Well, we made it back from picking Erika up in Calgary. It was a long drive and gas was unreal-$980 return! The truck pulling the 10 foot trailer there and back just sucked back the gas like it was drinking water on a hot summer day. I tell you we could have cried. This was a 12 hour trip that we broke down into 2 -6 hour drives.
We headed out of here on Thursday and made it to Saskatoon,Sask, where we stayed at the Best Western Plus Blairmore. We loved this hotel.

It was very welcoming, and away from the hussle and bussle of the main area of the city.Very nice decor, spacious rooms and a great complimentary hot breakfast. The dining area was very large too- unlike others we had been to before.Having a business centre there too was important for me too to check emails, as I hadn't yet picked up my new lap top from Erika, in Calgary. This was a very family orientated hotel. We stayed here one night, and the next day moved on to Calgary, Alberta, where it was getting Erika all packed up. Alot of work, especially she was in a basement suite and there was alot of up and down the stairs, but we made it. We were only about an hour away from the mountains of Banff , Alberta, but just didn't have the time to drive there. I had been there a few times before, and the mountains are always so nice to see.I wish we would have had the time to visit this time as well, but didn't.
That evening after packing everything up, we were just wanting to get some rest, and headed over to another Best Western hotel.

This one was the Best Western Freeport Inn & Suites near the Calgary airport.Best Western has great hotels.Even though we were near the airport we slept like babies that night. The beds are like heaven, with multiple, fluffy pillows, clean sheets, blankets and down quilts.Who wanted to get out of bed the next day?? But, it was off to another yummy breakfast downstairs and then on the road again.
It was alot of driving but we have our daughter back home, and finished with her first year of business. She is going to get a summer job here and hoping to take her second year through distance education and live at home for this second year of school. Living away from home and renting for a year costed both her and us a small fortune.

It's been a busy past few days as we have been unpacking and getting her resettled here.My sister was telling me today that it's nice to see my house looking messy for a change- since I'm a neat freak! Will be nice when things get back to normal though and the laundry is all caught up with and everything has it's place.

  1. Yes,it is. Being frugal, I could have cried. I felt like I had no control. The trailer in the picture we paid someone we know to use it- that was $75. It wouldn't have costed more through U Haul.I told Gerry, how could we have done this cheaper?? We're not sure how we could have really.I hope we can claim it on our taxes.
