Review: A Moment With Terri Jay

Monday, March 17, 2014

Recently, I had a “reading” with Terri Jay. She is an Intuitive Messenger, who picks up on messages and information for others. This includes pets, people who have passed away, or those who cannot communicate due to a variety of reasons, including health. Her experience is also prominent in grief counselling as well as life coaching. This unusual area of expertise makes her a very interesting person to talk about your life with.

I found the reading to be interesting in a variety of ways. Terri Jay does not read what will or will not happen in your future. She will help you think more positively about your life and situations and help you use the power of positive thought to help shape desirable outcomes to come to you. Kind of like a life coach idea. I left the reading feeling more empowered, which is always a really good thing.

Thank you Terri for giving of your time.

Today's Quick Tips

-Grocery shop alone if you can. You'll be more focused on your shopping and getting those deals, as well as staying on track with your shopping list, than if you are to bring anyone else along.

-Bring your own shopping bags: alot of stores now charge for bags so if you bring your own, your saving a few cents here and there and helping the environment. Although I personally do reuse any plastic bags I do get  or recycle them over to the thrift shop who also uses them.

-Clip coupons. Give it a chance if you don't clip already. Your first coupon savings may just get you into becoming a regular clipper. Added savings by combining the coupon with the week's sales items.

- Scan your fridge before heading the grocery store. Plan meals by what you already have at home.

Home All Safe and Sound

Sunday, March 16, 2014

Well, we're back home and all safe and sound. We'll sure miss the warm weather and very minimal snow Calgary had, but city people we are not. So busy!

Wanted to share the lovely, winter view though we had from our hotel room yesterday at the Delta Bessborough, Saskatoon. Was like a giant skating rink out there as you can see from my view that day.

If you happen to be in Saskatoon, Sask. and looking for a hotel with a nice view, this one has it- but you will need to request the king room, with the river view in the corner ( room 501). The staff here is also extremely attentive, and rooms are very reasonable.

While is Saskatoon, I always like to pick up a book if something catches my eye, for the long, 5 1/2 hour trip home. I came across a new to me book called: Cold Hard Truth On Men, Women & Money by Kevin O'Leary

And not that I am endorsing the book in any way, but it is well worth reading. I am still into it, but Kevin offers a great deal of useful information, and this is an easy read book. Great writing style, and you come to see that even though he has money, he is indeed mindful of his money.

On a final note, we've decided to start saving our bottles and cans and taking them in for cash. We've always recycled them, but dropped off at our local recycling centre, which sends them in for their own profits. ( We don't have a depot here where we can actually go and take them in. There is one in Prince Albert, Sk., near where we drop off Jakey when he goes to the kennels, so we thought we should just save them and take them in ourselves.) I decided that after buying a case of 24 water in Prince Albert, on our way home, and having to pay an extra $2.40 on the case. ( And yes, I buy bottled water- as our tap water here, even with a filter bothers my already sensitive stomach).

Jakey- Having a Morning Snooze

Jakey loves being beside me, or in the same room, when I'm working on the computer.

Trying to get caught up on sleep he lost at the kennels I guess.

Today's Quick Tip

Saturday, March 15, 2014

My eyelash curler I will admit isn't the greatest. Its doesn't curl as well as I'd like, but I found out that it works much better it you run it under hot water for a bit. Just don't put it immediately on your lashes as it stays hot for a few seconds- but does work well to curl once it's warmed up!

Wednesday- Calgary Visit

Wednesday, March 12, 2014

Another long , full day, but a good one. Sure alot of driving in the city. Does take a while to get from point A to B.
We started our day with the continental breakfast at the Days Inn here in Calgary Northwest.

We checked in yesterday and have spent two nights here already. Great place to stay. Quite area. Comfy beds and clean.

After breakfast it was off to Telus Spark.

This was the first time we had been here. Quite alot of families, school groups and children here. All the kids enjoying themselves with the hands on displays. Gerry and I did feel it was geared alot towards children, but were told that there is also a Adults Only Night every second week, which offered music, drinks and special programming. There was at the time of our being here a travelling Exhibit called Nature Unleashed, which included many photos and items from natural disasters such as hurricanes, tsunamis, volcanoes and even floods.

On our drive today- saw this guy (below- think they call these people Furries )

After we left the Science Centre we had lunch and then went to pick up Erika for our visit at Planet Beach. We were late for our review, so we were able to try 2 of the treatments each instead of the three like we were going to originally do. But it did work out fine though as we also had wanted to still go see Erika and Jon's apartment and and head to the movies. We had a great time here. This is an automated day spa that features mental renewal, skincare, UV therapy and of course an assortment of spa treatments and personalized service for it's customers. Monthly, membership packages are available or per session purchases can be made as well. A great place to come an relax!

(Later at the movies we saw 300: Rise of an Empire- in IMAX 3D- loved it!! Had Scene points so got in free!)
And once again Gerry is in bed before me. But my eyes are quite heavy, so I too must close.
We fly out tomorrow by lunch and start our trip back towards home, with a stay over in Saskatoon for one night.

Talk again soon...

Tuesday in Calgary

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

Another late day. So not much from me for tonight- Gerry already sleeping..
Today we checked into another Days Inn location in the Northwest end, after a great complimentary breakfast at the Days Inn Airport.

Before noon we checked out motor homes at an rv center. Had fun checking out campers and such but realized a few things:
- we really didn't like the smaller van conversions- way too small for comfort
- new ones of any sort were too much money
- and that rentals as well costed much more than a holiday we would go on through our timeshare or just travel blogging would cost us
Although we are still "considering" at some point buying a used one to do some winter getaway travelling once Gerry retires, or before. If anyone owns a motor home though, I'd love to hear from you.

I had a disappointing day with my afternoon. Things didn't work out at the vein clinic.I was told a different price when I got here- almost double more than I was told on the phone before I did come here. Then basically told I was wrong about what I heard. The doctor's bedside manner was horrible.  I left in tears, and without the treatment I came for. He even said I should " go back to Winnipeg." But may at some point I  just may go back to Winnipeg again, where I got my original first leg done. Certainly they were nicer there.

Got to see Erika and Jon tonight for supper and visit a bit with them. It was a good visit.
Shopping afterwards and then back to the hotel.
Tomorrow will be our last day here and a full day at that, so will talk to you all then...

We Arrived! Hello Calgary!

Monday, March 10, 2014

Today was a long day. So am off to bed! We left home before lunch and traveled for 6 hours before we got to Saskatoon- dropping Jakey off at the kennel  along the way. It's now 1 am- 2 am back home our time.
Were able to shop for about an hour in Saskatoon, before we had to head to the airport.
Flight was just under an hour. Boy- I wish you could fly anywhere in that little time! And barely any snow once we got into Saskatoon as well.

Upon getting into Calgary, we had to get our car rental picked up, and it was off for a quick bite to eat and then  to the Days Inn, Calgary Airport.

                                                       (Gerry- Calgary Airport)

We are staying one night in their king room suite, which is quite nice. It is nice to have this room with the extra room off the bedroom, as I am able to blog, (with a secure net service), without bothering Gerry, who has already gone to bed . Also nice to have the fridge, microwave, and most comforts of home.So important. But the best part of all is the cozy bed- which looks inviting and it's been a long day, so I'm off to hit the sack but will share tomorrow's day tomorrow.

( Loved your modern sink Days Inn! First time we used one of these!)

( We also thought this was cool and was the first time we saw a hotel sending their leftover customer's shampoos and soaps to Third World countries. What a great idea!)

Sunday March 9

Sunday, March 9, 2014

Wow- isn't March just zipping by- we're already over a week into it.

We'll be packing tomorrow morning and off to Saskatoon,( 5- 6 hour drive), then flying out to Calgary that evening.

Started my Spring cleaning today.Spring cleaning in our place isn't hard work for me. I sort and declutter all year long. And I keep it fairly clean in here. For example, I started with our second washroom today. It was a quick wash down of the toilet and vanity in there and floor. Only other thing I really needed to do was wash inside the vanity, clean inside our cupboard which holds sheets and blankets and clean the door, light fixture, and bathroom fan.

We noticed we have to replace the flooring in there though, as when we had toilet issues, the water backed up through the toilet seal and under the flooring.Causing the flooring to warp.

It was the older Walmart flooring we had in there and hadn't changed it when did the last complete home, floor redo with Home Depot.

When we stop in Saskatoon, we have to get more of the flooring, ( and hopefully it is still in stock). Will be redoing that bathroom, and also the floor in the spare room off the porch, which used to be Erika's old room and now waiting for us to vamp it into a guest room.

I am looking forward to hitting the Dollar Store and looking for bargains, visiting with our daughter and boyfriend, and just getting away... talk soon !
