Happy Birthday To Me....And An RV

Sunday, August 6, 2023

Looks like I have a birthday coming up tomorrow but did have to chuckle the other day as I thought I was going to be a year older than I am going to be! I told Gerry maybe I SHOULD start saying I'm older than I am. Maybe tack on a few extra years- then people would say : "You look good for your age ." LOL

Have been spending more time I feel with posting on Instagram still. More giveaways on there so if your not on Instagram check us out there. Oneincomedollar

We bought ourselves a Class C RV- paid only $6,100 for it. Its a 1990 Ford Citation. Needs work. Not the end of it with regards to running but more so an updated look- new fridge, new fans, new mattress, new for all of that. When nothing has been done to a camper in 30+ years- well yeah it needs some help. Good thing Gerry can do everything, but I do feel he feels overwhelmed at times. We do want to get the main things done though so we can take it out on a trip sometime hopefully this month. We did also get alot of things that came with the RV that the previous owner didn't want to be bothered with taking out or selling, so made at least $400 on those items. We are thinking it will be a few thousand to fix it up to a good standard, but in the end we will still come away with an RV that we still got a good deal on. Since we had also sold our other one for more, we will come away with money in the bank.

With buying the RV, we found out that re -doing all the cushions and chairs would cost us about $3,000- hold up! no way! So we got rid of one small chair in there that was just taking up space, and I think we are going to just put seat covers on the front chairs and Gerry will buy some fabric on Amazon and make the covers for the booth and upper bed. Since we didnt have a sewing machine though, we found this used one on Facebook for less than $70

So stay tuned and will update with more photos as time goes on...

And on the topic of buying used and get it for free- look at the storage shed we got for free! It had to be un-assembled and hauled home but in the end and with some sweat, Gerry saved himself $1300 !

Also won us a few concert tickets last month for the months ahead... and our daughter is getting closer to her due date with her baby due in 3 months!

Would love to hear about great deals and free stuff you may have gotten recently!

Dropping Out of Two Social Media Accounts

Wednesday, July 26, 2023

Please note- if you have noticed the icon buttons at the top of my page for Twitter and Facebook gone, I have deleted those accounts. I can still be found on Instagram and Pinterest and of course the blog. With all the negative news Twitter has gotten I thought maybe it's time to leave. Facebook has been slow too.

Am thinking of putting more effort back into the blog for a while...perhaps giving Instagram more of a break... we shall see what happens. How do you follow me? The blog? Instagram? I'd like to hear from you.

Canada Day- Here and Gone...

Sunday, July 2, 2023

Well, we did some decorating around our place for Canada Day.. saw one neighbor with a flag out, and another on another street, but really felt there wasn't much happening as far as the whole decorating went. I even got myself  a Canada Day t shirt. What I heard at the salon though today was one girl said she was conflicted to wear red/ white/ Canada flag.. over the wearing the orange t -shirt for honoring the Indigenous children who went away to residential schools in the past and never returned home. So she didn't wear either.

We did still go out for Canada Day though, and alot of others in the city did as well. Went to see the Pioneer Village within the stampede grounds that is only open during certain times of the year. Had Canada Day cake, did some walking around and took in the fireworks at 11. If you follow me on Instagram you can see a few of my videos there from the day's events.

The renovations have been continuing as well..

Gerry put in a new window recently. We had a few older aluminum windows in the house still from the previous owners so been upgrading those. The fencing is in and we will be building that higher fence soon, but also Gerry built a new closet for the basement bedroom, which usually is where our daughter stays when she comes here. ( Still needs some finishing though on it). She's also decided she wants us to keep the dated wallpaper and says she likes the retro look.

June 2023

Monday, June 19, 2023

Summer will soon be officially here...just a few more days. Although here in southern Alberta I feel like we have had summer for a good month + . The weather has been so nice. Much better than the weather we got when we were in northern Saskatchewan. We have had to buy another round of a 3 month tick dose for Jake. Expensive at $82.. but effective, and he has no side effects from what we could see from taking it. He is still also doing well from not being on his heart meds. Goes out for 3 walks daily, and eats and drinks well. He will be 13 in August.

Gerry has still  been busy with inside and outside work to the yard. We have grass in the backyard now. The green house is coming along nicely and everything growing so tall- even planted some sunflowers outdoors- but Gerry noticed  Jake might be vegan cause he's been nibbling at the leaves!

We want to replace the fence as well and make it from a 5 foot to a 6 foot. More privacy. We planted trees also along the fence but will take them a bit to grow to the nice tall ones we used to have back home. Also put up a screen from the RV we never used on the main covered deck and it helps with privacy, shade, and a great wind blocker.

Which by the way, speaking of the RV- we sold it! We had started out wanting over 50 thousand for it but in the end took 35. Now we are on to looking for another one, but smaller and for alot less so we can keep some money in the bank.

With Gerry doing so much work inside and out, he managed to overdo some muscles in his neck and shoulder, so some things are now on hold. He had been going to physio for a bit but the cost is $60 a visit for treatments, so after three, he took a break and was given some at home stretches to do.

Our daughter Erika found out she is having a baby boy- so now can plan more for the color scheme of things. Due at end of October. Her first and us first time grandparents .

I have still been doing alot more photos and videos on Instagram so if you have that be sure to follow me https://www.instagram.com/oneincomedollar/ there. We also have alot of giveaways happening there too.

This or That? The Web and Social Media

Sunday, June 4, 2023

I have been a blogger for 20 years this year. When I first started blogging not too many people were blogging, doing product reviews, etc.. I also did a bit of Facebook and some Twitter posts. Now there is Instagram, Tik Tok and who knows what else. At times it's like a part time job really.  Creating and managing content, planning for new content, giveaways.... After 20 years of blogging though, I decided to turn in the last year more to Instagram. Now I am struggling with staying with Instagram for my platform or going back to blogging.

My daughter used to enter ALOT of contests before and was spending ALOT of time online. In the new year she gave alot of it up. She still enters the odd giveaway but not near what she used to. People would say she was lucky that she won so much...but she put the time in. I myself enter the odd giveaways but it's like the lottery tickets.. and its the odd time. I always say if I am meant to win I will win with that one ticket I buy. I don't need 10. What I am saying as we really can spend alot of time on "here".

I have a ton of content on the blog though, almost 6,000 posts done over the years. I do invite you to check out some of my past posts. But no matter how you follow me or have followed me over the last while, I thank you for being around .

It's Been a While- Or So It Seems

Sunday, April 30, 2023

It's been a while - or so it seems, that I've connected with everyone. Although I have been spending more time away from the blogging end and more time with my Instagram. I have been doing the majority of giveaways on there, and just so much easier to do content on it through my phone.

The weather has been warming up- so we are getting out for longer walks. More places to hunt for great deals - so spend more time with that as well. Back home, living in a smaller town, I didn't the opportunities for the deal hunting. These are more so for grocery deals, but have picked up great deals for the house as well on Facebook Marketplace. There just is more to see and do in the city.

Gerry has been doing alot of renovations still. It's been from one end to the next. We also have plans for outdoors with landscaping and rebuilding a small, less private fence and making a larger one. We have been lucky to have been selling different things that were in the place when we bought it, and putting the money back into renovations. Also buying like new used has helped a great deal as well with expenses.

Been getting up earlier so the day is longer.. but finding by early evening and heat coming on... am feeling a bit wiped by 6 pm. We're still at a good point where not too many bugs have come out yet. We have a new back window to put in so would like to do that before the flies and wasps make their ugly appearances LOL

We also have our oldest daughter coming back home soon...and its been over 6 months since we seen her last, so that will be nice. Another two days!

For those of you who are on Instagram please be sure to follow there @oneincomedollar. You will find alot more giveaways and photos being shared.
