Trick or Treat- Sweets and Salties For Making It A Yummy Halloween

Friday, October 25, 2019

Halloween- it will be here again before we know it!
We all know that Halloween candy is one of the best parts of the holiday.. and who hasn't dipped into their kid's Halloween candy? LOL
For most of us, it wouldn't be Halloween without trick-or-treating for candy; however, that wasn't always the case. When the custom of trick-or-treating started in the 1930s and early 1940s, children were given everything from homemade cookies and pieces of cake to fruit, nuts, coins and toys.
I myself remember fruit in my bag and homemade popcorn balls. How about you?
This year we are rounding up brands for inclusion for those Halloween trick or treat bags or those treats that are salty and sweet for adults too! Enjoy! And Happy Halloween from the following business:

ROCKY ROAD (flavors: original, mint, sea salt, s’mores)

Frugal Living is About Mindset Not Necessity

Frugal living is increasingly popular but not for the reasons you might imagine. People aren’t just concerned with getting a good deal; they are also looking for ways to live with less impact on the environment and to achieve a lifestyle that truly matches their personal goals.

Living frugally allows many people to retire early, to take more time out of work to travel and to put more time into their family and friends. For many people, saving money isn’t about having more in the back but about exchanging earnings for time.

So how can you turn your mindset around to live more frugally without feeling like your missing out?

Get into the Habit of Searching for Deals

Saving is a habit and it’s something that comes naturally to some but harder to others. The thing is that finding a great deal can often take more time than picking the first price you’re offered. However, spending a little more time finding an amazing deal will almost definitely balance out later on.

Learning to look for deals everywhere is definitely a mindset. Finding coupons for shops and wandering around flea markets or yard sales is an easy way to get started but did you know you can also get coupons like the turbotax coupon that can help you save on your tax return too? Every time you get out your purse, there could be a better deal so take a little bit of time to do your research before you spend.

Learn to Make-do and Mend

Capitalism is based on people buying new things instead of fixing what they have. In fact, planned obsolescence is a huge problem in the industry that the EU took action last year to limit its impact.

But it’s not just companies at fault here. You can choose to buy things of higher quality and keep them for longer and the fashion industry is starting to catch up here. You can also learn how to upcycle items that have reached the end of their lifespan, either to use them for a different purpose or to extend their life just a little longer.

Reorganize Your Priorities

As you get into the habit of saving and you learn to make do with what you have, you will gradually adopt a different attitude towards spending. In fact, you’ll probably have a little more in your account at the end of the month.

This means that you can now take some time to reassess your priorities. Building an emergency fund is a good start but you might also like to save up for the holiday of the century or perhaps you want to put a deposit down on a property. Maybe you have your heart set on early retirement so investing could be a better choice.

When you have the money to spare and you’re not desperately trying to make it to the next payday, it’s a lot easier to think about what your priorities are and how you are going to achieve your financial goals. Start small and build up - you’ll be amazed by the changes you can make.

What To Look For In A Great Hotel Experience

Thursday, October 24, 2019

When we think of travel abroad, we often think of our destination first and foremost. Where do we hope to visit? What kind of experiences do we wish to have? Who do we wish to go with? These questions can dictate a great deal of what we invest in and how we plan our adventure. The hotel or accommodation we choose may be a side consequence of travel to a certain destination, thus we may leave this until later on in the planning process.

While it’s unlikely that you’ll travel somewhere for the hotel alone, it’s important to consider just how worthwhile investing more time and energy in finding the perfect spot can be. A great hotel experience is not something that is assured, but it can be universal regarding what the best experiences are.

With this in mind, we hope to help you use the best criteria every single time you look for a place to stay. A great hotel can make a vacation, and a bad one can thoroughly ruin it. To that end, please consider:

A Beautiful Experience

A beautiful hotel is comprised of the little things that make you think ‘wow, this is incredible.’ It needn’t be one showstopping element that knocks you off your feet, but an attention to detail and certainty of care that truly elevates it beyond anything else. You may think this is only found in the five-star accommodations you might have to pay over the nose for, but that’s not true. The location is a great part of it. For example, a hotel on the waterfront, allowing the beach to speak for itself, and with a programme of insight regarding the best activities to experience, this is a hotel that cares about your stay, not just your money.

Great Amenities

Great amenities can really make a thorough difference. For example, a beach bar, a wonderful restaurant in-house, a sense of community, and also a hotel that hosts many events through the week is alive, one worth seeing, a place of community and compassion. These amenities can often signify hotel owners that care about what they’re putting into the world, and that can be a powerful thing.

A Respect For Guests

Not all hotel guests are looking for the same thing. There are many disparate personalities lining the halls of any hotel at any time of year, and a hotel that understands this is one that can manage it. Allowing you privacy and a sense of personal space in the breakfast hall, ensuring that noise complaints are dealt with swiftly and respectfully, upholding hygiene standards in their public restrooms, as well as ensuring that guests are given options such as a late checkout, or to learn more about the hotel adequately - these are the signs that a hotel is well worth your time.

With this advice, we hope you can find a hotel that helps both you and your family enjoy a better standard of lodging.

Why You Need a Live Band at Your Wedding

Wednesday, October 23, 2019

When you are planning your wedding, you have a million balls in the air all at once. You typically have to start by planning your date, then picking the venue, followed by food and drinks.
While some people try to go at it themselves with their Mac and Apple Music playlist, most people opt to go for a traditional DJ. But some of the best receptions feature live bands. Live bands, like these Rat Pack tribute bands for weddings, can ignite your reception, taking it to a whole new level.
Elevate the Reception
There is a different emotion you feel when you hear a recorded track versus a live one. If you have the budget and space, a live band will differentiate your reception from all of the other ones people have been to that opted for traditional DJs. While DJs are artists themselves and much less expensive, there is an electric vibe to having performers live at your event. It also just feels more substantial and formal for the most special occasion of your life.
Variety
You can interview and check out many different types of bands before you settle on the one that is best for you. Each group has a different style, although many of them offer a wide variety of music available so they can satisfy nearly any crowd.
You can go for a themed cover band or even by genres such as the '80s or '90s. The most important thing you can do is after you have selected your band to schedule a meeting with them. During this meeting, make sure you have prepared a list of must-play songs and also songs that you don't want to hear. During this meeting, you can also go over expectations of what they need to announce and times and scheduling of events.

Fun Factor
Live bands are fun. Your guests will enjoy interacting with talent. Most groups will take special requests from the guests to keep them engaged and having fun. The band's lead singer will take control of the timing you set for all of the different events that happened during your reception.
When it is time to introduce you to the crowd for the first time, your band will be ready. They will also be available to alert people when to be seated for dinner when your first dance will take place, cutting the cake and even throwing the bouquet. And don't think just because it's a live band they won't do any of the fun dances that are practically required at a reception. Not only will they play them, but they also can help lead them.
Conclusion

When you begin planning your reception, you envision a party where everyone has the time of their lives and talk about your reception for years to come. Most people won't remember the food or drinks, but they will remember the entertainment. You cannot have an excellent reception without making sure you have great music and entertainment.

How To Amaze The Little Minds Of Your Children (In A Wholesome Manner)

Tuesday, October 22, 2019

Childhood is an exciting and very odd time. Not only are you learning how to be a human person (something we may never perfect), but we are often surprised and feel a range of emotions regarding the situations we are put in. This is why it’s essential for adults to give children a worthwhile childhood, and to introduce them to the world as best they can without wrapping them in metaphorical cotton wool.

That being said, sometimes it might be that you wish to amaze the little minds of your children, because inspiration can mean a lot for their development and willingness to learn. Think of the subjects you found fascinating in school. Perhaps it was science, or even the stories told to you in English class. As a parent, you too can curate these experiences, to help your children understand just how much world is out there and what they, as little people, have as part of their story.

In this post, we will find wholesome methods to amaze the little minds of your children, allowing them to develop that wonder so natural to their imagination.

Bring Them Somewhere Special

Absolutely every child loves being part of an adventure, and so bringing them somewhere special can be a great idea. When possible, you might purchase tickets in advance for great savings at Disneyland, or somewhere else equally likely to capture their imagination. A large vacation such as this can often be cemented in their positive memories forever, something they cherish and look back on even through adult life. But beside any profound consideration like this - you’re sure to have a lot of fun.

Enjoy A Thoroughly Creative Trip

Perhaps you wish to find something that can spark the creative juices of your children. Heading for an activity weekend that focuses on arts and crafts can help you and your children bond together, learn new skills, and come away with a craft or creation for your efforts. It’s these measures that can often be the most rewarding, and may even help you feel more comfortable practising said new hobbies at home in the future. From time to time, we just have to help our children realize how creative they can be if prompted correctly.

Teach & Educate Out Of School

There’s no particular necessity to limit your child’s education to their school experience. Perhaps you wish to visit a beautiful museum, an aquarium, a large zoo or even a planetarium to help them view with wonder the world they find themselves in. Seeing a model rendition of the planets in our solar system in a facility designed for it can make any child of appropriate age feel absolutely stunned and amazed. If not, the likelihood is that they’re not paying attention. That being said, be sure to enjoy the fun of learning. If you can take part in this with your child, they’ll be fascinated for life.

With this advice, you’re certain to amaze the little minds of your children in a wholesome manner.

Camping in Utah's Dinosaurland At Steinaker State Park

Sunday, October 20, 2019

On our way to Arizona every Fall, we have for the most part driven through some part of Utah on the way down or back home again.

Heading down on the 191 hwy and if you make a stop to see the Flaming Gorge Dam, driving a bit further south - you'll come to a quiet  park by the name of Steinaker State Park, 7 miles north of Vernal, Utah.

Full hook-up, electric or dry campsites are available through reservation May 15th – September 30th .

Besides campsites, there is also one cute cabin as well here and located at the main campground high on the hill. It's located very privately as well. It offers a great view of Steinaker Reservoir and can be reserved from May 15 – October 15 at the current rate of $60. It is open throughout the winter months by contacting the park directly. The cabin is equipped with a queen size bunk bed, heater / air conditioner, small refrigerator, microwave, futon, and small table with 3 chairs. The cabin will sleep up to 6 people. Pets are not allowed...
It's a small campground but still seems quite roomy. The paved road around the campground also doubles for a nice walking path for those who love their morning or evening walks.

Amenities at the park include park office, washrooms, boat ramp and filleting station.

Even found a little dinosaur today at our site- appropriate for the stay in Utah's Dinosaurland!

The park is clean, and we also were happy to have had a cell signal and Verizon 4G picked up as well to still stay connected to the outside world.

Utah State Parks hope to see you this Summer where there is plenty of opportunity to relax or have fun with boating, swimming, OHV riding, hiking and fishing!
