Your One Income Story By Kathlean of New Mexico

My Daughter, "Annie", is 23 and disabled. We live off of her SSD income of $670.00 a month. After paying rent, utilities, we have enough for phone and internet. The internet is our entertainment! We have DTV which is over the air digital signal for the local stations; five channels is plenty, as long as I can see the local news, I'm happy! Food is a little harder get! We are signed up with the local Salvation Army and our Church also helps provide us with dented can foods that are sometimes "Mystery" goods because there is not label on it. I have learned to be creative with our meals! I use coupons for important items like toilet-paper, toothpaste and if I don't have a coupon, I buy generic which is usually just as good. I also enter a lot of sweepstakes and can win movie tickets, free meals at restaurants, and goodies; like vacuum cleaners and trips! Last year, I won a trip for 2 to the Grand Canyon, all expenses paid, including the taxes! It was amazing!

We don't like living on such a tight budget, but we do it and have followed a motto: "We make it work!".
