While in California we will be visiting Madera, which is located in the Central Valley and Sierra Nevada. It is in the ideal location to everything we want to see, close to Fresno, (where we fly out from), and numerous Californian attractions.
The area is world famous for their numerous vineyards, many of which are a must see.

While in Madera, we will be visiting Home Grown Cellars where they cultivate, grow and process pomegranate juice and pomegranates. I think it is fascinating to know that pomegranates are among the oldest cultivated foods in the world, dating back as far back as 3000 BC, to what is now modern Iran. In fact, they figure potently, in Greek mythology. The juice made in Home Grown Cellars is 100% natural, with no additives, no preservatives, and no added sugar. These fruits are jam packed in goodness, being an excellent source of antioxidants that help your body repair and prevent damage by free radicals. There is such a great variety of products produced, and frankly it will be a lot of fun to watch, what is certainly an unusual fruit in Canada grow. We are very excited to see how these pomegranate products are made, and to sample each one of them.
Madera is wine country, and Gerry especially does love his wine.
While in town we will be making a visit to Quady Winery, which is the number one rated attraction in Madera according to Trip Advisor. The atmosphere in Quady is said to be fantastic and very wonderful for wine tasting. The wine tasting is free, and it allows you to appreciate the different selections of wines that Quady has to offer. You do not have to be an expert by any means to learn to enjoy a good glass of wine. Luckily for us, we will be visiting during grape crushing season which will last from August to October. So not only do we get to taste some wonderful wines but we also get to see how they are made. For the truly daring visitors, they can even experience the age old tradition of crushing the grapes with their feet. Too cool-this should be one for the bucket list!
And for a place to hang our hats and lay our heads in Madera we will be staying at Spring Hill Suites- which is part of the Marriott family. The hotel is centrally located close to Fresno as well as Yosemite National Park, both places that we hope to visit while in California. The hotel suites offer different places for eating, relaxing and sleeping so that they truly feel like they are your home away from home. The suits also offer butler’s pantries complete with refrigerator, sink & microwave.
Since we do a lot of travel blogging, I am especially looking forward to a large well lit desk, along with the very important free high speed internet. Additionally, the hotel offers complimentary parking, so that you do not waste your valuable dollars just to pay for a place to park your rental car. It is also nice that the hotel offers complimentary breakfast. We pay so much for everything in life, so it can be really nice, to have things included in the price of the hotel.
After a long day exploring the area you can relax in their outdoor pool, or a whirlpool. This will be a great place to lay down our head after we finish exploring another part of the state of California.
