My How We've Grown!

Saturday, May 7, 2011

You all may have remembered the picture of the bunny I posted on April 23rd that we are babysitting till my daughter Ria, opens the petting zoo:

I wanted to share with you how big she has grown in 16 days:

She has been a joy to have in our house. We let her have a run around the living room once a day and she loves it. She is really is a sweetie. Anyone else have a rabbit? I know we're gonna miss her when she has to leave.

I Love Gummibar!

Have you heard of Gummibär? He's a gummy bear. He's green, jiggly and cute. You might know him from his videos on the internet. Maybe you’ve seen me on YouTube or MySpace, he is one of the most viewed viral videos of all time. People from every country of the world love to watch him sing and dance. He sings in English, Hungarian, French, Spanish and Swedish and I is learning new languages every day. His debut CD is called I Am Your Gummy Bear. Not only does it include 15 groovy tunes such as I Am A Gummy Bear (The Gummy Bear Song), Funny DJ, Cho Ka Ka O, Gummy From Bom Bom Bay, Buj Buj Polka, and many others, but it even includes the Spanish and Hungarian versions of The Gummy Bear Song as bonus tracks and 2 versions of the I Am A Gummy Bear video as well as wallpapers for your computer.

I am now a big fan of Gummibar since learning more about him, and I'm sure once you see his videos online, you will be too!His music is update and he's cute to boot!
I love Gummibar!

Book Review:Betty Crocker the Big Book of Cupcakes

Review by: Cynthia ( my mom)

This awesome cupcake book called: "Betty Crocker The Big Book of Cupcakes",has every variety of cupcake, each kind decorated differently. If you want variety....this book is IT. Almost every recipe can be made from scratch or with a mix, so take your choice. There are baked Alaska cupcakes, lemon burst cupcakes, cookies 'n cream cupcakes to name only a few. I love the ways the cupcakes are decorated....easy enough for an amateur. There is a favorite cupcake for everyone, there's "banana-chocolate chip cupcakes", "snowball cupcakes", "adorable applesauce cupcakes", decorated to look like an apple with a green gummy worm coming out of the apple. The icing on these cupcakes is red, a piece of pretzel is using for the apple "stem", the green leaves on the apple are green mint candy leaves. So simple to do. These would look awesome at some party.

If you want fun decorating and enjoy baking this Betty Crocker cupcake book is one of the Best! These cupcakes will make your birthday parties special. They're also ideal for holidays or graduation. This is one "yummy" cookbook you shouldn't be without. If you are on a tight budget and you can't afford an expensive store bought cake, or especially decorated cake, your kids will adore these individual cupcakes. Spectacular!!

Book Review: A Woman's Guide To a Healthy Stomach by Jacqueline L. Wolf, M.D

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Anyone who suffers from digestive problems and still has unanswered questions, will benefit from the book called: " A Woman's Guide To a Healthy Stomache" by Jacqueline L. Wolf, M.D.
I recently finished reading this book, after noticing it in the drugstore and contacting Harlequin to review it.

In this reassuring guide, Dr. Jacqueline L. Wolf, a leading expert in the field of gastrointestinal health, explained the causes and cures for women's most common digestive ailments (including bloating, constipation, diarrhea, acid reflux, IBS) and more serious, life-altering conditions like Crohn's disease and endometriosis.

I have suffered from "IBS" for over 20 years, or at least that is what the doctors have always told me.I read everything I can on my digestive "problem"- always looking for an answer that may help me lead a more normal life.Digestive problems are on the rise too it seems. This book will answer many questions for those suffering from stomache ailments. This is a book that will definately remain a "keeper" in my home as a reference book.

Power To Choose Your Electricity Provider

Most people don’t know that many states across the country give residents and small businesses the right to choose their electricity provider. Previously, customers only had one provider available to them—their local utility company. But with the deregulation of the electricity market in the 1990’s, the industry opened the door to competition, and a host of independent energy suppliers stepped on the scene. The result of all of this choice? The ability to get a lower rate, improved service or even value-added benefits. A win-win situation for consumers, as well as suppliers.

But with of all of the options out there, selecting the right energy provider for your family or small business can be confusing. Here are some tips to help ensure you make an informed decision and gain the best rates, service and value-adds possible.

Tip #1: If you live in a state that permits energy competition, know that you have the right to choose, and choosing your electricity provider is a legitimate decision and is sanctioned by your state. You can feel comfortable knowing that suppliers work with your local utility company to ensure that you will not experience any interruption in service. Delivery will continue to be provided by your local utility company, which has the responsibility to ensure the wires and meters are working properly.

Tip #2: Understand the difference between a fixed rate and a variable rate. Electricity providers either offer a fixed rate or a variable rate and it is important to consider the pros and cons of each. Variable rates can fluctuate from month-to-month according to the market. The benefits of a variable rate plan are that you won’t be locked into an annual contract and your rate may decrease if the market goes down. It’s very easy to switch to another provider or back to your local utility if you have a variable rate plan. A fixed rate will remain constant over the term of the agreement. Usually you will need to sign a contract with termination fees if you choose a fixed rate, but you’ll know that your rate won’t increase if the market goes up.

Tip #3: Look for an electricity provider who offers more than just electricity. Does the supplier offer any value-added services, like rewards programs that enable you to earn cash-back, airline miles, hotel points, or education rewards just for paying your electricity bill? Or do they only offer standard energy supply? One energy provider worth checking out is Energy Plus, the only electricity provider to enroll all of its 150,000 customers in a comprehensive rewards program. Imagine getting rewarded with airline, hotel, rail, retail, college savings and cash-back just for paying your electricity bill!

Tip #4: Make sure the provider is both risk free and fee free. You shouldn’t have to commit to a yearly contract or pay added fees. Look for risk-free services that can be cancelled at any time and never include enrollment, monthly service, switching or cancellation fees.

Tip #5: How’s the customer service? Who wants to wait on hold for 30 minutes before reaching a live person or deal with frustrating call centers? Unfortunately, this can happen with some utility companies; but there are suppliers out there who actually make it their mission to provide superior customer service.

Tip #6: Consider going green. Does the supplier you are considering offer a green option? Now more than ever, helping the environment is a key concern for residents nationwide—and your supplier can help you support your environmental goals with options like 100% wind power.

Looking for a supplier recommendation that fits the six tips above? We suggest Energy Plus. As one of the fastest growing energy suppliers in the US, not only do they have great customer service with risk-free and fee-free policies, they offer a comprehensive rewards program for every customer and a green option. Energy Plus is also a variable rate energy company. For more information and to check service in your state, visit www.energypluscompany.com

5 Ways That Small Businesses Can Save On Electricity

Today, as a small business owner, you are looking to save every penny you can. Electricity costs are going up all the time, so finding a cheap electricity supplier and reducing the amount of electricity you use are both great ways to squeeze costs. This guide will help you to get started...

Adjust your Thermostat

If you have electric heating and air conditioning, turn the thermostat up in the summer and back down in the winter, this will save the heating from coming on unnecessarily. Just one degree change can produce up to 10% energy savings, so it is definitely worth doing!
Also, think about your work patterns. If there’s no one in overnight, there is no point in keeping your business at the same temperature as during the day. You probably programme your thermostat at home based on the time of day, so why wouldn’t you do the same at work?

Office Equipment

Office equipment is a big culprit when it comes to energy, so turn off your copiers and computers overnight and when they are not in use. Don’t rely on screensavers; despite myths to the contrary, your monitor can still use nearly the same amount of electricity while the screensaver is on. Don’t worry about wearing out your hard drive by constantly rebooting your computer; this was an issue many years ago, but not with today’s modern computers.

Efficient Lighting

If you have incandescent bulbs anywhere, replace them with compact fluorescent bulbs. They use about one third the power of an equivalent incandescent bulb, and are compatible with existing light fittings.
Even if you have fluorescent tube lighting, you can still save energy. There is a new generation of fluorescent lighting, known as triphosphor tubes, which are about 12% more energy efficient than traditional tubes. They are compatible with existing fittings and last about twice as long, so you could save money that way too!

Motion Sensors

There is no point in lighting an office if there is nobody in it! You could ask people to turn out the lights when they leave a room, but if you really want to make sure, think about putting in motion sensors. These will turn out the lights when no one is in the room, and turn them back on automatically when people come back in. You can buy light switches with built-in sensors, which is an easy way to start saving money!

Shop Around for the Best Rates

The days of electricity monopolies are long gone, and there are many suppliers to choose from. There are comparison sites on the web to help you find the cheapest supplier, and switching is relatively easy. Check rates regularly and be prepared to switch again if your supplier is no longer competitive.

Hitting the Road with National Car Rental

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

As I may have mentioned before, we plan on renting a car during our California trip. We decided it will be the best way to get around and not miss seeing anything. We will also be able to enjoy our trip at our own pace. We will not have to rush as we would if we had to catch some form of public transportation. As with purchasing anything else we shopped around before deciding on any one car rental company. After some searching, we realized National Car Rental Company had the best rates. They also have great customer service and a variety of cars to pick from.

We will be picking up our car in Los Angeles,Ca. and dropping off in Orange County,Ca. This was a nice option for us so that we didn't have to drive all the way back to L.A after finishing off our travel at the "other end".

Looking for some car rental deals? Check out their home page of Car Rental Specials To Go if you are planning your own trip anytime soon.
