  1. Flatten the new toilet paper roll so it does not unroll easily and everyone will use less.

  2. Install an electric water heater timer(if you have an electric water heater). We only have our water tank ON for 3 hours in the morning.

  3. We have a basin in the bathtub to catch the warming up water which we then pour into our washing machine.

  6. My bathroom money saving tip is to turn the water off at intervals while in the shower. When you have to shave your legs, for instance, these extra minutes of the water being turned off and not running can really add up on the savings of the water bill.

  7. I have a small window in my bathroom that faces the west. We do not have a heater in the bathroom & it gets cold in there in the winter. One winter I took an old towel & tacked it up in the window. I was surprised how much of a difference it made! I used to take it down for the summer, but this year & left it up & it helped keep the bathroom cooler since we get full sun on that side of the house during the hottest part of the day.

  8. We take 10 minute showers. This saves water. We also have water saver toilets and we never leave the water running while we are brushing our teeth.

  9. I recommend using a kitchen timer to time the kid's shower. Then it will be easier for them to know when it is time to get out and they will use less water.
