Camping in Central #Arizona

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

We've heard extraordinary accounts of people having the most amazing experiences while camping in the beautiful state of Arizona so we have made plans to spend a week but which one do we pick when Arizona is home to 31 State Parks that have 100 hiking trails?  It was not an easy decision with so many to choose from for our perfect family adventure so we could fully enjoy the natural landscape and beauty around while we camp, hike and star gaze at the light show above us at night, plus we want to have some off road experiences as well.

Since we are headed to Cottonwood, Camp Verde and Sedona areas, we decided that we'll be staying a few days at  Dead Horse Ranch State Park due to the fact that they offer cabin rentals as well as RV and tent camping.  Red Rock State Park and Jerome State Historic Park are also in the area so we'll get the luxury of exploring a few parks while in the area.

Dead Horse Ranch State Park offers a bit of everything for all of us from fishing, to canoeing and kayaking as well as hiking trails.  If your game, you can even go hang gliding from Mingus Mountain nearby!

Dead Horse Ranch State Park is located near Cottonwood, AZ so if we need additional provisions we can head down to their Wal-Mart Super center to get our shopping done or grab dinner if we don't feel like a campfire meal.
