October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women. Though very common, women can survive breast cancer if treated at an early stage and for that, an early diagnosis is a must. Women who are not at a high risk (i.e. who does not have a family history of breast cancer) can start getting a regular mammogram at the age of 50, otherwise, they should start early, at around age of 40. 

It is also important for every woman to know how to perform a self-check to check for any lumps on their breasts. Talking to your doctor should give you more information on how to do the self-checks.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it is the perfect time to create awareness about early detection. Every woman should pledge to create awareness among friends, family members, colleagues, and their community.
