Set Backs

The last few days have been to say the least, not the greatest, but we're trying to be positive.

We got an early winter this year- dumped on with snow and more coming. We were hoping to leave to go west, then south, today. Yesterday we spent most of the day loading up the RV and the day before as well. Found out yesterday morning our water lines were frozen. Problem fixed though. Second problem came yesterday when we found out we had a fridge that wasn't working. We had others tell us it needs to run for 24 hours before we'll get it cool- but nope that didn't work. So, today, the day we were suppose to leave, we are stuck home. We have to take the RV down to the propane dealer today and have them look at it, and hoping it will be a cheap fix. It's snowing again. There is pretty much single lane traffic on Main Street downtown because of the snow, but we need to get it to the other end of town, and the other option is going down snowy hills. So think we'll more than likely attempt the drive through town. I'm not sure yet- 

We had to as well take most things out of the RV too that we need in the house again, call the town to get them to come turn our water back on, call to have services that were placed on hold, back on. Yeah, it's been one of those " not so great" last few days. We're still planning on going south- we're just unsure when we'll get out of here.    Luckily we didn't have any problems or injuries during the drive. October 17-( update)
Looks like we need a new fridge for the RV. It's a big expense that will be at least $2600+ with the install. Not good for us. A big set back for sure. We just have to wait now for it to arrive. Should be a few days, then we can leave.

I just tried some great oatmeal bars today- Bobo's Oat Bars. Have you heard of them? Since oatmeal is something that is good for us, I was really interested in trying them. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women. Though very common, women can survive breast cancer if treated at an early stage and for that, an early diagnosis is a must. Women who are not at a high risk (i.e. who does not have a family history of breast cancer) can start getting a regular mammogram at the age of 50, otherwise, they should start early, at around age of 40. 

It is also important for every woman to know how to perform a self-check to check for any lumps on their breasts. Talking to your doctor should give you more information on how to do the self-checks.

SUBWAY® CANADA TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL SANDWICH DAY BY DONATING 303,030 MEALS TO FOOD BANKS ACROSS CANADA

This year National Sandwich Day will be full of giving. For every sandwich purchased with a drink on November 3, 2016, SUBWAY^® Canada will donate the monetary equivalent of a meal to Food Banks Canada.  In addition to donating a meal, participating sandwich shops will also give the purchaser a second sandwich of equal or lesser value.

Through this initiative, SUBWAY^® will donate the equivalent of 303,030 meals* to Food Banks Canada, which is approximately the number of children across the country that rely on food banks every month. A portion of the donation will support Food Banks Canada’s 550 food banks through their national food sharing system. The donation also marks the first national meal donation by SUBWAY® Canada.

Over its history the sandwich shop has focused strongly on giving in local communities as franchisees get involved in initiatives that support their local neighbourhoods. This history made Food Banks Canada a natural fit as a charitable partner as they also focus on helping within local communities and are increasingly concerned with providing fresh foods to those in need.

Through capacity building initiatives and increased efforts to provide essential food to people in need, 40 per cent of the food shared by food banks are fresh foods.  With a 26 per cent increase in food bank use since 2008, Food Banks Canada has reported that 1.7 million Canadians this year alone will turn to a food bank for help.
