Our Day Yesterday

Wednesday, April 9, 2014

Didn't do alot yesterday.Gerry was at his conference for most of the day. Came back to the room and we had some leftovers from lunch the other day. (Nice having the fridge and microwave in the room).
After lunch he drove me to my appt. at the medical clinic where I had some veins treated in one of my legs.

Today I could take of the compression hose and was quite impressed with minimal bruising, but they do feel itchy in spots. I do have a greater underlying problem that will need more extensive work on the veins- but would need endovenous laser therapy. Perhaps though another time- as it is more costly than getting the foam sclerotherapy I had done.

Gerry and I looked for some souvenir shops yesterday and couldn't find anything, so went back to the casino I had won my big win at, to try my luck again. No luck. Yes, it's a small weakness- I won't be going back though this trip- so please feel free to yell at me. My "kids" already have! LOL

Our visit here in Scottsdale has been nice though- very friendly people here and although fair sized, not too "cityish".

Phoenix is about 20-25 minutes away, and more busier there, getting into the freeways and the faster pace of moving.

We'll be heading there today to take advantage of some attractions...

Talk to you all later.

Our Day Yesterday in Sunny Arizona!

I must say I do miss Jakey,(our Yorkie) back home, and feel bad for anyone left behind in our long winter and all the snow- but we are loving the weather here in Scottsdale and Phoenix. It has been so nice to feel the heat of the sun and see a blue , clear sky.

I spent a greater part of yesterday blogging, entering contests and surfing the Net yesterday as Gerry was still in his conference here. We did have the chance to meet up for a yummy lunch though, as we sat outside near the hotel's restaurant.

We had free time after 3 pm and had reservations at The Hard Rock Cafe in Phoenix for 4:30. Saw a stretch limo on the same street as we were arriving:

Not always easy to plan these things- as we aren't sure how long it will take to get from point A to B, but we made it!

We were very warmly welcomed by the staff and manager, and got a history lesson on the Hard Rock as well as a tour of the inside of the restaurant and had the opportunity to try something off the new menu- ( I chose the Tupelo Chicken Tenders and Gerry chose one of their steak dinners.)

We would recommend a visit to the restaurant if you are a music buff and love great home style cooked food.Hard Rock has many locations worldwide so do check it out on their site.

After our visit there, it wasn't a far drive for us to go check out the Desert Botanical Gardens.

Loved this place.  Was nice to see so many cactus and wild flowers all in one area, without having to drive all over searching them out. Was a very busy place- alot of people enjoying the flora of the desert .

Even stopped at the Talking Stick Casino on our way home and won some money. We don't often win big, but this place seemed to have winners we were noticing on many machines! I won over $400 spending $30 and Gerry won $60 on $20!

Till next time.....

Day 1 in Scottsdale

Sunday, April 6, 2014

Since Gerry is gone to his Investment and Recovery Navigation check in, for about half hour , I thought I would write a bit about our day so far.
Well, first of all, it got to 84 degrees today and so, so nice to be in the sun, see a blue sky, and get away from an endless winter back home.

The view below is from our deck- sliding patio doors look out onto a tennis/basketball court.

We stopped at one of the local supermarkets this morning to pick up a few things and to use up some of my U.S coupons and FREE product coupons I had been holding on to.

Saw Camelback Mountain along the way.

Then Gerry had to come back to the hotel and register for his conference that starts tomorrow and then it was off to lunch which we decided on eating at in one local food court.

Supper was suppose to be a review of The Hard Rock Cafe's new menu, in Phoenix, but we've run into car troubles. Sort of. The cigarette lighter is not working in the car- and we cannot get our way around with it, so have had to call someone from the car rental to come out and bring us a new car. So that is going to change plans for that for tonight, as they say it will be 1-2 hours before we get the new car.

Earlier in the day we did go to one local spa to have our nails manicured with a gift certificate we had, so that was nice. It's the only time Gerry gets his done, when he goes out of town-LOL

Also stopped in at Planet Beach Spa in Scottsdale.

We had gone to the one in Calgary before and was quite happy to come check out the one here in Scottsdale. Gerry had tried the Cyber-Relax Massage chair but didn't think to adjust the settings once the girl had left the room. Said the intensity at times on parts of his back was too rough. However I did tell him, "that's why they give you the remote Gerry, so you can adjust that while in the chair yourself." Gee, guess I had to be there for him-lol

I was in the Aqua Massage and enjoyed it.

I could remain fully clothed and adjust the intensity of the pulse and the pressure. One thing I would have liked though, was for the water in it to feel warmer. I felt it was on the cooler side and like a feel more of warmth on my body when in for a massage. We did still enjoy the experience and for anyone not having visited a Planet Beach Spa, to definitely go see what it's all about.

Walt Disney World Resort- Orlando, Florida

On our upcoming vacation to Orlando Florida, we will be once again visiting Walt Disney World Resort. After all, what is a trip to Florida without stopping by Disney World?

Walt Disney World Resort consists of 4 main parks- Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot as well as two water parks. We have never been to Epcot before so it will be the main stop of our visit, but Disney Novices should make note that you can see all parks in one day if you buy a park hopper pass, otherwise you usually stick to the one park per day.

Since we only have a one day pass, our park of choice in this visit, is Epcot. It is built to celebrate human achievement in technology as well as culture. It is divided into two main areas- Future World and World Showcase. The World Showcase includes pavilions for select countries in the world, including Canada, so this will be nice to see. The World Showcase, also features pavilions celebrating technology and science. Who needs a time machine when Disney can take you to the future with just the price of admission?

Since we love animals though as well we are hoping to be able to have time to split our day and head over to the Animal Kingdom- but we'll have to see.

We are very excited for our return visit to Disney, and we are pretty sure that it will not be our last.

Day 2- Leaving Behind A Gloomy Saskatoon Day

Saturday, April 5, 2014

Doing a bit of last minute pick ups here in Saskatoon today, then off for our afternoon flight. Will fly out around 2:30 and not be in Arizona till 9 pm. So no more blogging for me for the day after this post.

As you can see by the view from my window here at the Days Inn  this morning, it will be nice to welcome the sun of Arizona! So gloomy out today.
Have a great day everyone!

Day 1- Our Trip To Arizona- But Not Quite There Yet!

Friday, April 4, 2014

Left home this morning to Prince Albert- 4 hour drive south- where we dropped off Jake at the kennels, and also dropped off our cans/bottles at a recycle center- where we pocketed $11 for half a bag we cashed in. Always just donated to our local recycling center before, but this center is near the kennel that we drop Jakey off at, so we'll just save them for when we make a trip this way. Our local recycling center doesn't pay us for returns.

Stopped at Wendy's for lunch and used our $10 gift card, and then it was on to Saskatoon- a little over an hour away from Prince Albert.

We stopped at a camper dealer to look at a 2006 Sunseeker rv we had spotted online, for $30,000. Now its a matter of deciding whether or not we want to take the plunge and buy it, or keep looking around or get nothing. It was nice and only seems to need some cosmetic work. We'll have to think about it.

After looking at the rv, we did some shopping and then  we went to check in at the Days Inn Saskatoon. We've stayed here before and love this hotel. They just offer alot of what we are looking for when needing a hotel in Saskatoon. Our room is comfy and clean, and can't wait to get a good night's sleep after driving most of the day.

Review: Glasses From Clearly Contacts

Wednesday, April 2, 2014

Review By: Gerry

As most people who wear glasses are all too aware of, the cost of getting glasses can be very prohibitive.

Luckily, many are discovering the pure joy of buying glasses online through clearlycontacts.ca. The experience is amazing. You have hundreds of frames to choose from and you can make the lenses as specialized as you want. You can add bifocals, anti-scratch, or transitions and more. You can even upload your photo to the website and check out how the glasses will look like on you so you are not buying blindly (pun intended!). With a generous return policy you will never get stuck with a product you do not like.

Gerry recently reviewed a pair that he picked out online and is really impressed.

The prescription was dead on, the fit good, and they really weren't any different than a pair you pick out at your optometrist- except for the price!

We've gotten glasses from Clearly Contacts in the past and have always been satisfied.

Gerry particularly loves his lenses scratch proof coated AND loves his transitions! This was most important for him to have after having an eye exam over a year ago, when it was noticed that he had issues with his eyes because of the sun, and didn't always wear sunglasses. With his transitions, his glasses always keep his eyes well protected.
