What is The Rice Krispies #TreatsforToys Program?

For the second year in a row, Kellogg’s Rice Krispies is partnering with The Salvation Army for the#TreatsforToys program.

Make a treat and make a difference.

From now till December 24th Kellogg's Rice Krispies will donate a toy to a child in need whenever a Canadian shares a photo of a toy shaped Rice Krispie treat on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the #TreatsforToys hashtag. Kellogg will make a donation of $20 to The Salvation Army, up to a maximum of $30,000. The Salvation Army will use this donation to buy toys for children in need across Canada this holiday season. 

1. So make a toy shaped treat with your Rice Krispies. 
2. Then take a photo of your treat using your digital camera or smart phone. 
3. Upload your photo to RiceKrispies.ca.
4. Your kids will have fun creating their "food toys" and you'll feel good knowing you've helped give a less fortunate child a toy this holiday season.

Review: T-Fal Fresh Express

Even the most diligent cooks knows that food prep can be a chore. This is why I was excited to try Fresh Express by T-Fal.

It quickly, grates, slices, and shreds a variety of fruits a veggies and even nuts. It is much more effective than a hand grater and a lot more fun. It is super convenient if you are buying food in bulk to prepare for the freezer. The Fresh Express comes with 5 different drums so all you food prepping needs are at your fingertips. It is a fun and useful tool for adults who love (or hate) to cook.

I recently tried it in making some apple bran muffins and shredding the apple.

It's a nice addition to the kitchen and I can't wait to try it on other cooking/ baking preps I'll be doing. It was also very easy to use, take apart for cleaning and to reassemble.

·         Do a spending analysis –
Knowing where your money is going is half the battle. Go through your past six months of spending, including groceries, household expenses, utilities, rent/mortgage, clothing and entertainment, and analyze just how much money went where. You want to understand the areas in which you’re overspending.

·         “Common Cents” comparisons –
In addition to doing a spending analysis, it’s time to shop smart and look for products that will stretch your dollar. So many people default to value brands thinking they equal savings. Not always! If you need to use more of a budget-product or rewash items to get the same results you’re not saving a thing. Look to trusted products such as Tide Simply Clean and Fresh, Charmin Basic and Ultra Dawn that offer value and efficacy.

·         Plan your purchases and stick to your budget –
To avoid impulse purchases, plan head, make a list, and use cash! Avoid overspending by taking cash from the ATM twice a month and planning how you’ll use that money. When it’s gone, you’re done shopping.

·         Common “Cents” Couponing –
