5 Ways to Nab the Best Hotel Deal

Saturday, May 15, 2010

I love vacations and if you’re the same way, you probably find that you love them as well. If you’re anything like me, the only thing holding you back is either time, or money. While I can’t really help with the time side of things, I can help you with a few cool ways on how you can save on your next hotel visit. Listed below are a few steps that you can take to save on your hotel room right away.

#1 Name your own price: If you haven’t been to PriceLine.com yet, I strongly encourage that you do so. They have the coolest feature over there where you can name your own price for a hotel room. What you will simply do is tell them where you want to stay, what star hotel room you want, as well as how much you’re willing to offer. If your offer is good enough, a hotel will accept it.

#2 Get the coupon books: This one is great for road travel. What you’re going to want to do is stop at a gas station / rest area. At most of these, you’re going to find these Room Savers type books. They are packed full with coupons that can save you money. Again, these work the best when you’re on the road.

#3 There are coupon codes: Many people don’t know this, but there are discount / coupon codes online for many hotel chains. It never hurts to search for a code that you can use for your next visit. Many of the times, you’re going to have to use this with the chain exclusively, but there are occasions when you can find a Hotels.com coupon code, etc.

#4 Get cash back on your stay: Sites like Ebates.com, as well as others offer you cash back on your purchases. All you have to do is shop through them. You will create an account, log in, and click on a shopping link. Once you click on that link, you’re going to get a certain amount of cash back in your account.

#5 Scout out deals: It’s not necessarily a coupon, but there are some great travel deals sites out there like Travelzoo that can point out the best deals possible. Generally by purchasing a package, as well as other options, you can save a good amount of money. This is where you wouldn’t even need a coupon!

It’s not too hard to save money, but you’re going to find that by implementing these tips, you’re going to be able to save a good chunk of change. Try out these tips and let me know how much you saved!

  1. I needed to book a hotel stay for an upcoming baseball tournament. I didn't want to pay $300+ to stay for two nights with the team (no breakfast included) so after reading this post...i went to priceline.com which took me to hotels.ca. I had never used this site before. I called the hotel I wanted to book at and the gal quoted me for $103.99, at hotels.ca I got each night for $88. Hurray!!!! with breakfast included (pets if you want)
    thanks for sharing..it is appreciated.
