December 12th is National Poinsettia Day

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

While it is wonderful to receive flowers and decorative plants all year round, there is something really special about receiving them during the winter, with the snow outside your window.  They just bring that little bit of life and joy into the winter months.

National Poinsettia Day is celebrated on 12th December every year. The date marks the death of Joel Roberts Poinsett, who is credited with introducing the native Mexican plant to the United States in 1828. The purpose of the day is to enjoy the beauty of this "very beautiful"  plant.

The Poinsettia, which is also known as the Christmas flower, is the most popular plant during Christmas.
