, just because others try to dismiss it, your lived experience is not something you should just discount. It could be that finally putting yourself as number one is the essential component you have been missing after all this time.

With these tips, we hope you are better able to come back to the health you need.

HOW I INCREASED MY WEB TRAFFIC BY 200% IN 24 HOURS.

GOOGLE RANKING CHANGES AND UPDATES IN 2019: HOW I USED THE GP STRATEGY TO SEE A 200% WEB TRAFFIC INCREASE.

If you were not in the know, Google just rolled out a ranking update two days ago. YES, yet again, it's all about winning at this ranking game on Google. And for me, it's been a really interesting journey.

As I'm writing this my current page views are at 1,503 with 584 users from 3 views and 3 page views in just 17 days, which is so shocking because it hasn't even been a month. These numbers are an update from the one on the GP STRATEGY PAGE as I created that before this article.

I started this journey on 3rd June. I had NO TRAFFIC at all on June 2nd. And on June 3rd, my WEB TRAFFIC SPIKED UP. It was so amazing.

I had no organic search, now I have crazy traffic coming from organic search meaning Google has started ranking my pages. I had no social traffic, now I do. I had no referrals, now I do.

And all this is because of this GP STRATEGY I created out of frustration to really grow my traffic. Guys, this truly works.

And...

Another thing that truly amazes me is that within this short period of time between May and June, there have been two Google updates, but my web traffic has grown tremendously.

BUT WAIT...

I've heard most "GURUS" out there speak of loss in traffic due to such updates, but why hasn't that been the case with my traffic? Oh, well. They're the gurus...

BUT...

If I'm being honest, there were some things I had to implement on my site before undertaking this strategy. And I believe that's why I have seen such exponential traffic growth in such a short period of time regardless of any sort of Google updates.

Now, if you look at my stats on most of the website analyzers, you'll obviously notice I have been in the blogging game for a while with little to no traffic at all for months on end. And in all honesty, it was really hard putting in all the effort and seeing no changes.

In fact, check out a report from Serranking of my Blog stats up until May 2019.  I only had 2 ESTIMATED organic traffic.

I cannot wait for them to roll out the stats for June. It's not even about bragging. It's about that feeling of success when you've really worked so hard and for so long and finally getting to see some results.

Now, I'm going to share with you the steps I took a few days before June 3rd - before implementing the GP STRATEGY - that served as the blog pillars to an explosion of my blog traffic in such a short period of time.

So....

Here are the 5 STEPS I TOOK RIGHT BEFORE IMPLEMENTING THE GP STRATEGY TO INCREASE MY WEB TRAFFIC BY 200% IN 24 HOURS.

1. Mobile-friendly Site.

2. Submit Sitemap to Google Console.

3. High-quality Content Creation.

4. Adjust your blog URL.

5. Fix Broken Links and Increase Internal Links.

6. User-Friendly Site.

1. Mobile-Friendly Site.

We already spoke of how the number one key to success is to follow Google's metrics of ranking and just last month, Google started highly ranking sites that were mobile-friendly.

You don't believe me. Look at this.

This is one of the emails I received from Google console with one of the websites I'm currently managing. It's a fairly new site. I had to acquire consent from the owner to post this screenshot.
So what does this mean?

It goes to show that this factor really matters to Google enough for them to actually send an email but first and foremost, you have to be able to submit your sitemap to Google console. Speaking of which, let's talk more about that.

2. Submit Sitemap to Google Console.

In simple layman's terms, a sitemap is basically how you want your site structured. When you submit your sitemap, Google is able to categorize your content and is able to understand what your content is about. The format of a sitemap is XML and usually appears like this:
But it all depends on which platform you're using. If you're using Wordpress, Yoast will generate a sitemap for you. If you're using Blogger, use this link to generate your sitemap.

Let's just say, you have a new website that you need to be crawled faster, you need to submit your sitemap. This can take a couple of days or a couple of hours.

If you have a new blog post and a new website, simply submit your new blog URL to Google console to have it crawled faster to rank faster and gain more traffic.

But before you actually submit any blog URL, you need to have actually created a high-quality article. Let's talk more about that.

3. HIGH-QUALITY CONTENT CREATION.

My literature professor once told me that great content is created with purpose, intent, and structure.

Any good piece of content, no matter the genre or niche, needs to follow those three basic outlines.

So let's say you're in the lifestyle niche and you want to talk about home improvement strategies. First, you need to really put yourself in your audience's shoes by asking yourself simple yet crucial questions based upon your audience's needs.

  • What would I be looking for if I wanted to improve my home?

  • How much would I be willing to invest in regards to my income?

  • What would be the basic things I would first consider before any secondary desires when it came to improving my home?

  • Why would I even want to improve my home in the first place?

  • And which stores would help me achieve the desired look in accordance with my budget?

Actually, these questions, if well answered, would literally help you narrow down your target audience in that particular topic, the sub-topics to lay down and finally, the intent which would be to assist your audience to improve their homes effectively on a budget while achieving utmost satisfaction.

Then, you would need to choose a topic, a low competition keyword that you can easily rank for, and a subheading to help with this mind-boggling component known as Search Engine Optimization that really gave me a headache when I started my journey.

You can find out how to craft highly optimized titles in the GP STRATEGY.

So now, you have a blog post. The next step is to post it but before you do that, adjust your URL. Let's talk more about that.

4. ADJUST YOUR BLOG URL.

When I say adjust your blog URL, I literally mean that you should remove the date part of your blog URL. Google is all about sharing evergreen content and so is its audience.

So imagine, you have a blog post that you created, say, a year ago and the date is still on the URL, do you think that readers will think your information is up-to-date with the current trends regardless of your niche?

Different people have a certain preference when it comes to the age of a certain article. Most people don't believe in reading older posts and so do you.

As long as I do not know that the content is old and still perceive it to be valuable content, then I'm more inclined to click on this rather than knowing it to be an old piece of content with no current updates.

5. FIX BROKEN LINKS AND INCREASE INTERNAL LINKS.

I know this is something you have probably heard before but it actually works.

This is what happens on a regular basis on your blog. Google crawls your site every now and then. That is why if you're using blogger you can notice a significant difference in blog traffic statistics displayed in comparison with Google Analytics because blogger doesn't filter those statistics when Google crawls your site meaning you should never follow the stats shown on blogger for that simple.

But...

For that simple reason again, you have to check on your internal links and any broken links because when Google does crawl your site, they are able to find such broken links.

And in Google's eyes that is a red flag for a poor site with low-quality content, a site that is not user-friendly. Ultimately, what happens is Google simply stops showing your site on the SERP (Search Engine Results Page) and you continuously lose traffic and ranking simultaneously.

You can check your broken links here and fix them ASAP.

6. USER-FRIENDLY SITE.

Yes, we just spoke of a user-friendly site. Obviously, Google is very keen on the user experience and the slightest indication that your site is not user-friendly automatically sends bad signals that your site is unworthy of your current ranking and you automatically begin losing your Domain Score almost immediately.

I know this because when I was changing the theme of this blog, there was a period where I wasn't able to place all the links where they were supposed to be. And literally the next morning, my DA had dropped a spot down. The effect was that fast.

This means that Google really values the usability of a site.

So...

How can you make a site user-friendly?

Ensure all the buttons are clickable.

If you want to increase the user experience, you can use the heat map by CrazyEgg. It's free for 30 days after which you start paying a small fee. It will show you where your traffic is actually clicking the most and why they are if it is not a button or better yet, just add a button there.

Ensure all the external links are not broken.

That is, make sure that all the sites that you're currently linking to are actually quality sites with quality content constantly being updated. Use the tool I provided above to have routine checks for your site. Just to be on the safe side, depending on the number of times you post, I would recommend, having a bi-weekly routine checkup.

Loading Speed.

The best way to increase loading speed is to use tiny PNG to lower the size of your pictures then you will notice a jump in your site's loading speed. Faster loading speed means more traffic and less bounce rate. Speaking of bounce rate, let's talk more on that.

Bounce Rate.

If you use Google Analytics, you know what bounce rate is. But if not, it's the rate at which visitors leave your site once they land on it. You should strive to get your bounce rate to be as low as possible.

If you have a blog or website with a bounce rate of over 70%, you need to seriously reevaluate the type of content that your churning out.

If you have a bounce rate of 40% to 55%, then that's average. That's a good sign that your audience is actually engaging with your content (reading your content).

The only thing is that you need to figure out why they aren't staying long enough to the end of your blog posts or figure out if your blog posts are too short.

If you have a bounce rate of 20% to 30%. That is above average. And you should be really proud of yourself.

This is such a huge plus if and when you start reaching out to brands for brand partnerships and even when you want to sign up to sites like Mediavine for ad placement.

Increase Internal Links.

When I started out, I wasn't doing this at all but I soon came to realize that the more I linked to other posts on my blog, the more people were staying on my site thus bringing down my bounce rate.

Another interesting thing is that Google takes links to be a very crucial aspect to the point where they actually rank posts with higher internal links than those with less.

The reason is that Google sees such sites as valuable to the users as the content produced is similar to each other or directly relies on each other to give valuable information to the reader.

Since my journey started I've seen bloggers pull the worst mistakes when it comes to this step in that they link randomly to topics that are not in any way linked to each other. That is a bad step. That will not decrease the bounce rate rather it will seem very spammy to your readers.

Increase Backlinks.

There are several ways to increase backlinks. As you know, backlinks are directly proportionate to the domain score. That is the higher the number of quality backlinks, the higher the DA score. And the higher the DA score, the easier it is to rank your blog posts meaning more traffic and more revenue.

If you're ready to skyrocket your traffic, check out the ultimate strategy that I used to actually increase my traffic from 3 page views to 1,503 page views in just 17 days.

Electric Bike Maintenance Tips

Thursday, June 20, 2019

There is a new type of bike that has popped up all over the country. Electric bicycles have taken biking communities by storm due to the numerous advantages to be gained. However, to get the most out of your new bike, you need to know how to take care of it. With a few basic tips, you can hang onto your e-bike for much longer.

Keep It Clean
You do not need to purchase any special cleaning kit for hybrid bicycles. The only items you need to clean your bike are a degreaser, light cleaner, dry towel and clean rag. You do not want to use a pressurized hose as this will damage the bike. In particular, you want to make sure you clean debris out of the motor and chain. It is a good idea to wash it once every two weeks.

Maintain the Battery

The battery is arguably the most vital component of your bike. You need to charge it correctly every time, or you will significantly shorten its lifespan. Most batteries can last up to five years if properly maintained. You should ideally charge it after every ride, and you do not want to leave it uncharged for more than 24 hours. You also want to prevent the battery from being exposed to extreme temperatures.

Keep Up Tire Pressure

The main reason bicyclists experience poor performance on e-bikes is due to under-inflated tires. Soft tires will increase the amount of drag you experience, and the battery will drain out more quickly. The same way you need to inflate your car’s tires every so often, you need to do the same for your bike. You should check the tire pressure once a month to make sure everything is holding up fine.

Lubricate the Bike

Any time you lubricate your bicycle, you want to do so with some latex gloves to prevent oil from getting under your nails. You will know it is time for lubrication because you will hear a loud, squeaky sound coming from the chain. You need to apply oil once every so often and make sure to let it rest for a few minutes before wiping off the excess with a dry rag. You want to make sure not to apply too much as this will degrade performance.

Inspect All the Parts

Finally, you should perform a visually inspection once a month to make sure everything looks to be holding up well. You need to ensure both wheels are attached securely and that the handlebars are secure. Most importantly, you want to check the brake cables. If needed, you should tighten them so that you will be able to brake safely. Additionally, before going on any long journey, you should take it on a test run first. An easy ride close to home will give you all the information you need about what maintenance is required.

Maintenance is essential for any vehicle. With proper upkeep, you will be able to hang onto your e-bike for much longer than usual. Purchase your new electric bike today.

Top Tips For Spending Less On Food

Whether you an avid takeaway consumer or you just on your weekly shop, it’s surprising how much money people can save by cutting back or making swaps. Most people will save
an arm and a leg by cooking at home, rather than ringing for takeaways or splashing out in restaurants, but you should allow yourself a treat once in a while too.

Food bills are usually the biggest expense for a family after covering their rent or mortgage, so it’s a great place to start saving money. By being clever with money and using tools such as coupons to cut shopping costs you can allow your self a takeaway or a trip to chicken restaurants once in a while without breaking the budget.

Check out these top tip for spending less on food.

Only Buy What You Need

It’s a good idea to create a list before shopping, try having a look at your freezer, fridge and kitchen cupboards to see what you’ve already got. Then have a think about meals based on the contents of what you have in, often you will find that you only need one more ingredient to complete a meal. It can save you a lot of money just buying what you need rather than restocking everything. Another good tip is to use up all your half used products first, so route through these first.

Be Strict
Something as simple as a shopping list can make shopping a lot easier and a much cheaper process. If you have a list to hand and make a rule not to deviate away from it you will not only cut the time spent in the supermarket down but also save money. It will most definitely save on wasted food, as extra impulse purchase often are the items that get left. If you’re someone who has to do a lot of top-up shops a list will help you to minimise this as you will normally get more of what you need.

Get savvy in the supermarket

One of the biggest cost-cutting methods to use is to switch supermarkets or to collect coupons. In fact, there are people who make use of coupons that well that they have been known to get a whole garage full of items for only a fraction of the cost. Try shifting from big brands to the supermarkets own brand and value ranges, they are often made in the same factories and are sold much much cheaper.  It’s got to be worth a try anyway – you can always make the swap back if you or your family don’t like the change.

Lunch Boxes

Lunch out most definitely adds up, in fact, it’s known to be one of the biggest drains on a family food budget. Whether it’s a quick trip to the sandwich cart in the morning or popping to the shop on lunch, as adults we are the biggest culprits for unnecessary food purchases. Try making a change to prepacked lunches. You can also make changes with family days out by packing a picnic. It’s a brilliant way to get the kids involved too.
