Camping in Utah's Dinosaurland At Steinaker State Park

Sunday, October 20, 2019

On our way to Arizona every Fall, we have for the most part driven through some part of Utah on the way down or back home again.

Heading down on the 191 hwy and if you make a stop to see the Flaming Gorge Dam, driving a bit further south - you'll come to a quiet  park by the name of Steinaker State Park, 7 miles north of Vernal, Utah.

Full hook-up, electric or dry campsites are available through reservation May 15th – September 30th .

Besides campsites, there is also one cute cabin as well here and located at the main campground high on the hill. It's located very privately as well. It offers a great view of Steinaker Reservoir and can be reserved from May 15 – October 15 at the current rate of $60. It is open throughout the winter months by contacting the park directly. The cabin is equipped with a queen size bunk bed, heater / air conditioner, small refrigerator, microwave, futon, and small table with 3 chairs. The cabin will sleep up to 6 people. Pets are not allowed...
It's a small campground but still seems quite roomy. The paved road around the campground also doubles for a nice walking path for those who love their morning or evening walks.

Amenities at the park include park office, washrooms, boat ramp and filleting station.

Even found a little dinosaur today at our site- appropriate for the stay in Utah's Dinosaurland!

The park is clean, and we also were happy to have had a cell signal and Verizon 4G picked up as well to still stay connected to the outside world.

Utah State Parks hope to see you this Summer where there is plenty of opportunity to relax or have fun with boating, swimming, OHV riding, hiking and fishing!
