Review: Trudeau Food to Go Containers

Sunday, November 6, 2016

Review by: Erika

Because I take my lunch to work most days, I was happy after finding out I'd have the opportunity to review some products from Trudeau!!

Trudeau is a Canadian manufacturer and industry leader in the design and development of modern kitchenware. FUEL by Trudeau is a collection of fun, functional, on-the-go and BPA free products. Its innovative shapes are geared to today's active lifestyles. They are all easy to use, easy to clean and environmentally friendly!!

The FUEL Lunch Set includes a sandwich box, a snack & dip container with spreader and a juice bottle.

At first, I thought this would be more suitable for kids but to my surprise, it's great for adults too! The sandwich box is great - the one piece construction is innovative and provides a tight, foolproof seal. The snack & dip container works with any kind of snack, from crackers to carrots, and the juice bottle is the perfect size for any lunch time beverage.

The FUEL Condiment Set includes three cute and colorful containers that can hold any type of condiment you choose. I found that they were perfect for my salad dressings and veggie dips!!

The FUEL Food To Go Container was probably my favorite.

It includes cutlery in a case that snaps into the top of the container, never again will I have to worry about forgotten cutlery!! The lid locks into place, keeping food secure. This container works with any kind of lunch, whether it's a salad or leftovers from supper the night before.

Overall, I was very impressed with Trudeau's products and would recommend them to anyone looking for on-the-go containers and accessories. They are microwave & dishwasher safe, high quality and appealing.

Things to See and Do in Las Vegas

Saturday, November 5, 2016

We'll be in Las Vegas in under 2 weeks, for about 3 days. This will be our 4th time there so we've seen alot of Vegas already, but one show we NEVER tire of and see EVERY time is Terry Fator, so we're looking forward to that one again- and we'll be with Ria and her fiance Chris too- so that will be their first time to see the show- and I KNOW they are going to love it!

We'll be staying at a RV campground near the strip, and Jakey will be at doggy daycare when we're busy doing the seeing and doing during the day. Ria and Chris will be busy at a diving trade show so we'll only have the evenings with them.

So what  what can one see in Las Vegas?

"The 2007 America's Got Talent winner Terry Fator does  "The Voice of Entertainment" Live show in Las Vegas at the Hotel and Casino The Mirage. If you want to have a good laugh while in Las Vegas this is the place to be, with a Live band to back him up, the show is very lively and fun filled. The shows run Monday to Thursday at 7:30 PM, though general tickets available for his show  the other option to book the tickets is the Terry Fator MVP package, where you can experience Terry and all his characters from the best seats in the theater. This is a MUST SEE readers so please do this show!"

Bally's Real Bodies

"Except for Medical student, most of us have never seen a real human body from the inside. Until now I had never thought that it was possible to see a real human body from the inside either, i.e, a body that shows the internal organs and muscles etc. Bally's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has an exhibition called "Real Bodies" which exhibits real human bodies. It is one of a kind experience, here you can see real human specimen's that shows how our internal parts work. The exhibition shows how all the systems inside our body actually works and looks like, it is fascinating to see it and learn about our own body. The exhibition is open from 10 AM every day with General admission at $24.95+ Fee and Children tickets at $15+fees"

"Everyone who has ever been to Las Vegas has been to the Strip, but only a few minutes away from the buzzing Strip is a sanctuary for the big cats. The Lion Habitat Ranch is a lion sanctuary where you can have an experience of your lifetime. At the Habitat you can take Behind the scene tours, Feast with the beasts or feed Ozzie the Painting Giraffe.

The lions in the habitat are very well taken care of and have a nice bonding with their caretakers. The Habitat educates the community about African Lions and supports the effort of conservation of the Lions in the wild."

"If you are in Las Vegas and want to do something other than Gambling, or if you want to learn how to shoot or just want to practice shooting you should check out The Range 702.

Depending on what kind of experience you want, you can choose different packages from the list they have, the range will provide you a wide variety of guns to choose from (depending on the package chosen and availability of the guns). The Range 702 even have a package for inexperienced Female customers, they also have classes that you can attend to learn more about guns or to learn about the process and legal matters on how to a permit to carry Concealed weapons. "

"One more interesting place to visit while in Las Vegas is The Mob Museum, it is a National museum that tells us the true stories of Organized crimes and Law enforcement's throughout the American history. There are hundreds of artifacts throughout the museum which adds a great impact to the stories being told. Apart from learning about American mob history, you can also take pictures for souvenirs, by standing in a line up as a convict. You stand with other visitors behind a one-way mirror to get your pictures taken, which is really fun. Or you can buy your souvenirs from the retail shop in the museum.

Apart from their regular exhibitions, there are several events that are planned for the month, so be sure to check the upcoming events for the month before you visit the museum. Spending the day in the Mob museum is fun and a very different way to spend time in Las Vegas."

Well that's a few of the places for sure we'll be seeing and we may even have some more to tell you about if time allows and we get others into our busy schedule. Will there be time for the slot machines? I sure hope so... as those are always fun too!

Book Review: Frugal Fresh Start by Stephanie Jones

Thursday, November 3, 2016

I have over the years read many a frugal book. I love them all. And despite reading so many of them, I still enjoy reading "everyone's story".

My latest frugal book read was Frugal Fresh Start by Stephanie Jones. It has a 28 day challenge to trim your expenses, build a budget and fix your finances. Stephanie tells you in the book to read one day at a time and do the challenges, but once I get into a good book, well sorry Stephanie, I can't put it down, and one chapter a day ain't good enough for me -lol!
I did enjoy this book, as I do most "how to be frugal" books.
It will share with you ways to trim your expenses and leave you with more money for your savings or to pay down your debt.

Stephanie Jones and her husband live in the boonies of Northern California with their four kids ages eight months to nearly eight years. When she's not crunching numbers for the family's finances, you can find her adventuring outdoors with the family, sewing something fabulous for the kids, or baking something delicious. At SixFiguresUnder.com, Stephanie shares her family's journey to pay off over $130,000 of law school student loans in three years.

Review: Thinkware F750 Dash Cam

Wednesday, November 2, 2016

The future is finally here. With its advanced features and WiFi capabilities, the Thinkware F750 dash cam has it all -- including the 2015 CES Innovation Awards. The Advanced Driver Assistance System helps prevent accidents and increases driver safety. Meanwhile, the built-in WiFi allows the user to control various device settings, play back videos, and stream footage live all through their smartphone.

Gerry had the opportunity to review one of these and loved that it was compact and unobstructed to the driver.

It had an easy install and easy set up in the SUV.. but could also be used in our RV when driving that.
It came with easy to understand instructions as well as:

1080p Sony Exmor Sensor / Wi-Fi Connectivity / Built-in GPS
/ Integrated Thermal Protection / Dual Save / Road Safety
Warning System / Safety Camera Warning / Fail-Safe
Recording / Parking Surveillance Mode Ready / Rear View Camera Ready

These are really great dash cams for anyone wanting to play back trips or as video evidence in the case of an accident. They also provide a red light and speed camera warning. Handy to have.

Cut Down on Those Ridiculous Transport Costs with This Essential Guide

Transport is a necessary and expensive part of the lives of many of us. But not enough people look into ways that money be saved here. This article is here to help you make it more affordable!

Use your feet instead

Okay, that seems like way too obvious a solution. In fact, it probably isn’t all that useful to you if you’re reading this! Walking around more is certainly something you could consider. You could even implement it partially, by getting off at earlier stops and walking the rest of the way to your destination. But walking isn’t practical for everyone, so let’s move on!

Look into car insurance discounts

Car insurance is one of the most expensive elements of car ownership. And it’s not exactly something you can skip out on, either! Because the law requires you to have it, you may feel that there aren’t a lot of options when it comes to saving money. (Outside of being a careful driver, of course.) But there are actually discounts out there that can help you out if you’re in certain situations. If you can prove that your daily commute is short, you may be able to get a discount. The same applies if you’re a student with good grades, or a retiree. Speak to an insurance agent.

Find promo codes and saving schemes

If you’re a frequent traveller, you should look into any saving schemes that are available from the transport company. Transport services often have money-saving memberships for those who travel with them frequently. Something else you should look into is promo codes. If you look hard enough, you can find promo codes for pretty much any type of transport.

Remove weight from your vehicle

The more weight you have in your vehicle, the worse your fuel economy is going to be. A lot of people forget that the weight of their vehicle affects how efficiently it runs. So make sure you clear it out, removing anything you don’t need in there. Want to know another way of reducing the weight of your vehicle? Filling your gas tank only halfway. Fuel consumption is significantly faster when transporting a car with a full gas tank. Seems bizarre, but it’s true!

Keep your car maintained

One of the things that causes the most transportation costs is repairs. And what’s one of the most common problems that leads to the need for repairs? A lack of maintenance. For some, keeping the car properly maintained seems to cost too much money. But at the end of the day, it will end up saving you money in the long run. It helps keep your car healthy and efficient. If you want to maximize your saving capacity here, you should look into learning to do basic car maintenance tasks by yourself.

Book tickets in advance

Train tickets are getting more and more expensive all the time. But if you book in advance, the chances are high that you’ll be able to save a lot of money. Last-minute train tickets are worth looking into, but these are rarely as cheap. (In fact, much of the time, they can be very expensive.) The same can’t always be said for plane tickets, however. Last-minute plane tickets are often great if you want to save some money on travel.

Make Christmas More Affordable With These Frugal Hacks

Tuesday, November 1, 2016

Christmas in an undeniable expensive time for families. From decorations to gifts, it’s a holiday the encourages a lot of spending. If you don’t have a big budget, you might be concerned that you can’t give your family the Christmas they deserve. This might tempt you into taking out loans which you have to spend all of next year paying off. However, you’ll be pleased to know that this is not your only option. There are ways in which you can have an incredible Christmas without spending a fortune. So instead of dreading the upcoming holidays, make it more affordable with these frugal hacks.

Start saving now

Even though the holidays still seem far away, they will be here before we know it. So the sooner you start saving, the less stressful and more manageable your shopping will be. Start by looking at your current spending habits and consider whether you can reduce them. Perhaps you can buy cheaper branded items from your grocery store or bulk buy certain items when they are on offer. Try to be ruthless but also ensure you don't deny your family anything important.

Also, think about how you can add to your budget each week in the run-up to Christmas. For instance, you can look into selling a tradebit download, handmade jewelry or freelance work online. These are all simple but effective money-making ideas you can practice in your spare time.

Use sales to your advantage

Retailers will start to host sale events in their stores both on and offline. Black Friday, for example, is one of the biggest pre-Christmas sales, where retailers offer large discounts. You can find anything from electronics to clothing for considerably lower prices. This can make your holiday shopping far more affordable. Even if you can’t get all of the items you need, the savings you can receive make these sales extremely worthwhile.

So start keeping a lookout for sales happening now to help stagger your spending. One of the best ways of doing this is by signing up to email subscriptions for your favorite stores. They will inform you when these events will occur and may even give you additional discount codes too.

Don't overlook thrift stores

Many people make the mistake of overlooking thrift and secondhand stores. But they can be an excellent resource if you want to save money this Christmas. Many items that are donated to them are in good condition and look virtually brand new. Some may even still be in their original packaging. The great thing is that their prices will be significantly reduced. So you can get wonderful gifts for your loved ones without having to pay inflated retail prices. Visit your nearest thrift store today to see what you can uncover. From clothing to toys, you’ll be surprised at just how much they have available.

With these hacks to help you, the festive season can be far more budget friendly. The holidays should be spent enjoying time with your family and not worrying about your finances. So make this Christmas the best one yet while also staying out of the red.

Book Review: From Junk Food To Joy Food

As much as I try to eat healthy, I don't always succeed. I still like what I like and diets don't work for me. At 50, I am trying to stay away from that darn middle age spread and as well just eat healthier for my health in general. I also have food intolerances and find that by eating healthier alternatives my stomach behaves much better and I have less upset, rumbles, etc..

I had read about healthier eating options in a magazine one day and decided to pick up the book  by Joy Baurer called- "From Junk Food to Joy Food." Joy's book is about " All the Foods You Love to Eat..Only Better".

Joy covers more than 115 recipes in her  book from Breakfast to Desserts- showing you that you don't have to sacrifice taste to eat well and to eat things you love. No more counting calories!

This is truly a book I will be keeping as it is a nice hardcover book, full of big, color pictures on every page and simple foods, simple eating, simple recipes. On every page Joy also shows you the Junk Food and the Joy Food- the not so healthy version and Joy's healthier version of the recipe...

I will be adding this book to my "keepers" and trying many of these healthier version recipes....a great book to have for any health conscious person or for someone who loves trying new recipes!
