Weddings are so expensive and if you’re trying to pay for it on a single income, you’re going to struggle. But it’s the most important day of your life and you want to make it as good as it can possibly be, which means you probably don’t want to make any sacrifices. Everybody has a dream wedding in mind when they start planning but that’s not always possible on the budget that you have. There are some aspects of the wedding that you can save on without making any sacrifices but other things are going to cost you more money if you want quality. Knowing where to spend and where to save is the key to planning a great wedding on a single income.
Spend On The Rings
The engagement and wedding rings are going to be quite expensive if you want quality. You could get some cheap ones but you’re going to be wearing them every day for the rest of your life so you need to make sure that they’re well made. Make sure you’re looking at designer engagement rings rather than going into a high street jewelry store and picking one up from the shelf. When you’re buying the wedding bands, you still need to buy good quality but they tend to be a little bit more simple so you can save a bit of money.
Spend On The Honeymoon
The honeymoon is a chance to make some amazing memories with your new spouse and for a lot of people, it’s the biggest trip they’ll take in their lives. If you spend all of your money on the wedding and you don’t have anything left for the honeymoon, you’re missing out on that experience. The more money you save on the wedding, the more you’ll have to spend on an idyllic honeymoon. Often, the thought of a relaxing honeymoon is the only thing that gets people through the stress of the wedding planning process so you want to make sure that you’ve got enough money for it.
Save On Makeup
Getting a professional makeup artist to come and do your makeup for the big day is very expensive and not really necessary. Doing your own makeup isn’t that difficult so you can save yourself a lot of money by getting a friend or family member to do it for you. If you spend a little bit of money on good quality makeup and do a few practice runs before the wedding, you’ll be fine.
Save On The Bar
A free bar is great for your guests but it’s not great for your bank balance. Paying for everybody’s drinks all night is out of the question if you’re paying for the wedding on one income. You can still offer some drinks for your guests but within reason. If you offer beer and wine and then people pay for anything else that they want, you’ll save yourself a lot of money and your guests will still be happy.
Planning a great wedding on a single income is hard, but it’s not impossible if you know where to spend and where to save.
