     I love taking care of my skin, and was very happy to be able to review moisturizer for a company called:  Kohana.

    Scent as well as what the product stands for and how good it feels on my skin is important too.
I recieved 3 small jars : Lavendar Butter Creme,Wild Ginger Tropical Moisture Creme and Jasmine Green Tea. I loved all the scents! I've been opening the jars just to smell them.They aren't greasy but yet they are thick enough to feel they are actually absorbing into my skin.My favorite is the Wild Ginger Tropical Moisture Creme-love the smell!

Quick and Easy Halloween Costumes

Closet Costumes


When you don’t have much time, and even less money, you can still come up with a cool Halloween costume. Just be creative and use what you have in the closet or can find at Goodwill.


Ghosts: Of course, an old white sheet with the eyes cut out will work, but why not pretty it up some? You can paint on eyelashes and eyeshadow, even lipstick, earrings, and a necklace. Male ghosts can have beards and mustaches.


Scarecrow: You’ll need an extra large flannel shirt, some old jeans, and some rope to make a belt. Tie some more rope at the bottom of jeans and sleeves, and stuff in a little straw to hang out. A straw hat and a little makeup and you’re ready to go.

Hippy: 1960s Hippy: Tie dyed clothes, wide legged jeans with patches, long wigs, platform sandals, headbands, fringe vests, peace signs, big sun glasses are all part of the hippy look.

Old man: Cuffed dark pants and dress shirt, a flannel hat and walking cane. Dye the hair with temporary gray or dust with lots of flour.

Old woman: Old lady dress to below the knee, knee-highs that roll up a little, add old lady shoes, and a big black purse, dye the hair and cake on the makeup.


American tourist: For men, a loud Hawaiian shirt and shorts, hang a camera from your neck, and stick maps in your pocket. Women should wear a loud, colorful dress and a big sun hat with flat shoes and a straw bag.


Nerd: Grease your hair back, find some flood length pants, a white short sleeved dress shirt, white socks, penny loafers or lace up shoes, a pocket protector, and dark framed glasses with tape on the corner.


Clown: Find any colorful clothes that are too big. Decorate with fabric paint or markers, then pin on some large pom-poms, and a cheap wig and hat, and paint your face white. Then add other makeup or a red clown nose.

Broke and Hungry? Eat This!

With the current state of our economy, many people bring in a too much to qualify for food stamps, but not enough to leave a good amount for food after the bills are paid. But, eating is not an option! You must have enough good food to fill you up and keep you healthy.



Almost every town, and all large cities, has a food bank. Simply call 211 and ask them where the closest food bank is. Pride stands in the way of some people asking for help, but if you’re broke, it is time to swallow your pride and get in line. Staples are typically what you’ll receive- canned beans and vegetables, rice, peanut butter, and surplus government cheese. But, these things can be used, in combination with what small amounts of other things you are able to buy, to put together some meals for you and your family.

When you’re down to your last $5 or $10, it is tempting to hit a fast food restaurant and grab some quick and cheap burgers. (Which have become cheaper due to the recession.) However, take that money into a grocery store and you can pick up enough food for a few days. A pack of hot dogs or hamburger, some buns, and a bag of potatoes can make several meals. Eggs are another very inexpensive option that packs a nutritional punch. Pick up some bread, bologna, sliced cheese, ramen noodles, tuna fish, peanut butter, and pork and beans. Be creative- beans and wieners are a good and hearty meal for four that can cost under $3. Bologna and cheese sandwiches paired with ramen noodles will also fill you up cheaply.


Stuff potatoes with salsa, beans, cheese, veggies, or chili for a filling, and cheap, meal. Sprinkle on a little grated choose or add a dollop of sour cream to make them even more yummy.


Macaroni & Cheese can get old quick, but there are a couple ways to add to it and make a complete meal. Stir a can of chili into it after preparing and just before serving, and it has a completely different taste and feel. Tuna ‘casserole’ made by stirring in some frozen peas and a can of tuna fish is filling and delicious as well.



Whole chickens are great buys. Roast it and serve half one night with some potatoes and vegetables, and save the other half to make a nice soup or casserole dish. You can cut up the chicken, mix it with some frozen mixed vegetables and a can of cream soup for a bubbly and delicious meal. If you have baking mix or canned biscuits, put them on top before popping into the oven.



Buy store brands, and shop at places like Save-a-Lot and Aldi’s, where your money goes so much further.One exception to that rule is when a store has awesome sales, like buy one get one free deals on meats. Then try to hit the store on Saturday, when all of the sample people are there. You could easily eat enough to skip lunch!

October 2,2010- Saturday

Well, just off to bed soon...
Thought I would update on a few things:

-Older daughter,Ria, left for Calgary last weekend, to visit with friends and pick up the younger one, who lives there. They will both be driving back here for Canadian Thanksgiving, this weekend.Then Erika, will make the drive back by herself.It will be nice to have her home again- as she's been gone since the end of June.

-We've been pet sitting Ria's pets- 2 guinea pigs and 3 ferrets.We go once in the day to feed them and her uncle takes the afternoon shift.I'm on cleaning duty every few days as well.She lives about a 5 minute drive from here, so we go there, check on the apartment and the pets.My sister will be looking after our guinea pigs while we are away at the end of the month.

-Gerry has been continuing work on the living room, mudding and sanding, so may start the painting tommorow I believe. We have gone with a light brown shade for the 3 walls. Still waiting on the wallpaper to finish off the one feature wall.Had to spend a bit of money today for the one can of paint,( hoping that will be enough), and  got a garden nozzle on sale for $2! More money went for shop vac bags too- which is needed when you have to mud and sand.

- Love those end of summer sales. I got a new summer top at Walmart today as well for only $1. Looked for $1 clothes for Gerry, but he's an XL and that size is rarely found.. more of the smalls and mediums.
Supper: Subway- 3 free cookies coupon with a footlong purchase and .50 off 6" with another coupon.

-Gerry spent some time outdoors today too with putting all the yard ornaments away, patio furniture and just cleaning up the yard. No sense to leave it too late. Told him he'll need to put Christmas light hooks up next weekend or the weekend after. You certainly don't want to be doing that out there in the cold.
