Whether you’re just visiting or you’re a life-long resident, there is so much to do in the little resort town of Banff. Located in Alberta within the Banff National Park, the first national park in the country, it is one of the most popular tourist towns in all of Canada. Whether you’re looking to take a weekend getaway or a month-long trip, there will always be something to do or see, especially if you love nature and wildlife. You might even be looking at Banff homes for sale, as this resort town has some of the most scenic homes in the country. Check out some of these places next time you’re in Banff - you won’t be disappointed.

Wildlife

This park is one of the best-known in all of Canada and is located in the Alberta Rockies. It’s an absolute must-see location for anyone looking to experience nature at it’s finest. One of the best parts is experiencing the local wildlife, which includes bighorn sheep and elk. Take an evening safari tour during your stay to check out these majestic creatures first-hand. If getting up close and personal with animals isn’t your thing, you can take a scenic gondola ride over the park instead for one of the most stunning views in Canada.

Hot Springs

An absolute must, the hot springs flowing out of Sulphur Mountain are open all year, and may easily be one of the best things this area has to offer. For over a hundred years, people have been visiting these hot springs to “take the waters,” as they say. While there are many hot springs flowing out of Sulphur Mountain, Banff Upper Hot Springs is the hottest of them all. It can get fairly cold in Banff in the winter, and even in the summer. Warm up or relax your muscles after a long hike in this relaxing blend of water, minerals, and gases.

Hiking

One of the most popular activities in Banff is hiking, and there’s no shortage of trails in the area, no matter what your skill level. In fact, the part holds over 1,600 kilometres of trails. If you’re going to do one hike in Banff, you should consider making it Cory Pass. While the hike itself is strenuous and challenging, the view from the pass itself is one of the most stunning you’ll ever find.

Banff Avenue and Bear Street

The best place for shopping in the area, Banff Avenue has everything from hip clothing for men and women to hiking gear for your next adventure in the park. This is also a great place to pick up some souvenirs from your visit. After, head over to Bear Street for a little more of an eclectic, creative vibe. Here, you can find art galleries, hand-crafted jewelry and crafts, and a variety of quirky shops to visit.
