Signs that it is Time for you to Change Jobs

If you have been mulling over the idea of changing your job for quite some time, then you will know what a frustrating situation it can be. On one hand, you may be ready for a change, but on the other hand, you will probably be worried about the risk of uprooting everything you have worked so hard for. Your Body is Breaking Down

You will probably feel this at the beginning and at the end of every day. In the morning, you may find yourself questioning whether or not it is all worth it, and if you really need the job anyway. At night, you may find that you feel exhausted, and that all you want to do is flop on the sofa until the next day comes along. You might even develop aches, pains and creaks in places that you never thought possible. Tension can develop in your shoulders, and over time your immune system will also weaken, causing you to be much more prone to colds, twinges and infections. Regardless of how much you try and suppress your feelings, they will eventually catch up with you and you might even develop feelings of depression as a result. If you try and get this treated then this may help your mood, but it won’t treat the underlying cause of the problem. You have to remember that quitting your job isn’t a sign of defeat. In fact, it is actually a sign that you are trying to make a positive change and the sooner you understand this, the better.


You Have a Constantly Busy Brain

You may be familiar with the Sunday Night Blues. If you are then you will know that it is an intense feeling of dread, right before you are due to go back to work. This is another sign that you really do need to make a change. You tell yourself that you need to pull yourself together and that it’s not that bad. Other days, you might feel as though you are having the time of your life at work, and that you can’t quite remember why you ever thought of quitting. Either way, if the feeling of dread happens more than the feeling of being exciting for the day ahead then this won’t be doing you any favours. You may even find that you are constantly thinking about work, and that you always mull over everything you need to do on a Sunday night before you can even think about sleeping. This can also have a detrimental effect on your health, and if left untreated, it can get way worse.

Motivation

It’s not a nice feeling when every aspect of your job feels stale, or even uninspiring. You may find that you lack enthusiasm and that every single day feels the same. At times, you will probably feel the need to complete necessary tasks by using the minimal amount of effort because you can’t remember the last time you felt challenged or even excited by a project. Of course, even if a different project comes along, you might still feel as though it doesn’t interest you as much as it once did, and the cycle will then continue. If you are unable to push yourself however then you will never get out of the situation you are in right now, and at times, you may even find it hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes, the only way out of situations like this would be for you to change your job entirely.



Irritability

You will probably have an off-day every now and again, but if you are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain the professional niceties then this can be another sign. You may feel constantly worried about how you are going to react to being asked a question or even some advice, and this can make it even harder for you to sustain a positive working environment. A lot of people think that being able to adapt themselves to meet the requirements of a new role is always a good thing, and it can be. If your job has changed so much that it no longer matches the job description however then this can make it harder for you to fulfil your working goals. You may find that your managers or even your colleagues have landed you with a ton of menial tasks, or even that your good nature is being taken advantage of. On the flip side, it could be because you are assigned tasks that should really be completed by someone who is of a higher skill set than you. This may have been okay to begin with, but if you get to the point where this is no longer the case then a change is most certainly required. If you don’t do anything about it then you may find that you get more and more irritable, and this can also have an impact on your working performance.

Isolation

A lot of people get frustrated when they are not invited to meetings or even to take part in team
decisions. If you don’t actually want to take part or if you just don’t want to contribute to team decisions, then this can lead to feelings of isolation. You might feel as though you are on the outskirts of company culture and that you just can’t push that extra mile. One way for you to get around this would be for you to try and socialise more, and then take small steps to get back within the office circle. If you just can’t find it within yourself to do this, then it’s time to move on.

Toxic Working Environments

Sometimes there can be a real negative atmosphere around the office and there is also no sense of unity among the team. You may find that you are venting about work or even each other, and that there is a very deep divide between those who work in leadership roles and those who don’t. Communication might be poor, and this can lead to an overall sense of dread in the workplace. If this sounds like your office, then this is a sign that something needs to be done to change the dynamics of the working environment. It may be that new leadership is required, or even that you are just not happy in the job anymore. Sometimes a complete change can help you with this. It is more than possible for you to take a huge range of courses online as well so that you can prepare for the move.  If you want to get some ideas for that, then it may be good for you to look into getting a masters in electrical engineering by Michigan Tech, or anything else similar.

Your Health

If you find that you are hitting the snooze button just a few too many times throughout the day, or if you feel constantly exhausted then this can be another sign that something needs to be done. You may find that you are constantly stressed, or even that you can’t keep a handle on your emotions. You do have to remember that this is completely normal from time to time, but if this period doesn’t seem to be coming to an end then this will most certainly have a negative impact on your overall health.

  1. Been looking for inspiration today Monique, something told me to look up your blog... This is exactly where I am these days. Miss those delivery days when I was always excited to go to work... Definately time to find something new - something that excites and challenges me like my Agency did. But what now ? (The question I ask myself every day lately...
