As the warm weather rolls in and the days get brighter, Pizza Hut’s menu is getting a whole lot lighter! Starting today, Pizza Hut fans across the country can enjoy a new health-conscious line of delicious delivery and dine-in pizzas and pastas.
Introducing Pizza Hut’s new Eat Well menu, featuring Italian-inspired pizzas made on multigrain dough and oven-baked wholegrain pastas that are part of the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Health Check™ program!
To help spread the word about healthy eating, Pizza Hut has teamed up with Janet & Greta Podleski — best-selling authors and stars of the Food Network’s hit TV show Eat, Shrink and Be Merry.
“With each slice weighing in at 200 calories or less, we can all enjoy Pizza Hut a little more often!” exclaims Janet.
“I’m all about taste and the pesto-marinated tomato slices and fresh veggies on the pizzas get my seal of approval,” says Greta. “I’m picky about pasta too, so I was surprised how rich and tasty Pizza Hut’s oven-baked pastas are,” she says. “And, the 10 grams of fibre per serving isn’t bad either!” chimes in Janet.
The Tasty Details about Eat Well
The new recipes, all of which reflect the great taste and quality that has made Pizza Hut an international success, feature a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
The pizzas are topped with healthy ingredients, including grilled chicken and pesto-marinated tomato slices, while the veggie-laden pastas feature a combination of feta and mozzarella cheeses, roasted red peppers, olives and an old-world tomato sauce.
All recipes were carefully developed to meet the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s strict nutrient criteria for sodium, fat and protein. The Eat Well menu was developed by Pizza Hut Canada and Canadians are the first in the world to try these new recipes.
“We know that many people want healthy choices when they dine out and having Health Check™ on the Pizza Hut menu helps them easily identify them,” says Katie Jessop, Registered Dietitian, Heart and Stroke Foundation. “We couldn’t be happier to see that one of the country’s biggest restaurant chains has developed pizza and pasta items that meet the Health Check™ nutrient criteria.”
“Our Canadian test kitchens have worked very hard to create healthier options that we can be proud of,” says Dave Ross, Director, Pizza Hut Marketing. “We’re really excited about the end result. We know Canadian pizza and pasta lovers will enjoy the multigrain dough and wholegrain pasta — and, at the same time, feel good about serving it to their friends and family.”
