The Best Tips For Cheap Weekend Fun

Thursday, July 1, 2010

There is nothing more refreshing and relaxing than a weekend off, but if you want to maximize your time off on your last dime, then you need to get creative!

Here are some of the best tips for cheap weekend fun in your neighborhood to get you started:

Visit a Local Park: Interestingly enough, there are probably local parks in your area that you have never even been to. You could be missing out on a beautiful dog park, nice hiking trail, or even hidden pond or lake. Do some exploring!

Go Fishing: On that note, finding a local park is the perfect opportunity to go fishing. This is a relatively free activity that will build wonderful memories as a family, or you can also use it for a time of solitude. On top of that, you may or may not be able to catch your dinner that night, depending upon your skill level.

Check out an Afternoon Movie: This is truly the best way to maximize your summer potential because matinee movies are much cheaper. On top of that, you will get to beat the outdoor heat and have a theater almost to yourself!

Visit a Local Museum: If you haven't been to the museum in your town since your fifth grade field trip, it may have significantly changed since that time. This is your opportunity to play a tourist and check out some local museums or historic sites that you normally would overlook.

Visit a Nearby Town: The closest that you will get to a neighborhood vacation on a budget is checking out one of the towns nearby. But don't go for an obvious choice; visit a smaller or more obscure destination so that you can check out unique dining and shopping destinations that you may have never seen before!
