Great Brands For Your New Spring Wardrobe

Monday, April 19, 2021

Saving money on clothes doesn't just mean buying the cheapest items you can find. It also means buying things that last AND fit well.

We'd like to introduce you to some great brands that would be perfect for that new Spring Wardrobe.

Peter Manning NYC-

Men who stand 5'8" or under have an incredibly difficult time shopping for clothes. a brand dedicated to making clothing for "not-so-tall" guys.

Big and tall men have Big & Tall stores, of course, but shorter men have had nothing dedicated to them until very recently. PMNYC was the first to create a full line for shorter guys' closets - everything from suits and outerwear to jeans and t-shirts. Pants start at 25-inch inseams. Even ties (four inches shorter) and pajama pants (27" inseams). Designing for shorter guys isn't just about having smaller sizes. Everything needs to be re-proportioned from sleeve lengths to pocket locations. PMNYC has done this, and even created their own sizing system to make everything fit just right!

See great outerwear styles like their Peter Manning Lightweight Flatiron Vest-

This lightweight quilted vest works as an essential layering piece - even over a t-shirt on cool Summer days/nights.  It's a truly classic piece designed specifically for our guys with its proportionally sizes collar and pockets and proper body length.

and

The Peter Manning Wax Jacket is a great take on a rugged classic, but (with its proportional features and proper sleeve and body length) made specifically for the “not-so-tall” guy. Featuring a durable waxed cotton shell to help keep the wind and rain at bay and a warm quilted nylon lining, this classic piece will take you from the city to the country and back.

Much Better- Improvement To Fridge- With Plexiglas

Sunday, April 18, 2021

We had bought our new fridge not long ago- an Insignia brand from Best Buy.

What we were NOT liking though was that all the bottles, juice boxes, etc., were all toppling over. Getting stuck in between the grooves of the shelves. Our older fridge had glass shelves so we didn't have this problem.

Fast forward to finding a piece of plexiglas at my dad's place, cut into a few pieces- and we no longer have that annoying problem! It blended in so nice that I didn't even know my husband had added it to two of our shelves.

It's been almost 2 weeks since we have gotten our first dose of the Moderna vaccine. Our older daughter has been staying with us since last summer, but she is not old enough to get a vaccine and is still has to wait. We were told we will have to wait till it is announced that we can get the second dose, although with hearing about side effects, I am in no hurry. I would like to hear if you have gotten the vaccine, which one, how many doses have you had and how, or if you had a reaction.

We bought a used car a few weeks ago- a 2014 Ford Fusion. We were looking for something we could tow behind the RV this year, since we had sold the SUV. Although  I have another older car, it is too rusted up underneath to add a base plate to it to tow, and our truck has too much weight. Now we find out we cant get a base plate for the newer car to tow it, as they aren't made for that make/model,  and have to buy a dolly. Already have a used one lined up to buy. Trying to see our older tow bar and tow defender, but it's not so easy to sell . Not like it's something everyone wants one of!  LOL-  We will out the older car up for sale once our daughter leaves.

I don't know about you but I am finding the price of groceries getting crazier all the time. We are feeding 3 adults and a dog that I swear can out me! I think we all need any grocery saving tips we can get. Living in the north as we do, doesn't help either. We are an isolated community and pay the price for it. No Dollar Store here for us, Costco, etc.. so we do our best. The folks at Urban Tastebud offer 84 simple ways to help you save money on groceries .

Stay Cool & Travel Safe With Pets This Summer With These Helpful Tips!

Monday, April 12, 2021

There’s no better time to enjoy your pet than in the summer months. The long, warm days often turn into fun, four-legged memories as you and your pet play, travel or just relax in the sun. There’s no doubt summertime is an exciting season; however there are many safety factors to take into consideration when planning activities with your animal companion.
Whether you’re hanging out at a backyard BBQ, visiting a local park, or packing up for a road trip, be sure to keep these helpful tips and pointers in mind in order to stay cool and travel safe with your beloved pet!

Stay Cool:
Every summer, veterinarians warn pet owners about the dangers of excessive heat for dogs. Heat stroke has a mortality rate of around 50%, but with prompt and intensive treatment, many dogs can survive. You’re best bet is to avoid and prevent overheating from happening to begin with!

·         Provide your pet with a well-ventilated room with closed curtains on those very hot and humid days.
·         Be sure to brush them daily to avoid matted fur, which traps heat.
·         Provide plenty of water available both indoors and outdoors! When taking your pet to the park, a party or on vacation, be sure to pack a portable water bowl.
·         Walk your fur-friend early in the morning and late in the evening to avoid the scorching sun and hot pavements.
·         If you’re spending a lot of time outdoors, make sure there are plenty of shady spots to rest.

Safe Travels:
Whether you’re planning to travel by plane, car, boat or train, it’s important for pet owners to prepare for the journey in order to make it a smooth, safe and enjoyable trip for all. Keep in mind: Summer may seem like the perfect time to travel, but unfortunately for our pets there are two major down sides: heat and crowds!
·         Provide your pet with plenty of water. You may want to bring your own water supplies to avoid an upset stomach.
·         Feed your pet 3-4 hours before your departure or car ride to avoid car sickeness.
·         If your pet suffers from travel and crowd anxiety, before resorting to medication consider researching safe products that will help reduce their stress. The AKC Calming Coat for instance, is a safe, affordable, and effective option!

·         Pack a bag just for your pet with food, bowls, a leash, any medications and a pooper scooper. Bring a favorite toy or blanket to give him a sense of home too.
·         Pet identification is a must, not just for traveling, but for every day use too. A Twigo Tag is a quick way to tag your pet and is great when visiting a new destination. It’s completely silent too!

·         All pets should be secured and buckled up in a vehicle!
·         Provide smaller pets with a comfortable and durable carrier.

Best Summer Activities:

People include their pets in more summer activities today than ever before. After all, nine out of ten pet owners consider their pet a member of the family. Here are some fun activities your pet can enjoy with you this season!
·         Take advantage of lakes, beaches and pools. Not only is this great exercise for Fido, but will also help him to stay cool.
·         Keep in mind not all dogs are expert swimmers. Before diving in, please strap on a safety vest. The AKC Flotation Life Vest is a must-have for all swimming pets this summer!

·         Find an outdoor, pet-friendly restaurant and enjoy a meal with your paw-fect pal!
·         Our pets can enjoy the beach, but be aware that the sand can be extremely hot on your pup’s paw pads. Protect paws with a bootie, like the AKC Paw Tech Dog Boots. These are stylish and comfortable and will protect paws from sharp objects hidden on the beach sand too!

Let’s stay aware and prepared in order to best insure that everyone will have a safe and paw-some time with four-legged friends this summer. Be sure to keep these tips in mind and let the good times roll!

The Best Jobs to Work Remotely

Wednesday, April 7, 2021

How much time do you waste in traffic every year as you commute to your workplace? These are hours that you can dedicate to other tasks and achieve more in life. Remote working has now become a norm in some Canadian industries as they try to cut down on costs.

The beauty of remote working is that it gives the workers a chance to work straight from their homes' comfort. It even gets better as there are tools that can help to manage such remote workers. We linked up with Kevin Cochran (you can check his profile), who shared some insights on top paying remote jobs:

Data entry

There are thousands of companies out there that have varying types of tasks that you can handle from the comfort of your home. Data entry has been listed among the best remote jobs with no experience. Some of these jobs can be handled with a basic computer or even a smartphone.

For instance, you can get a gig where you compile results from an interview. The nature of such jobs will vary from one company to the other. Job boards and social media platforms are a good starting point to land such gigs.

Professional gambling

There is a lot of money to be made on the Canadian online gambling space for those who understand winning strategies. It is among the work from home jobs that sometimes combines luck and strategy. You can start small and take advantage of free spins on various Canadian sites before you start staking real money.

Ensure that you engage in responsible gambling or you end being a depressed person. Creating a budget is one approach that ensures that you do not spend more than you can afford to lose. Take advantage of the information that you can gather online to become better at the craft.

Virtual assistant

The modern world has opened opportunities for people to cooperate remotely. There are business owners, CEOs, and high-ranking managers who can use an extra pair of hands. A virtual assistant comes in handy to handle some of the tasks for such people.

The duties of a virtual assistant will vary from one engagement to another. For instance, such an assistant can create schedules, book appointments, hotels or, tickets on behalf of their bosses. The beauty of such engagements is that employers can reduce expenses such as employee benefits and still get the work done.

Freelance writing

Have you ever asked yourself where all this beautiful content you browse on the internet comes from? Freelance writing is one of the most popular work from home jobs that enables individuals and business owners to communicate ideas. Some of the most common types of content freelance writers churn out include articles, blog posts, reviews, and informational pieces.

Writing gigs differ depending on the target client and end goals. You can use cold-pitching, job boards, or social media platforms to land writing gigs. Freelance writers must learn how to communicate with readers to advance their craft.

You do not have to worry about unemployment as long as you possess computer programming skills. It has been rated among the best tech skills for remote work as you can create different programs remotely. You can even create online tutorials and teach people programming.

Translation jobs

Can you write and speak more than one language? Some people can use your help in various avenues. There are hundreds of companies out there that employ translators, and you can give it a shot. You can also create a website or use social media for hunting for translation jobs and earning a living.

Graphic designer

This is a technical task but pays well to those who know their craft. Creating an online portfolio and a website can be a good starting point for a graphic designer. Ensure that you deliver pure gold on your work and get referrals from your customers. Remember to check the modern trends and market rates to position yourself in the market.

Above are some of the jobs that you can handle remotely and still make a living. However, it is important to note that there are jobs that cannot be done remotely, such as construction. Analyze the skills you possess and resources at hand before selecting your perfect job.
