Save on Camping and Support a Worthwhile Cause with KOA’s Care Camps Big Weekend

Thursday, May 1, 2014

A special deal is always sweet, but what’s better than saving some cash while supporting a great cause?
All you need to do is be a paying guest at a participating* Kampgrounds of America location on May 9, and you can stay on May 10 for free during KOA’s Care Camps Big Weekend!
All funds raised over the weekend benefit KOA Care Camps, a network of more than 55 camps for children with cancer and other serious illnesses. Each summer, these medically specialized camps give thousands of children and their siblings the opportunity to spend a week experiencing the joys of camping, while still continuing treatment. Now in its 11th year, the organization has raised more than $5 million through activities at KOA campgrounds, individual donations and support from corporate partners. Select campgrounds also offer special events and activities to raise additional funds.

Kampgrounds of America is the world’s largest system of open-to-the-public family campgrounds, and offers a variety of unique amenities and local attractions, and on-site perks like swimming pools, rock climbing and more (varies by location). With a 52-year track record of providing the best in outdoor hospitality, guests know that what’s behind the yellow sign is people, service, and an experience they can trust. With nearly 500 campgrounds across America and Canada, KOA offers an enjoyable outdoors experience no matter where your road trip takes you, and makes travel planning easy with its app, online trip planner, and robust printed directory.

KOA has many campgrounds in Canada with a variety of features to fit every camping personality. Canadian campgrounds include the Niagara Falls KOA, located just three miles from Niagara Falls. This campground has a heated indoor pool, spa and two heated outdoor pools. Campers at this KOA are right next to attractions like the Maid of the Mist boat ride, Dinner Theater, Butterfly Conservatory and Jet Boats Niagara.

Campers can also enjoy the 1000 Islands/Ivy Lea KOA in Ontario, a peaceful campground that is the only KOA situated on the wonderful 1000 Islands Parkway. Families can rough it in style with a luxurious movie lounge, a fitness center, huge arcade as well as nature trails that reveal lovely vistas of the island. This property is within walking distance to golfing and is in close proximity to the casino as well.

There’s never been a better time to camp at a KOA, so check out their site here to find a campground near you to visit for Care Camps Big Weekend!
