Positioned where Europe meets Asia, the country of Turkey is a beautiful land of
mixed cultural influences and a land of contrasts. Although considered by many
to be exotic, cheap holidays in turkey are very possible.
Istanbul is likely the most famous city, situated decidedly in between Europe
and Asia. Situated in the Mediterranean climate, it has nice and pleasant
weather in the spring and the fall, when the crowds are lesser and the prices
cheaper.
Eating in Turkey can be a delight. There is much emphasis on fresh
seafood, delicious Baklava, and strong Turkish coffee. If you avoid tourist
trap restaurants you can have an authentic meal for a fraction of the cost. For
a truly cheap meal, try kebabs from a street vendor.
Getting around using public
transportation is easy and inexpensive. Metro, buses and even taxis are much
cheaper than what tourists are used to in their home land. For a truly unique
and inexpensive experience, try boarding seabuses to get around to different
neighbourhoods and the neighbouring islands.
While staying in a hotel can be
expensive, there are many alternatives that are available. A two or three star
hotel can be a great experience without breaking the bank and for those truly
thrifty hostels can be an excellent option. Often, if you book well in advance,
you can find a very good deal compared to when you book last minute.
In a land
that east meets west there is much to see and do, so don’t let money stand in
your way.
