Healthy Benefits of Water

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

For those of us that just plain hate water, let me give you a few reasons of why you need to drink it anyway.

1. Making Your Kidneys Work Alleviates The Pressure On Your Liver

Yeah, I know. It sounds so stinking scientific. Just follow me on this. Do you know the job of your liver? The liver’s main job is to convert stored fat to energy (aka the metabolism of fat and we all know we want that term “metabolism”!)

So, what does that have to do with our kidneys? Another job of the liver is to help out the kidneys! Kidneys need plenty of water to properly work. So, if the kidneys aren’t getting enough water, they can’t work to their full potential, and the liver has to do their job. That means the liver has less time to work on METABOLISM! So, you are storing fat instead of burning it.

2. Give Your Body Water To Drop Water Weight!

What?? Sounds very strange doesn’t it? How in the world will putting more water into my body get rid of water? Let me just break it down into mommy terms. :-)

When you first start drinking the correct amount of water, it feels as if you are pregnant all over again! That bathroom is your new best friend and you have been to visit it so many times that you are beginning to wonder if you have a urinary tract infection or something. What is really happening is that all those years that you haven’t been drinking water, your body has been storing the little bit that it gets. Why? Because it needs it and is unsure of when it will get it again. AKA, that 100 dollar bill you have been holding onto for 3 years because you just might need it and have no idea when you will get another one!

Ta da! Now you are giving your body water so it flushes out the stores of it and no longer holds onto excess water. As long as you continue to give it water, the constant potty runs and the bloating will go away. :-)

3. Water Is Better Than Oil Of Olay!

Yep, better and loads cheaper! Water flushes out the impurities in your skin leaving you with a clear and glowing complexion! Seriously! Plus, I don’t have any scientific knowledge to back this up, but experience shows me that when I am getting enough water my psoriasis acts MUCH better.

Water is all the ingredient your sagging skin needs to re-babytise. (Liked that word didn’t you? Yes, I made it up. LOL!) If your skin has become elephant like due to losing weight or getting older, keeping it hydrated helps to plump it back up!

4. Water Decreases Your Appetite!

Before you eat, drink a large glass of water. It fills you up a bit, which causes you to eat less. Plus, lots of time that hunger you feel is actually thirst!

5. Play A Math Game To Find Your Ideal Water Amount!

So, how much water should you be drinking? It all depends on your weight. You figure your weight and divide it by two. That answer is the amount of water (in ounces) you should be drinking. For example: I weigh (yes, I am going to tell you) 160 pounds. I should be drinking 80 ounces of water each day.

Kelli is a mom of 3 boys who needs to get busy dropping some weight. Kelli was in the military where her claim-to-fame was 46 push ups a minute. :-) When training for the Ms Fitness America Contest, she was able to do push ups with her legs up on her shoulders. :-) At the height of her iron pumping addiction, Kelli had 3% body fat! Yes, had… now Kelli is working very hard to get under the status of “over-weight” and cheering on others in her boat!
