Book Review: Professional C ++, 3rd Edition Mastering Complex C ++ Programming

Monday, December 29, 2014

From game programming to major commercial software applications, C++ is the language of choice. It is also one of the most difficult programming languages to master. While most competing books are geared toward beginners, Professional C++, Third Edition, shows experienced developers how to master the latest release of C++, explaining little known features with detailed code examples users can plug into their own codes. More advanced language features and programming techniques are presented in this newest edition of the book, whose earlier editions have helped thousands of coders get up to speed with C++. Become familiar with the full capabilities offered by C++, and learn the best ways to design and build applications to solve real-world problems.

The Book Review:
Reviewer: Jon

My First Impression
  - looked like a very big book filled with lots of information
  - kind of intimidating at first

After reading
    - it contains lots of information and is a very useful book for learning C++
    - the opening chapters are an overview of C++ and a refresher course (which was much needed)
     - need to know at least some programming to get the most of this book, not for beginners
      - even though it contains lots of information, it is easy to understand and work with
      - the downloadable code to use along with the book is a great help
      - looking forward to re-learning C++ after being away from it for so long (I mainly use Python, HTML, CSS, SQL and Javascript as a web developer)

Conclusion
    - A must have book if you are wanting to take your programming and development skills to the next level with C++
